Imagine if you’re in your 40s like me- grew up in 80s, 90s Christmas decor….it was pure MAGIC back then… We had bubble ornaments, M&M ornaments, handmade ornaments, Precious moments, strawberry shortcake, Care Bears, Annalee dolls on our fireplace, ceramic painted deers, Jingle bears under the tree and sitting on our couches, decorative plates on our walls, a ton of hand painted Xmas ceramic mice ornaments, a ceramic Santa Claus bank that played music- Everything was a “novelty” and it was the best time in my life. Waiting for Santa Claus at night- the tradition was to sit by the tree and play my 80s Mickey Mouse Disney Xmas songs cassette tape. No cell phone, no social media, no pictures of me waiting for Santa. Just me and the magic of Christmas.
I love beautiful, traditional sparkly red and green and gold colors! I can't stand this modern crap! I love old, treasured unique ornaments that help to make Christmas truly Christmas!
i'm sorry for gen alpha kids when i look at the world they grow up in. sad beige aesthetic everywhere, ai algorithms, out of control social media addiction and just a very depressing state of things in general with all the crises going on in the world. i was born in 1997 so my childhood was the early 2000s. we always had a colorful christmas tree and other decor in the house, and the fact that it was not one uniform set or design language made it a lot more memorable, because every year there would be new stuff joining the collection in the form of gifts or small things my mom would find here and there. millenial parents make a huge mistake if they force their children to grow up in such a sterile and lifeless environment. great video btw, i subscribed!
I’m a Gen Z parent (24 years old, almost 25) and I have a Gen Alpha son. I refuse to have a bland and boring Christmas or any holiday. I would always try and share my nostalgic Holiday decorations with my Gen Alpha son. I was passed down decorations from my parents, and our decorations been past down since the 50s and they get added to it with whoever is the current owner of them. My Christmas decorations are more colorful then a pack of skittles and I go out of the way to put garland on the upper walls and strands of silver tinsel icicles on the tree and they bounce the colorful rainbow lights around nicely on our real tree. And I don’t care if some people think is looks tacky because I feel like all holidays are supposed to look tacky and whimsical in their own special way.
I never understood people who care about aesthetics over a good time, especially for holidays. I grew up similarly, with the bright decor and things being held onto and treasured. My best friend's family is kind of chaotic aesthetic hound. He came over one day and we ended up decorated the tree and he was confused why everyone was so chill. Every time he looked at me confused I smiled back and handed him more of the fun ornaments. We're out here keeping this alive! Don't let it go!
You make really good points! But I have to say I have the bells on my front door (along with a large lit wreath on the porch. I love the bells when the front door opens (along with the Ring chime.) It makes me smile. I love your families decorations! I am showing my age, shh, somewhere in the 70’s. My decorations are similar - I even have some tree ornaments from my mother! And bring on the lights! I love the micro battery lites! So what I say is you be you! Maybe you can bring back color and an anti-minimalism when it comes to Christmas. After all, it’s only about a month and it does bring a wam and cozy vibe. Best wishes to you for a wonderful holiday! Don’t forget, you be the one who saves the ornaments from the trash bin when the elders pass on!

I want my Christmas to look like a rainbow exploded in the house!
The paper ornaments are traditional though! If they were colourful, they’d be gorgeous I promise! I’ve definitely made them as a craft as a kid!
I love this aesthetic but I’d brighten it up with my plant collection
So depressing! Hate all of it!
325$ for the set?? 🤯
Get them when they have 90% off and paint them yourself
Make your Christmas bright and colorful and let others make their Christmas the way they want it….
