A lot is being talked these days about modern young guitar players and yes they are some, let´s say Matteo Mancuso who is really superlative but despite new players, I never saw, still didn´t see or hear any player like Scott. his ferocity blended with the use of the real bop vocabulary within the boundaires of a highly overdriven guitar is really unique and despite he doesn´t like to play standards or stuff like that, doing the cover of this incredibly complex tune, shows what he is really capable of. Kudos to the band. You don´t play with the man if you aren´t really phenomenal.
He mentioned this issue in one of his radio interviews. Scott just didn't want his music to be presented by bad subpar recordings from the audience, so he resolved it by making his own UA-cam page and uploading recordings directly from himself.
Thanks for educating me on how mature and grown up you are! Congrats!!!!!! I stand in awe of your enlightened perfection as an "imperfect" human being!
What a great guitar solo - It's also noticeable how Henderson transcribed the coolest little motifs and things from John Scofield and Kurt Rosenwinkel - SH makes it his own by integrating it all into his own voice. What about those Montuno-like motifs @ 2:25.? Great Rhythm section too! And congratulations for 'Vibe Station' - an amazing CD, w/ tunes that perfectly balance the Rock, Blues and Jazz elements that are trademark of your sound.
Indeed. I've been listening to him since the first Tribal Tech albums and always loved how he often takes blues as the base, then builds in completely off the wall and enigmatic phrases and scale patterns that feel like pushing off into some other realm. Never tire from hearing his solos over and over again, sort of study for me.
Exactly...that was a silly comment. It's Rosenwinkel who would have checked out Henderson if anything (Scott Kinsey from Tribal Tech has played with both and knew Kurt from when both were at Berklee)
@BGoldtone I don't bring cameras to concerts unless I have prior permission, and I turn my phone off. Yes, it is childish to assume you're entitled to film people's performances and accuse them of "robbing" you if they say no to it. It's an empty gesture to ask permission if you're going to badmouth the person unless they say yes.
@BGoldtone Did I claim any of that? You asked if I film without permission. Answering makes me an egomaniac? Sorry for being honest, instead of confirming your assumption. You set Scott up by asking permission when you weren't willing to take a "no", without accusing him of "robbing" you. You set me up by asking me a question, and mocking my honest answer. Deciding in advance how people should respond to you, then lashing out if disappointed is childish and silly. Sorry if the truth hurts.
I don't know whether to call Henderson a musical icon or hypocrite. I've been supporting this guy since the early days when most of his fans didn't even know who he was. I saw "Tribal Tech" years ago in Pittsburgh and asked Scott if he minded if I video taped the band ,he politely deferred, citing some lame excuse like "music is to be experienced in the present and not for some future reference", what bullshit! He robbed me of personal moment! Now look at the deluge of videos! Thanks Scott!!!

Fearless cover of one of the best and hardest jazz tunes. Bad visuals, but great sonics.

Been a total fan boy since the 80's - he never disappoints !
Thanks for sharing Scott, I never get a chance to see you where I live.
