I'm glad other UA-camr's are getting into Laserdisc. I just recently picked one up for my home theater, but I also have a demodulator so I can listen to AC3 sound mixes. I have a thing for older used equipment; especially higher end stuff. That's why I started my channel. I wanted to show that older equipment can have a second life in a modern home theater setting. I'm looking forward to seeing how you like using the LD player.
Jiles lives in the town where I deliver mail. Bought my first home theater items from him. 2 x 18" GSG MiniMartys that he built for a video.
Those subs are awesome!
Phenomenal theater buddy and love the addition of the LD player. I still have my Pioneer bought back in 91.
Thanks!
Hey Jiles, so definitely lots of changes but have been keeping up on the videos so knew about most of them but it's nice to see the completed room. Maybe once I get over my camera shy you'll let me come over and do a theater tour of yours? I'll look super awesome and can't wait to hear it
Happy to any time, just let me know!
Love the Blue speakers
Thanks!
Awesome video. I am always amazed of how much you've gotten into that room. It sounded great last time I was there. I can't imagine what it sounds like now, but it seems like it's only going to get better. Cheers!
Thanks! It’s never sounded or looked better!
Wow what a set up, love the speakers., i would love them in black.
Thanks!
@@mezzup1 You can order them in black!
I’m surprised you weren’t satisfied with the projection setup with the MadVR processor in there. I just added a Lumagen Radiance Pro to my projection setup and I find the image to be worlds better than I’ve been able to achieve with any other solution. But, every room and every setup has its own ideal solutions. It’s an impressive setup, to be sure. Cheers.
Thanks! Projectors have their place… and if you need to throw a 130” or bigger image they are your best bet cost-wise. But when you are looking at image quality OLED, miniled, and microled are going to win. You have to find the right mix of size, cost, performance, and preference. The TV also gave me a level of additional flexibility in the room I couldn’t reproduce with a projector. The rest of the family can come in and use just the tv very easily and enjoy the space. The room is used vastly more now than ever before.
Enjoyed the theater tour. Just one nitpicky issue: You may improve center intelligibility if you move it flush with the edge of the ikea piece. Further back as you have it you may get reflections. Just a thought. Beautiful room and rig, tho. I love TCL sets.
Thanks for the tip. I had it up at the edge for a while and have it back a little now. I think this is the final spot for it... still testing the waters.
As a guy running a 110" 4K native projector I absolutely agree that within that size range a TV is going to likely, almost definitely look better than most high end projectors but housing all of my speakers behind that AT projector screen makes for a cleaner room and keeps my gear safe from dogs who get the zoomies and clutsy kids. Great video and love to hear about other folks setups and reasonings for them. Cheers!
Thanks for watching! Great comment! Hope you subscribe!
I read a lot of comments saying speakers is beautiful😂 that color!
Thanks, I think they are beautiful too!
Please consider joining the community: ua-cam.com/channels/VpqDA_HH4PNnbRQdp4xXiQ.html
Stunning. Would you please give us the dimensions of the room and the distance from seating position to the TV. Thanks
18ish feet wide, 14.5 feet deep and 9-10 foot viewing distance depending on your recline.
Thanks
I have 120” ust projector now. I do sort of look forward to the day when i can replace with a direct view for reasonable cost. I have a couple extra inches of wall on either side, too, maybe even hoping 130” or so will be a common tv size. I guess we’ll see soon
136" I think will be the winner!
Thank you for great video, nice equipment in the rack, since you are using the TV and not projector, are you still using madVR Envy?
Check out the video. I go over all of that in the video.
This is cool! Subscribed to keep updated
Thanks, lots of cool projects coming up this year! Let me know what you want to see!
@@JilesMcCoy Why are you testing projectors when you obviously think TVs are better?
I see the laser disc player!! Woo hoo! 😊
Yes sir!!!
@ Hey, what are you doing with your old projector? Check your email! 😁
@@randallross3036 Its gone already :-(
@ No worries!
Awesome room!!! What are your plans with the stormaudio, are you integrating that also in your theatre?
I have that in service up stairs! It kicks ass!
Great video what size is your room
About 18x14.5
I have always thought projectors are an eyesore. Bloody great lumps hanging from the ceiling.
Right on. Thanks for watching and the comment!
Very Nice system. I would never use a projector, never bought it, but a 116 or 136" TV like Hisense or similar LED.
I can’t wait to try out a new 136 microled!
@JilesMcCoy it will be my Dream as well as the Dedicated Theater Room
And how do you plan to get that through your door?
@@supergrissi sideways? TV shouldn't be over 6 feet tall. I'm building a New room outside the house so it can also go in before the construction done.
nice system sounds like around 100K 😃 with all components involved.
I get lots of stuff 2nd hand!
Damn that screen is huge. I can only imagine how unweildly the 115" is.
@@FURognar I watched some videos and the 115” is really hard to deal with. But worth it if you can manage it.
