Put Your Hood On with Longwood Graduate Studies

Want to participate in the virtual hooding from home, but aren’t sure what to do with that hood? Learn how to get hooded alongside Longwood graduate studies faculty and staff! This video will prepare you for your virtual hooding ceremony. Are you DIY-ing it or finding a friend or family member to participate? This tutorial should help you out either way. Step 1 - fold your hood
Step 2 - hold the loop and collar
Step 3 - fold over your forearm
Step 4 - present your hood
(bend down if necessary)
Step 5 - fold over the satin
Step 6 - tie the loop
About the Hooding Ceremony
In the traditional hooding ceremony each graduate receives an academic hood that signifies the field and the institution from which the degree was earned. The velvet identifies the field of the graduate’s degree and the blue and white satin indicates that the degree was earned at Longwood University.
