Wonderful music! Great performance! From what year is the piano, from the Chopin's times? It sounds quite differently than modern grand pianos. I especially like the audible imperfections in the instrument mechanism and a little different tuning, because they sound so naturally, as if the music was played by Chopin and his friends 200 years ago. I am not sure if these are the imperfections in the tuning of the instrument or an intended effect to make the piano sound like in Chopin’s times. In any case it sounds great, very realistic and with a special character of the instrument.
Thanks! Yes, the piano was made in 1841! This performance was also performed at A 430hz, a lower tuning often used in historical informed performances of romantic classical music. Fortepiano pianos often have an incredible amount of variety in the way they sound due to the way they were constructed in those times.
