They are beautiful plants and I have had a few over the years. I have one now that is around four feet tall and seems to be enjoying life. I put it outside for the summer and bring it inside before the first frost. It is currently in my sunroom with a temperature of 58 to 60 degrees. You are 100% correct about those "stabby" needles! I think that a heavy pair of gloves is the best way to go when repotting! Thank you for the great videos! Happy New Year!
Thank you for watching! And thank you for your personal care tips. I think it's important to hear how others care for certain plants, especially ones that tend to be a little more difficult. Our summers tend to be hot and sticky so it might actually do well outside here!
I’ve tried this one once. I’m not sure I’ve ever had a houseplant die so quickly. 😂 Humidity, I’m sure, so I’m not going to try again, I quit the supplemental humidity after the time I got ice on the inside of my windows 😬 Good luck with yours! I do know a few people who have kept Poinsettias growing year round, but yeah, Schlumbergera is the usual holiday plant. I don’t know anyone who keeps an Araucaria. Or Selaginella, there’s another one that should really be kept in a terrarium…
I think people underestimate humidity sometimes. It's really vital to some plants, but thankfully most "houseplants" do just fine without it. The only problem comes during winter when the air is extra dry.
Merry Christmas, Dylan. We love Norfolks and used to have one. As you said, got it at Christmas years ago as a tiny 4" plant and it got huge! The branches eventually became too wide for anywhere in our house. A friend of ours has one in her house and hers is a beautiful compact species.
I've seen these in like office or hotel lobbies quite a few times, don't think I've ever seen one as a permanent fixture in anyone's house before though. Poinsettias are smaller and easier to get rid of when the holidays are over and they start to die because people forget that they need water.

That's awesome! Hope you guys have been doing well!
@@banesbotanicals1287 we have, thank you. A lot of transitioning and moving, but we are well and adding more plants than can fit into our space 😀

A common mistake with a lot of plants really. Unless you're me, and you know they need water, but still manage to somehow deprive them, lol.
Thanks Dylan!
i’m glad i watched this. i consider buying one for the holidays, but was quite sure it would thrive in my apartment; it wouldn’t 😄
They aren't easily adapted to home environments! I've been trying to mist mine every day to see how long it lasts!
@ keep us updated 👍🏾
happy hanukkah!
You too!
