i worked there way back in the mid 70,s Gravesend can be a very spooky town, with great pubs and ghosts stories ... thanks for reminding me of some good old days.
Definitely took me back to being a child walking through there.
@@ShaneRalph77 when i look at Tilbury was and still is . i thought Graves end was a nice historic and lively town i spent the summer of 75 there working on the nat west bank which backed onto the church and grave yard. very busy town compared to Tilbury.

What l can't understand is why ghosts are so allusive. Primitive man thought thunder and lightning was the wrath of the gods. As society evolved we began to understand the science. So why not the same with ghosts. Why haven't they become part of our everyday experience?
@@paulfitzpatrick3090 as I have always said , why don't they just knock and say hi I am a ghost instead of sneaking around lol

I'm Gravesend born,although only lived there the first 8 years of my life,then me and my parents moved to Sussex. Our old House near Windmill Hill had the Ghost of a Victorian Lady according to my Parents. They said She wasn't see through or misty but it was just like seeing a regular living person walking up and down the stairs and around the house.
They saw Her regularly the first few weeks after they moved in then after that no more.
They have a theory that She was checking out the new owners (Them) and was satisfied so didn't bother them any more.

I would like to tell you about something that happened to me back in the summer of 83 .i decided to have a ride to Canvey so coming from Ockendon I came up to five bells roundabout at a fair lick ,crossing the road and walking to the roundabout island was a blond haired girl maybe late teens early twenties wearing trousers or could have been jeans her top was broad black and white horizontal alternate strpes ,i was thinking she will see me coming and get herself onto the island .by the time i reached her because i was leaning to get around the roudabout i got i would say face to face about 5 foot at most away she was looking straight ahead eyes wide open still walking onto the island as if i wasnt there i then went through what i can only describe as riding through a cold store lasted seconds the hairs on my neck stood up it shook me enough to pull over on the other side of the roundabout to be honest i cant remember if i looked back but then carried on i vividly remember it to this day im not prone to seeing things but that was what it was the fact she did not increase her pace is what people would do like crossing the road not even blink and a way of walking that didnt seem to make her upper body move at all i wonder if she has been seen or reported on,i remember someone telling me about a girl pillion rider thet was killed in an accident at a set of lights back in the 60s? Might be something in that who knows but i hope you found this story interesting
Oh wow. Look up my video on the water works site in Fobbing. It's next to the roundabout. I will be making another video about that area as I have collected lots more reports from locals once my video went out and what you have just said backs up other reports I have had over the last few months. I am also aware of the deaths on that old roundabout.
Know the Gravesend Maritime area very well. However, only had one ghastly experience when I got a dodgy pint at the Rum Puncheon!
Never went back, so now frequent the 3 Daws with a great selection of beer that's always kept well. I know about the tunnel between the pub and the church. But was told that it was used to avoid press gangs. Usage for smuggling seems more likely but maybe it got repurposed.
You mean that a paranormal group turned up and saw her just like that?

@michaelquilter5223 my family have always called in promenade park. My family are from there and my great uncle called it that and my nan waa born a few streets away from it and called it that I guess people had their own names for it. The park near me is dip 1 and dip 2 but it's real name is hardie park lol

I VERY much doubt the princess Pocahontas would of been disembarked at Gravesend, the boat had sickness on-board they would not of risked any boat with disease or sickness to disembark directly into the town.. if anything she would of been kept more towards the ship and lobster . Somewhere down river boats with disease on-board was forced to stop there... I have a ghost experience in Crete hall road inside the A.E.I/ Henleys building that is still standing
I would love someone to look into my ghost sighting , it was a young lad wearing brown clothing with a cloth cap on , he ran to the top of the stairs and put his hand on the rail leant forwards as he has running down the stairs. I can honestly say I see what I saw and after speaking to another person who was clearing out the offices with me he said he had seen something similar but didn't want to say in case I said he was lying or mad... A.E.I / Henleys has all been knocked down now but the building I see the ghost in still stands.
