Yeah best presedure is to paint the main parts with a lacquer based paint like Mr color or Gaia modo paints and then pick out the details with a brush using enamel paints such as Testors, Humbrol or even Tamiya's enamels. If you do a mistake you can easily remove youre faults without stripping the lacquer since it wont react to enamel thinners.
What would be the best chose of parts for some small line of fisher price imaginext figures I collect. I'm a novice and looked for some advice. The imaginext figure are small about three inches, if you ever have seen them in stores you end up getting a lot doubles when trying to complete set. So I want to upcycle a few the newer toys that are base on DC characters. Please let me know if you have any advice.
For some reason all three of my new Model Master Acrylic paints peel when they been dried for over a week after being airbrushed and thinned with Model Master Acrylic thinner. What am I doing wrong? I used Tamiya masking tape on it after it’s fully dried and all three colors peeled or flakes off. Is it because I didn’t use a primer ? My other paints such as Tamiya work and stick fine. Is it because I thinned too much? Thanks.
Simple answer is yes, either Tamiya surface or the Model Masters is what I use. The Model Masters is really good in brush applications as well, like engine and stuff. I love how the paint is self leveling when thinned properly , black will go a long way. I use a lot of this paint for brushing and for painting car bodies. Most of the Model Masters acrylics are airbrush ready straight out of the bottle, I usually add a drop or two of thinner and spray at 25 to 30 psi. I do wish it was as cheap as Tamiys though, 4 bucks per bottle is expensive.
A shame Rust-O-Leum bought Model Master out and are discontinuing the line...no more Testors either. Guess everybody is about to start getting paint from Japan.
Edward Palomin make sure you're not using enamel. Enamel won't dry on soft plastic. The acrylic Model Master can be thinned with Testors Universal Acrylic Thinner.
yes the testers is enamel.. but the model is acrylic... well thanks I will try the thinner.. any tips on what type of brush or techniques for painting the eyes of action figures?
It's not varnish. I use exclusively acrylic paint on everything I do. When I do thin it, I honestly don't have any specific ratio that I use, I just thin it to the consistency I happen to need at the time.
are the model masters good for painting gundams? how long do people ideally wait between painting coats?
Oh they are awesome get a reducer if you're using acrylic and apply several things coats till you get desired opacity

Does the paint come off after a while or does it stay on?

Tamiya Surface Primer or the Model Masters primer is what I meant. Makes a big difference in how the paint sticks versus bare plastic.

Omg really?? That explains why I can't find it anymore. Enamel is everywhere but there's little to no Model Master Acrylics.
how long does this paint take to dry? I have some model master and testors.. for some reason the green and red are too thick and never dries????

Turn the music up I can still just about hear you!

thank you sir
Had to turn it off in one minute. The music was too loud. So I can't say if I got anything out of the video.
after approx 1 minute, the constant music is distracting.
