If I understand your question correctly. the style you are referring to is Blues, or Blues Rock. In this Miyako solo the specific influence is mostly from the awesome Blues Rock musician, Gary Moore. Another big, non metal influence is Richie Blackmore who played in Deep Purple and Rainbow.....more Rock than Blues, but capable of both! Awesome song from Lovebites, thanks for supporting them!!🤘
Miyako's guitar solo at the beginning of the song shows her love and respect for Gary Moore. This is my favorite performance of all LOVEBITES songs. ---------- from Nippon *This is a text using Google Translate. I hope I conveyed my intentions correctly.
Loved the reaction. The "romantic" tone as you call it is achieved by using the neck pickup on the guitar. For most solos, the bridge pickup is used as it provides a brighter, more cutting tone. But the neck pickup is warmer and more mellow. It's not a difference of the pickups themselves, but where they're positioned on the guitar that creates that difference in tone.
No. It just allows a guitarist to change the flavor a bit. Only a minute and a half long, so don't bother reacting. But check out this video of Nemophila's Hazuki demonstrating one of Ibanez's J.Custom models. Note the switch beside the knobs. Through most of the demo, the switch is down. But at about :53, she flips it up for the tapping part to get that sound you like. ua-cam.com/video/WFw5nOd841Q/v-deo.html
@@snakewhisperer1 normally you'd be right - but Miyako definitely does not use the neck pickup for the solo sections in this song (nor most of the others where you might expect that...) - you can clearly see throughout the track that the pickup selector remains in the 'bridge' position. The tone is coming from her pedal board - a combination of overdrive and equalization I'm guessing. In fact, I've wondered why she doesn't use the neck pickup more on several occasions - particularly when she's using her Les Paul, but she doesn't. The only track where for sure she changes pickup selection is the most recent version of Liar, where she's playing her blue Infinite Trad Fullsize ST (strat), in the mid-section of the solo - you can clearly hear when she does this as the drive drops out of the sound and then later comes back. 🎸
@@GarageYears You're right. Miyako is using the bridge pickup. But I'm pretty sure Midori is using the neck pickup in the intro while Miyako is on the piano. Hard to see the switch from the lighting, but I have that same model guitar. Of course, I might be confused as to which tone Ross is referring to.
This is one of Lovebites' progiest songs with multiple tempo, time signature and Key changes throughout the track. It's melodic storytelling at its best. Miyako's solo is a blues rock-style that's popularized by the likes of Gary Moore, who is one of her guitar influences. If you want to hear more Gary Moore-esque solos and more melodic storytelling, I recommend "Epilogue" LIVE : ua-cam.com/video/JIAJYBuuKGM/v-deo.html .
Since you loved this and A Frozen Serenade, I'd recommend Epilogue (with subtitles) Daughters of the Dawn Live in Tokyo 2019. It has those long guitar notes by Miyako you love.
LOVEBITES - Edge Of The World lyrics: Why do we learn to hate, deceive and lie, hurt each other? Why does it never end? The sorrow keeps on repeating Wailing, come downpours of the rain Will it end? Great reaction. This is my favorite version of Edge of the World. If you feel Iron Maiden from Lovebites, you are damned right. Maiden is where they started from, and they even wrote a tribute to Aces High Iron Maiden. The Crusade ua-cam.com/video/X-pMhF0f-UQ/v-deo.html
Another great Lovebites song. Regarding Miyako's guitar solo holding those long notes. One of Miyako's guitar inspirations is Gary Moore. Knowing Gary Moore, this has his styling. Check out Gary Moore - The Loner. I'd recommend live in Stockholm but its 15:22 long.
3 years of listening to this song and it gives me goosebumps every single time. On the Judgement Day tour this was the penultimate song of the main set and so I got to hear it in all its glory 3 times. The goosebumps from those performances rivalled Fuji-san itself.
back in the 60's we used to refer to that effect on midori's opening guitar part fuzztone. it was popular in some surf music. ha ha - don't know what they call it now
continues the e-song's lovebites, empty daydream, epilogue. same touch, you will got the same feels, liar, rising, my orion. btw, thank you, sir for supports for lovebites, from wolfpack. 😊😊 p.s. btw, for your information, (alread confirmed), all members are playin' piano, even haruna, the metronome girl. plus fami, the bassist also a violinist. so, don't surprise if every song they were creates is new adventureous, without leaving their root, "old school metal." 😊😊
As I always said, "Edge Of The Day" has it all! But "A Frozen Serenade" is another one, that is always in my Top 5 or at least Top 10, although it's extremely difficult to create suche a top list... Let's say, both are masterpieces in their own right! Check out "Swan Song (with Chopin intro)"...
This style of song writing is progressive as the song progresses from one movement to the next and the next, as oppose to having a more traditional structure of following verses with choruses and back to next verse, bridge, then instrumental, then back to verse and chorus.
Thank you for your pleasant response. LOVEBITEs ballad defies expectations in a good way. I feel Dragon Ball when it changes to up tempo. Is it just me? Marvelous ooooooo🐺🔥🤘
Great reaction. This is one of their many masterpieces. And one of their encouragement songs. I see a development od mood and tempo: From "slow and low" in the beginning (Blues, shadowy vibe) across musical bridges and through tempo transitions, to the final breakthrough of quick tempo (Haruna's fast-paced double bass beat, as you correctly mentioned) and the bright lyrics. I personally find the final general appeal (to stick to confidence, and to shape this world and life in a positive way) very touching. To me, this is _halfway_ *Happy* Metal, picking the listeners up in burdened mood, and leading them to light and confidence. That is what I _love_ Lovebites for. And Nemophila, too, by the way. 😊
Great reaction K-Ross!! You came across to another Lovebites’ masterpiece!! When Miyako goes in her solo-melodic part she becomes instantly the second singer of the band…that guitar sings ….. incredible band, they play in their own league …..
You have started the best 3 ‘E’ songs of Lovebites, the next one should be Empty Dream, then with Epilogue as the finale, you would not be regret to listen in this order 👍, enjoy the journey😊
One of the 3 masterpiece "E" songs from this insanely talented band. Swan Song with Chopin piano intro is another great song that shows off their diverse skills and talents, ua-cam.com/video/dcMVtrvpJpk/v-deo.html
Miyako also has already stated one of her guitar heroes is Gary Moore....which you can definitely hear in her slower solo. Moore has been a favorite of mine since around 82.
Well, as already mentioned, 'Edge Of The World' is part of the "E-Trilogy", which in my opinion only consists of masterpieces by LB. Frozen Serenade, Swan Song and this one - all masterpieces. I wouldn't argue with anyone who held any of those as their favorite or as the masterpiece - or any other of their songs for that matter. Having said that, I'd probably classify this one though as their Stairway. It's just epic in nature, with a story to tell, and chapters to unfold. And it is beautiful. Given this reaction though, I have to say, you really need to hear the other "E" songs, in Epilogue ua-cam.com/video/SYF68seEM7Q/v-deo.html and Empty Daydream ua-cam.com/video/BkPxcnsRjlk/v-deo.html
Personally, I don't think "Stairway to Heaven" is the benchmark--it's not even Zeppelin's best song. Kashmir is far greater song, but what they all have in common is the measured start that slowly builds to a big climax. The model for this sort of thing is Ravel's "Bolero", which was literally banned in some places for being too much like, well, sex. Thanks for continuing to feature Lovebites--they are setting the bar in metal.

Does a song get more perfect than this? These ladies know how to craft and play masterpieces. I too love that guitar tone so much! 😍🎸🎹
That slow solo by Miyako is about as classic a blues solo as you can get. That "crying" sound is a pinch harmonic.
