  • It's been a year since we first met Olajuwon Ajanaku and Earl A. Cooper, the founders of Eastside Golf. Since then, the pair have taken the clothing/lifestyle golf brand to exciting new heights with an impressive list of actors and athletes sporting their gear both on and off the course. But now, the mission of Eastside has evolved beyond selling clothes. It's become a driving force to get more minorities into golf's highest level, and Olajuwon and Earl are determined to see it happen sooner than later.
In this Part 1 of 3 of Eastside Stories, sponsored by BMW, we hear what the guys have been up to and find out what they're focused on moving forward. They also tee it up with APGA pros Wyatt Worthington II and Nick Wade at TPC Sugarloaf.
Highlighting golf's fun, human, and humorous side. Golf is no longer just the stuffy world of middle-aged country club members. Skratch brings you golf content for a new generation.
From getting the most exotic tee times on Earth (see: Adventures in Golf) to digging into the game's interesting personalities (see: Skratching the Surface, Finding the Fairway), Skratch showcases a side of golf many would never get to see.

i worked in the maintenance crew at sugarloaf for 2 years, loved it there, the people and the course. got to play it twice once even with my dad! seeing all the camera shots from out there gave me a great deal of nostalgia, from the tee markers to the practice facility.

Love Eastside Golf. Have been a fan since I've seen them on "Earn Your Leisure" (EYL)

Why not try LIV for funding?

I mean, PGA is run by whites. They don't care about the colored folks unless you are TW. You folks are in the USA.

As of Wed, 8/31/2022, 5:43PST, there's 524 views and now two comments. Am I the only one who finds that intriguing?
I think it's RAD that these gentlemen are working towards future players coming into this great and sometimes maddening game.

Nice video, but when he says he thinks they might be the first company to make it to this level without a major company’s backing, he shows that he has no idea what companies are out there and where they came from.

Love the brand, but if your "mission" is to get more ethnic minorities involved in golf, $95 polo shirts, $70 snapback ball caps, and $130 headcovers aren't going to bridge that gap.
What I hear: Guys talking about getting more ethnic minorities on the PGA Tour. They're correct in that it takes money and resources starting at a very early age.
What I see: A BMW commercial (BMW sponsored the video), guys playing at a TPC Sugarloaf (which is a private club with an initiation fee of $30K - $60K and monthly dues of $300 - $600), and betting $50 per hole.
Yeah...but they want to get more minorities in golf. That just might work! How? The majority can't afford BMWs, private golf clubs or Eastside Golf apparel, so that leaves the minority. Not the ethnic minority, but the financial minority.
    Nice work...brothas.
