- After 30 years in the elementary classroom, I’m pulling back the curtain on the real struggles teachers face-no sugarcoating, just raw honesty. This video is a vent session about the challenges in education that have stuck with me over the years: classroom behavior issues, minimal parent involvement, and the frustrating rise of student disengagement.
These recurring themes have shaped my experience as an educator and highlight the uphill battles teachers fight daily. If you’ve ever wondered what it’s really like to be in the trenches of teaching-or if you’re a fellow teacher looking to commiserate-you’ll feel right at home here.
This isn’t about solutions; it’s about sharing the realities that every teacher can relate to. Let’s talk about the classroom struggles, the impact on education, and the toll it can take on teachers, students, and schools alike.

I think schools passing kids along no matter what they do, teaches them that they don't have to do or learn anything to succeed in life. I was expected to teach teenagers advanced algebra when they didn't even know how to add or subtract. In the past you actually had to demonstrate some ability to get into the class and it was voluntary. Now students are being forced to take it against their will when they have none of the prerequisite skills. When schools start doing things that make sense again, then I'll start looking at parental problems.
