Your explanation of setting a North Star goal is very insightful. It really helps to have a clear direction in my language learning journey.
Great advice. Most students of English as a second language would love to be able to express themselves as well as the host of Cloud English; however that would be a most unrealistic goal for most of them. If your goal is to speak as well as David Muir and to write as well as John Steinbeck , you're probably setting your goals a little too high. Remember there should be no shame in speaking with an accent. In the years before General American became popular, most Americans spoke with a regional accent. Be kind to yourself. Set realistic goals for yourself. Don't pursue perfection
Great video 💪🏻
Wau, nice explanation.
Congrats teacher, God bless you, always..!
i try to study every day a little, because i know that there is always something new to learn in english.
Thank you very much, greetings from Bahía Blanca, Argentina. Like for the video.
¿Querías decir "ahí va un me gusta"? En ese caso tal vez sería mejor algo como "here's a like from me", o incuso "I wish I could like the video twice" si querés expresar que te gustó muchísimo el video. Son sugerencias nada más, basadas en los comentarios ingleses que suelo ver, pero seguro hay otras frases mejores. Un saludo!
@@masatami Muchas gracias amigo !!!
I want to improve my English to keep working abroad from home directly from Brazil. I'm earning in dollars a great salary for an IT professional, one day I'll be living abroad if I continue studying new technology and improve my communication to solve problems more fast.
3:01 I know. It's not the best goal. But you know "aim for the moon. If you miss, you will land among the stars".
Yes, as long as you have a metric for progress. That metric can be subjective, but it has to be there.
My goal is to make videos on UA-cam in English, I can get a conversation but it go out of me when I open the camera to make a video. What do you recommend me?
That's a great goal, and I do have a recommendation.
1 - Write a very simple outline around your topic. Don't write down exactly what you will say, just the basic ideas.
2 - Start recording with no pressure to speak. You can sit there for 5 minutes and say nothing if you like. Those 5 minutes can be removed in the editing process.
3 - Talk about each point, with as much time as you need to pause, look at your notes, think, whatever. Again, there is no pressure. Anything you don't want in the video can be edited out.
4 - Once you get through one video like that, you will find the next one is easier, and then next is esier, and easier, and easier.
The trick is to get started, and get over the initial pain of not knowing what to say on camera. Outlines are your tool to get you through that pain.
@@CloudEnglish thank you so much, I'll do everything you said 💪🏼
👏👏👏
💪💪💪
My goal is C1-C2 level. Clear goal ☝️
How will you measure that?
I had been learning english over than 5 years but just stuck in intermediete level,,
You're not alone akhi. Same experience. I'm actually in my sixth year, still intermediate. I doubt anybody feels the progress in this stage, though I believe it's really happening but we can't feel it.
@hishamonepackage7067 very good points. I call it the ‘last mile problem’. It seems you aren’t getting better because the things that got you here have diminishing returns.
Hi Luke. You really don't know how much you've helped me. I always check if you have anything new on Udemy. Are you planning on creating something new?
I'm working on finishing everything you created in the past years. And I'm pretty sure I'll be hungry for more.
It means a lot to hear this! I’m working on 3 projects. One will be a short course coverall all 12 verb tenses, with examples.
The other is an IELTS and TOEFL chatGPT course.
Following that, advanced phrasal verbs and advanced vocabulary.
But I would love to hear your suggestions or requests.
@@CloudEnglish
Actually I have a suggestion.
I just finished the common English mistakes course. The second half was perfect, especially when it started focusing on tenses, odd phrasing, and redundancy. These three subjects would be great for another course on mistakes.
@@CloudEnglish
I'm looking forward to the course about tenses and the one about phrasal verbs. I'll make sure I don't miss the others.
@@hishamonepackage7067 - Thank you for the suggestion. I may have to come up with an interesting angle as a follow-up to that.
how deep was that , i ve been thinking give up since a while because despite my effort i dont see any progress in my speaken skills
Stop music while you are explaining something how can we hear
What are you talking about, dude? I'm watching this using my phone and I can barely hear a background music. So, if you can't focus on what Luke is saying in this video due to some "distracting background music", you need to work more on your concentration.
@@alro7779 that. Is not concern you
@@ismaildirie I see that doesn't concern YOU either, dude.
You sound rude.
