@@gTuya11definitely not, some higher belts will spit fire at you until you match them and calm them down. It's a place where they feel comfortable, usually there's a couple cops in the gym, they think they can get away with anything since they're buddy buddy. Usually it takes a couple tornados rolling through to strike fear in what is basically other predators trying to attack you if it is a foreign gym

Unfortunately, by Craig stating "they are coming for you", this shows the mentality of a large number of BJJ practitioners. They don't care if they hurt you, you're just a grappling dummy with a pulse. Having 2-3 people you can trust to train with is priceless.

I was that guy who was always hard with guests because I thought you need to show them how tough your club is, until I went for the first time being guest and felt how hard is when everyone attacks you, and what blessing is to have that one guy who is nice and who provides you with flow round necessary for rest. From then on I changed my point of view.

have to agree, to many people come out 100% with no regard for the safety of their training partners, y attitude is if you come super hard you better be ready for the same. I train with an older guy who has been doing BJJ for 30+ years, seems old but if you come hard he WILL hurt you then tell you not to be a jackass next time.

@@aplus1080 Well it goes both ways. Two things you should consider if you ever have prospects of becoming an instructor. Most of the people you train will be males. Second off, most of the females have been trained by males. How much responsibility falls on the teacher for how a student conducts themselves in training? Two teens have tried knocking me out in front of a crowd. Things went south and they broke soon thereafter their attempts failed. For the record, they both walked free of any real injuries. I recall a father who to this day sets his daughter up against young men with no real talent or respectable skill. She became her high schools second best wrestler. I'm talking about a father who would mock her in the ring until she was on the verge of crying and then berating her further to force adaptation. There's things that go on behind closed doors in the world of combat sports way beyond the scope of any camera. Look at yourself and realize your struggle. It's the same across the board for the person next to you. Try not to feel resent because the real villain is the suffering we all endure. Good luck.

We tell each other we're just gonna flow roll, then in a minute it turns into war. Neither person in the flow roll can be so stubborn, "just flow" can take years to do properly.
