    Thanks for sharing. I am a Decendant of the Native Indian people that lived and thrived on the Peedee River. My grandmother used to take us fishing there on the banks of the Peedee. My ancestors and DNA go back some 30, 000 years. Very proud of the land of my ancestors.

    Great Video. My great grandfather traveled with his dad from Cheraw to Charleston and back twice a year on one of the flatboats . In the summer during droughts me and my cousins would wade the river looking for arrow heads and we found a bunch. We also found a vein of black flint that crosses the river bottom from NE to SW. My Dad said he would go with his uncle to pan gold at that same spot. It's just south of Town , we rode bikes past a cotton mill on the left hand side and through some pecan trees to the river.We never found any gold but I got a stone axe. That was 55 years ago, probably gone by now. Haven't been back in years.

    The 23 mile section from Blewett Falls to Cheraw is the most beautiful part of the entire river. I live down here on the coast, the river is totally different when you get above the fall line, that's why I love it up there.

    I haven't read the story yet but, I want to. I'd like to know if the river or the stream ever gets dredged.
    By the looks of the stream, it never was dredged. At least, not since the bridge was built.
    Dredging helps keep the water flowing to avoid flooding.
    Thank you again for sharing this!
    I hope you, Robbie Lynn, and family have a blessed weekend!☮️💖🙏🇺🇸🇮🇱🙌

    • @homesteadingpastor
      @homesteadingpastor  2 роки тому +1

      Thank you my friend. It’s definitely not a dream but a river, very wide & deep. Probably never been dredged and with it being one of the longest rivers that flows into the Atlantic Ocean it probably be overwhelming to try to dredge. Hope you all have a great weekend. 😇🙏🏻👍🏻❤️🙌🏻

    Left out one of rhe most interesting historical topics regarding the river ..pirates!! Here is a clip from actual news journal before the same stories vegan to be veiled on the side of a more occukted history...
    " Not long after the ship sailed past the settlement of Cheraw, it ran into rocks at Buchannan Shoals (Old Sneadsboro) and the Royal Fortune started sinking. Black Bart ordered his small crew to load the gold on a longboat and they started rowing upriver. They made it as far as what we now call Blewett Falls and again their boat ran into rocks and began to sink..."
    you see the river has a more sinister side that has been burried over tume (no pun) ..it used to be ruthless to travel this old river back in the earliest days due to piracy and criminals that like to use it and guard as a safe haven to hide loot and treasure. "In Search Of History" (a History Channel doc back when The History Channel actually did history) has good documentary regarding such use of these great rivers before the dawn of the steamboat.
