My family has been in the tow and recovery business for 66 years now and we still have our first wrecker. This is absolutely amazing. When I saw my first rotator years ago I knew that technology was a game changer but 100 tons is unbelievable. Total revolutionary idea into the the heavy tow industry. Thanks Miller for trhe amazing demo!
@@lisajohnson8566 clearly you don’t know what your talking about. Company’s have literally ripped turrets off of these trucks. They aren’t the best or strongest for recoveries.
I'm a tow operator in Mesa AZ with Thompson's Auto Repair And Towing. We use all Century equipment on our trucks. Two Ford F650 rollbacks and an International medium duty wheel lift.
I have no ties to towing other than having to use companies to pull our heavy haul trucks up and over at times. This is one amazing looking truck and amazing capabilities!!
@@mikeford675 not really when u go from millers 70 ton to jerr dans 60 ton it only beats it from tail light to tail light which if its a rotator that is kinda useless.
Two suggestions: As the driver's side is where the danger is because of close by traffic, why not make the cab easier to use the passenger side to get in and out by making those seat fold up out of the way for the driver. Increase the amount of steps to get in and out and add grab bars as there are a lot of older and shorter drivers in the field.
Cut my teeth on jerrdan. I did 20 years up to medium duty. And I thought NTC was bad ass But this ... damned impressive. One thought. Build a funky casualty situation for these videos. One can hook to easy balance points. But to really sell it. A semi real world casualty ... pure gold

The sticker, safe to assume, it is diatomic reflector tape?.. I think that would go great on the headache rack... HINT... hint.... hint... either way... Thank you for a great and safe and strong product line. Dru
You guys really need to contact airlines about buying your light duty & medium duty wreckers. The biggest one we have at ORD airport is that grey single axle. It’s a vulcan. We really need a better light duty since the one we have is a 2015 F250 SD with a frame mounted boom. We don’t get enough lift to properly pick up the equipment vs if we had like a Chevron auto grip 2 wheel lift.
Not a driver , but I think that all wreckers should have a big ass strobe on the boom top for added safety . A good coffee pot with a supply of good coffee would be a good idea
Its as if the wench / crane was built around its vehicle, like the A10 Warthog being built around its 30 mm Gattling. I bet the folks at Liebherr are impressed.
Very impressive . BUT I do think that there is one flaw on this design . And that is you can't alway have full spread on your stabilizers . So I think some boom travel should be sacrificed for counter weight storage . If the counter weight can be placed onto the stabilizer that could help tremendously . But I will leave that idea to the engineers .
Nice truck and an impressive wrecker to be sure. One question keeps recurring in my mind though........why? What I mean is, back in the day (late 80's-early 90's) when my partner and I use to run recoveries both private and CHP rotation, we did it all with a 3 axle KW-35 ton Century body and a 3 axle Ford LTL 9000-35 ton Challenger body. We did it all with two trucks. We had a 2 axle Ford L-9000 with a No-Mar 10-30 underlift used mostly just for towing. No rotators or traveling boom assemblies ever needed. Let's be honest here. How often does the necessity arise for sky hooking 100,000 pounds with 1 truck and be able to rotate it from side to side? I guess I can see the convenience of having a rotator, I just can't justify the expense.
Hm, that's why I keep thinking, not that there aren't times having a 'tator is required rather than overkill, but there's also times where it makes more sense to use a proper mobile crane than to use a rotator. Often I see some of these used and, I think, "Hang on, because you need to use your two winches, you can't rotate the load, relative to the boom, only to the rotator truck (aka a slew). The only benefit a rotator has over a mobile crane, when you remove the tow capability (apparently, an 'optional extra') is storage cubbies. the benefit of a mobile crane over a rotator then became, reach, height, variable capacity through the hook, you dont need to freespool and pull the winch line out yourself, which if you need to double back or triple or quadruple it for extra capacity (at the cost of speed), on a 'tator, turns into more of a back-breaker than the job already is. And on a mobile crane, there is (usually) a cab to stay warm in :D Came here after watching a vid on Liebherr's channel for the G-BKF that makes me slightly surprised they haven't already gotten into the 'tator' market.
Insana’s does my company’s towing. They had this truck built for a specific task and they said it does it well. I think it’s for lifting natural gas compressors on remote job sites.
Here in Ft.Worth these days, if its a BIG BIG, the CVE will request a tator and if you don’t have one they’ll keep going down the rotation list to the next company that does.
Your industries, your trucks, your mills, your dealerships, your plants, corporations, all. These trucks as well. Gone. New owner, new management. New. LLXI
Wasn’t kong bigger? Bert made these a while ago It had outriggers on the very front. Don’t get me wrong it is impressive but I don’t think they are the first.
But how would an operator pay for this truck??!! Are there enough recoveries going on? Or other lifting jobs? There is always going to be competition as Jamie Davis found out!
Each tow job costs a little over 1000$ Do 5,10 of those a week the truck pays for itself after a couple of years. This truck can do the work of 3 tow trucks
They have a video of them testing the m100 before launch and I believe they got a load cell to read out 200,000 and some change before they maxed out the load cell on a lift.
@@towtruckaj agreed, but they seemed hesitant to put more counterweight behind that 1150 rotator. If it's a 100-ton rotator, one would hope that whatever rating system they use has at least a glimmer of a chance of a real world capacity.
Do these machines require CCO or NCCCO certifications to operate or do companies just turn some nitwit truck driver loose with them? These trucks are blurring the lines between wreckers and mobile cranes. Without proper training, people can get dead really quick working with loads like this.

Yeah their technology is a game changer. Like when the whole turret rips off the truck and topples over
Not likely at all. When this equipment is used correctly and within it's limits it makes these picks easily. No turrets coming off these trucks.
