Absolutely my favorite "History in Your Own Backyard" so far! Thank you!
I am of German descent, but grew up at a time when it was a shame to be German, and my family didn't even acknowledge that we were 2nd and 3rd generation German--so this was a wonderful video for me.

Also, all the pandemic notes will make this video in itself an important documentation of history during 2020.

@@RetMadOrganist Glad you like the video and yes, we wanted to include the pandemic info in this video so that generations 100+ years from now can look back to see what we had to deal with in 2020.

I just discovered your channel. I absolutely love it. We share some of the same goals and values. I visit cemeteries on my channel and try to preserve the history that I can as well. Thanks so much for your videos. I’m going to go binge watch now.

In the late 1980's I lived in a small building accross the street from Mecklenburg Gardens. At that time there was an iItalian restaurant at the site. In the 1970's my parents would eat there after seeing a movie at the Esquire.

Why don't you mention the coffee place catty-cornered across the street from it?

@@1960glh I went to the Highland Coffee shop only once during the time that I lived on Highland Avenue. Thought the place was cool, but since, I don't drink coffee, I never went back.

Gosh 1991-3 was the Zenith of that corner becoming a Wildgunmen haunt across the street from Rollman Psyc. parking lot..video history was made there.

I have never been there. My Dad owned a "cafe`" in Covington. It would be good to get there sometime when this Covid thing is behind us. TO the best of my knowledge, everyone with the "Klaene" family name in the Cincinnati area is related. The family immigrated from the Duchy of Oldenburg in the mid 1860s.

Did John Neeb construct the building, or was it existing pre-Neeb?