Very nice 👍 I love the new set up. Maybe you can have a powered drop down enormous screen with cool 3D projector in the future. Watch movies in the dark with either projector or TV. 👍 Hey I was wondering what kind of speakers are those blue speakers you are running ❓🤔 Nice looking.
Thanks! Those are Starke Sound speakers.
Those Starke speakers are beautiful and look like they mean business at the same time! Why the Rbh subs up front and the Gsg 24' subwoofer at the back? I'm pretty sure the Stereo integrity 24' has at least 2x the output capability of all those RBH subwoofers combined. I would think you would want to take full advantage of your best subwoofer and have it as your main sub and then have the weaker subs on the rear as nearfield or waveforming support subs.
I’ll most likely have the GSG/si in the rear, as that is the only place it fits, and then figure out where the rest go. I don’t think I will be able to hold on to the RBH very long as that they are on loan now.
For wave forming you need 3 subs in front and 3 in the rear I believe. Maybe 2 in front only?
Thanks,
For this video, I really enjoyed your approach to home theater. I want the new Halo series set up, like your beautiful color speakers. Can you provide links to purchase the speakers.
Service@starkesound.com Tell them I sent you! They are custom order.
Nice but 115" TLC will be fit perfect for this wall 😝😉👍👍
I think so too!
Mannn Super Nice...How far is your tv from the MLP
between 9 and 10 feet
So, when are you going to buy the Tekton Double Impact?
Never gonna buy a set. Love to review them though.
I was curious why would upgrade to r-volution player since you already have a kaleidascape? Unless you have movies that are not available on the kaleidascape store due to licence for movies at boutique labels like arrow, shout, kino lorber.
Because I have a billion movies that I’m not going to rebuy on Kaleidescape. And I want to make some videos about the Rvolution too.
To be clear, the Kaleidescape isn’t going anywhere. That is where I watch all new movies
What jvc model did you have,hd or real 4k. There are so expencives real native 4k jvc
It was a 4k shifter.
Where can I buy a component cabinet like you have ❓
That’s a middle Atlantic rack. I bought it years ago from a dealer.
Are those theater seats real italian leather like valencia?
Not sure where the cows came from for the leather.
I couldn't find anything on your products linked to your video ❓
What do you mean?
The glossy screen isn’t a drawback? I keep wondering about TCL as they are so cheap but every video I watch they look so reflective, are they worse than other brands or no, thoughts?
No worse than other brands, but this TV does have lots of reflections. The qm8 is better. And Microled is about the best.
@ Thanks!!
if you keep the room dim to dark, its not a detriment at all.
@ I don’t though.
@@JilesMcCoy Maybe that's why you prefer a TV instead of your projector?
I believe a projector under the right circumstances has a picture not lacking in quality compared to a good TV when talking SDR.
For HDR you also need a TV of a certain quality to actually make HDR worth it...
Instead of iso acoustic feet go for the stack audio auva feet they are better.
I’ll check them out.
Madvr is so expensive...and i guess im not 100% sure what it does...i thought it just made the picture perfect, but doesn't seem worth it to me...i mean if you dont have perfect sight whats the point i guess?
It has a ton of great features... tone mapping, geometry correction, aspect ratio changes, frame rate changes, etc. It just depends on your system as to what you would use.
50k in AV processing.. 2k in picture. Somethings off 🤣
Not really. You can just get an awesome picture from an affordable set these days. I could have paid way more for a much worse projector, but I thought that a bad decision.
Also, the Trinnov gear does nothing to the video. It’s only audio processing.
He is planning for a 136 inch MicroLED
@@dennissimiyu3109 I hope I can make it happen! At least a 115" or 116"!
I’ll never go back to projection
It has its place, but if you are a candidate for direct view it makes a huge difference.
@@JilesMcCoy my room is the same size as yours so a 55'' is just fine
@ If you are happy with a 55” then for sure go with a 55”. I’d like a rv larger than 98” eventually.
Yeah I'm an HDR simp and there's no projector out there that would satisfy me in that regard. Contrast, maybe. Color performance, absolutely. But they just cant do HDR like a flat panel can.
Cool tv room, bro.
Those Ava remotes are expensive.
@@FURognar They are nice for sure.
So , you ditched you Acurus ACT4 ??
No, I still have it.
Yoi do know that center channel is not positioned correctly.
This! It needs to be closer to the edge of the console and tilt it up towards MLP. That center channel will exhibit comb filtering for those sitting at the far edges of the seats.
It totally is. I’m not pulling it any closer to the edge. I had it there and moved it back to where it is now.
This is not diy?
It is
@JilesMcCoy hopefully we can have some actual diy stuff again with the new sub.
@ we will have some diy lite with the si 24 and then full builds with the next 2 24s. From celestian.
Tv screen is small and aggressive in the dark room, killing your eyes.
Not at all.
TVs doesn’t do 3D. Pass
Right on. I don’t do 3D.
