Dave Canterbury..ive been a Tree Trimmer (electricity line clearance) for the last 35 years. We practice and preach the "45" everyday...first time ive heard someone reference this outside of work...Great vid man...🌲🌲
This is great stuff. I remember when my daughter was doing trig at school and couldn't see the point of it, so i showed a few things like this. Thanks Dave
Truly an interesting video. I’m studying physics at the moment to be an engineer, and I’ve found helpful things like this for so many different solutions using common angles to solve problems. Really neat!
It is so weird, I have a video uploading now where I stress the 45 degree angles in shelter setup. From driving stakes in to pulling guy lines out and even the pitch of the shelter. We must have been on the same 45 degree wavelength today, just applied in different ways. Good stuff as always.
Nice quick simple stuff Dave I hope this saves someone's life one day been using these methods for 35+ years in all sorts of environments and countries it works and is easy enough to remember even when tired or stressed. Well put across cheers Phil.
Figured it out. "Clinometer" basically a simplified transit. Make a triangle devise out of a small piece of paper, square paper, keep level while sighting along the 45 angle to the top of object being measured, the rest...you know. I think I now remember this from my old Boy scout handbook. This stuff is so cool!
Thanks, Dave. Those are uses for simple math that I haven't thought of since school. I never liked math, and it never occurred to me that there are ways that "I" could use math for bushcraft. You make things that I think are complicated so clear and simple. You have such a logical mind and your way of demonstrating techniques is incredible.
Great stuff David. For sure & certain admire the hell how ya related it to Bushcraft & Wilderness navigation. Damn son, you're way smarter than the average bear. The simplest way my old geezer pea brain remembers is... the sum of all three sides of a Triangle MUST equal 180 degrees. This goes for Right Triangles, Isosceles Triangles, Equilateral Triangles, Obtuse Triangles...you name it. If the sum of all three sides don't add up too 180 degrees... it's not a Triangle.
Who has a stuffed "grinner" in the background??!!??!! Great info!!! NEVER expect that much thought or depth from an Army guy... Thanks Dave!!! Sempre Fi!!!
Hey Dave I got the PKS as a gift from a subscriber of mine. I did an unboxing video on it and will be doing a video on putting the scales on the blade soon. The Knife is super Awesome. Its going to make a great bushcraft knife. Keep up the great work brother. Your pal, Spicy.
Bruh.....I would've paid so much more attention in trigonometry class if they had provided real life examples of how the pythagorean theorem had real, modern-day world uses.
Is that a possum hanging next to your board? What's it's story and what's his name ? My 5 year old watches most of your videos with me. She calls him Jeffery
Very savvy bushlore uses of geometry . Thanks Dave, for doing these shorter vids in addition to the regular ones . ATB
Excellent series Dave. Thank you.
Thanks for sharing Dave I am really enjoying the 5 min to better Bushcraft.
This is why I subscribe. Thanks Dave.

Very informative...thanks
Very good. Thank you very much
Great video. Enjoyed it and God Bless
Good info Dave.
Nice work Dave! Enjoying the series.
👍👍 Really liking these quick easy but efficient ideas you are sharing!! Thank you!!
Great stuff. Thanks for putting this one out
This was a very intelligent bit of information & teaching.
Very well done Dave, thanks for the video sir.

The Alabama Bushcrafter
Good refresher. I have not used those principles in about 20 years.
Nice, thanks for sharing...
Thanks man.... I enjoyed that..
Great info Dave
Dave I love these!
Very informative and easily understood. Thanks.

you went over this ages ago i think and i still use it :)
Can't get enough of Dave's videos lol
Wow man. This video is to watch it again. Simple awesome stuff!
I really enjoyed this segment I hope you have a few more coming up when you can thank you sir have a good evening
Thank you Dave

Outstanding, especially the distance across the stream method.
Loving this video series all the way from Scotland Dave!
that is great useful information. Thanks.
LOVE WRITING THESE 5 MIN VIDEO NOTES TO MY SURVIVAL BOOK
What's up brother....great great video
Going to use this in my geometry class when we get to angles. Thanks Dave.
Thankyou for your videos, these new ones are great!
Fist bumps 👊👊👊👊👊, high fives/pats on the back ✋✋✋✋✋
That is a very interesting technique Dave. Great segment in the series, and I think a lot of people need to have this in their mental toolbox.
I never thought about getting back to camp that way. Great information. 👍👍😎🇺🇸
Excellent info, did I miss the part on how to determine a 45° incline, the "inclinometer", mentioned at the begining? Thanks

The efficacy of this technic also relies on a 90° angle for the base out to the measuring point for the 45° angle.
thank you for this great video series! we love to see more of them!
Awesome info! I really need more dirt time to practice my skills and this is something I really need to learn. Thanks Dave for the great videos!

I love dry erase boards, they're remarkable.
Nice to know.. I learned today!! Yessss

Why would a Jar Head think anything :-)
Gonna have to watch this one a few times. Wow that was some fast explaining.
Grate video, very interesting !!!
You just did what my middle school geometry teacher couldn't do and told me where I will use this crap in real life.
great idea for a series dave short but sweet
Excellent topic and very good video with lots of information. Thanks for sharing your knowledge. Oh, and this is my favorite channel too!!
Thank you
Thank you!
Great info just noticed your left handed less than 3% of people are left handed the same goes for Genius,
Great stuff.
Simplified trigonometry! That's no slur, simple is good.
Thanks very much!

Yep. 8th grade geometry. Good video.

Smart man..
Awesome info. BTW - THERE'S A POSSUM RIGHT BEHIND YOU! :-)
Brilliant
Nice one. Widow makers make widows!
Pretty cool🙂👍🏻 Pythagorean Theorem 🤓
could you make a simple pamphet on navigation.
Rubbing alcohol and fuel alcohol will clean old built up dry eraser and permanent marker from the board with out damage
What's up Dave
I am wondering how you know the distance to go before you turn 90 degrees to give you the 45?
45° is also the best angle to chop a log, or my personal favourite is to hold my beer can at that angle🍻👍😁
Angular Advantages? Oh you mean the Pythagorean theorem or the 3,4,5 method.
So how do we figure out how far it is across the river?
Never discussed the clinometer.

What's the brand chew your chewing?
Aka "triangulation" same concept used in laser designators. (ground point a, ground point b, and satellite.)
Is that a possum hanging next to your board? What's it's story and what's his name ? My 5 year old watches most of your videos with me. She calls him Jeffery
No need to get a tan. lol
What?
