Yep b and I’ll be out there door if you can’t 😂 it won’t in this era
That’s usually what happens if we do take the doc fee off somehow your car may cost a little more but people think they got a discount because they don’t see the fee anymore
@@trainmapgreat advice!!
Just reserved a 2025 Camry at a dealership and they tried putting on $1300 in add-ons. Got them to take off the "protection" package, but they wouldn't budge on $300 VIN etching. Got up and and walked out, and had the guy flagging me down as I was driving out to tell me they'd take it off.
I had something similar happened and ended up paying 500 less than I had offered to pay earlier.
I walked out over some scam feed they refused to take off. The guy followed me all the way to my car saying he take them off.
I said too late you wanted to waste my time playing games now I don't want it.
When I was about to drive off he knocked on my window and said he'd do it for 200 less. I said 500 or I leave right now. Moved the shifter to drive and he said ok.
How much did you get it for in the end?
@@thistamndypo I ended up going to a different dealership and cancelling my reservation at the above dealership. I ended up getting the car for $34K OTD (MSRP of $34.5K), so about $2K off MSRP. This one is a fully loaded SE, so it has a lot more features too, compared to the other one.

But if you make over 75k a year what does it matter to pay 500 a month ? I’d rather pay 1500 a month and finish paying it off in less than the 72 months they give you to pay it off in , and avoid interest fees
@@spanishatownisn’t longevity better?
Yeah the dealer tried that with me on a pre-owned car ..I said what are these prep fees..he said when we get the cars we have to fill with fluids . I said it's pre-owned..it's got fluids than I said I'm paying 18000 cash take them off or I'll go somewhere else
The bank pays cash too.
Go somewhere else lmaooo
Thank you, I will begin my out of state vehicle purchase next week and this is very helpful. Fingers crossed everything goes super smoothly.
In my state the doc fee has to be what it actually costs to print those documents. However, the AG has given dealers a sweetheart deal to never investigate unless the doc fee is over $200. So all doc fees are always $200 and no dealer ever wants to get rid of that. So when negotiating I tell them I want an additional $200 off to offset that nonsense and they can keep that doc fee line item on the sheet.
In TN, they go from 500 to $1000.00 . Now 95% of the time, they will drop them .
California Doc fees is $85!. Anything above that is a scam
In illinois, the most they can charge is $358 and they all do. $358 to printout some pdfs and to get them signed. 🤦🏽
@@kifley19yep very true
When it comes to the doc fee ask them to drop the vehicle price by the difference between what they insist on charging for the fee and the amount you are willing to pay. All they can say is no and you can also say no.
I do the same thing. I'm not paying someone to email a registration form I can do myself in about 5 minutes.
Thanks so much i was about to buy a 2019 Range Rover Sport with 36,623 miles on it. I called the dealership to know moee about the prep fees & dealership fees and all of a sudden i put them on the spot. The manager was in a meeting it took the salesman 5 minutes to tell me that. I am getting my Range Rover Sport From a Land Rover dealership...life saver..
Love to see you take a trip to Florida and tell them you want to pay 300 on the doc fee. I’ve never seen a franchise dealer that doesn’t charge 1000-1200 for the doc fee
Lmao bro Florida ain’t going to sell you a car if you don’t pay their standard fees in general meaning doc fee, PTA fee, electronic filing fee. They would rather auction that shit off and sell in auction then sell it to you. In Florida the only thing you can negotiate is a package price or any other fee that isn’t a standard fee that all Florida dealer mostly have like a reconditioning fee
Exactly!!
This is why you should be willing to go out of state sometimes. Especially if you work the deal over the phone/email.
$600 in adds on must be nice. Just went to Kia they gave us a discount on MSRP but they had over $3k in add ons and refused to take them off. We ended up walking. STOP TRYING TO FORCE PEOPLE TO PAY FOR THINGS THEY DIDNT ASK FOR OR SEE VALUE IN!!!
My car dealership just called me and act like they paperwork was messed up and I had to resign the papers. But when I got home I noticed they added $600 and basically re wrote my contract. I'm thinking if I should take legal action. Bcuz I was deceived
That is a bait and switch. Definitely talk to an attorney, especially if you still have a copy of the original contract.
They sold you the car but messed up the paperwork? Sounds like a 'them' problem to me no? Why do you have to resign anything? They gave you the contract already, if it's messed up that's on them, can't you make them take you to court instead of incurring the cost of speaking to a lawyer?
It's crazy that some states do not have a maximum amount they can charge for the Doc Fee. In Oregon, we cannot legally charge more than $150. We talked to a Dealer in UT a couple years ago and they charge around $500 for theirs... insane.
Looking at cars in Massachusetts, Farmingham to be exact. Doc fee $649
@@tanzaniabrown788 that’s crazy 🤯
@@TheDealershipLife Indeed. It's Framingham, sorry about typo.
I was able to talk to a Toyota dealership person and they told me that they price car $5000 extra. I am a friend of the guy as I was in the process of getting a salesman job.
Called and spoke to someone at a dealership. Ask for the price and they said oh to come in and we’ll talk. I said thanks and have a nice day.
Someone else called with the full price within 15 mins. 🤦🏻♂️
I believe you😭
I dont pay over 75 doc fee and whats a non tax fee
It’s your registration
I lived that "Dealer M/U" life.... LoL
Those were the days.....
$400 tint that cost me 50
I always get them to budge on every fee but they never take that doc paperwork fee off, I live in Illinois, they always charge state allowable price
Prep fee $500!! The pay the lubies $15h to do that on the side.
I almost bought a used car for about $8000 a few years back. The "processing fee" was $1000, I saw that before I even started talking numbers and said "is that negotiable" the salesperson said no. So, I said "have a nice day".
Interest rates will always go alot lower than they say. And never finance vehicle options or accessories. They add up BIG TIME over the loan term. Paying interest rates on accessories is just foolish.
What are non tax fees😂 is that just literally fees cuz we pay taxes or something
I'm not paying a Document fee....I buy the car, you WILL give me the documents that you owe me free of charge....
If you get up and walk out they take them off too
They already charging $700 doc fee I don't know how people pay for that 🤷🏼♂️🤷🏼♂️.
I’m looking to buy a car online, it says there’s 4k in taxes and 850 in ownership tax. What’s the difference and why is it separate from the 4k? That’s a total of $4800 in taxes alone.😢
Follow the 10 commandments and repent from your sins. Jesus is the only way to heaven and he loves you and will always forgive you!
What is NON TAX FEE🤔
Title and license
Tell them the doc fee is 250, not 300
Sorry what’s a doc fee?
Bring the car to what your holdback is and go 1k below
Yeah good luck doing this if you’re borrowing from a sub prime lender
Buy used car from individual and avoid this
BS.
That individual will avoid any bs that comes after the sale took place. Like any malfunctions that a dealership would have to pay for
@@Luminex16 yea, good thing I’m a Mechanic…
Good luck with all that. Why not just negotiate and out the door price that would be better
I hope you can come with me to buy a new car. I am not good at negotiations and I will most probably end up being ripped off.
Its not even really negotiations. You just have to go in with confidence and never back down. Pay the sticker price but no additional BS fees.
