Nice 6 layer design, Thanks for walking us through the history and the tools. Appreciate it, Slippy.
Thank you John! 100% a SAK addict 😂
10:04 you always make me feel like a mad lad for carrying a swisschamp everyday. Although being a Florida man I guess I should be used to that.
I mean, I'd happily carry one, just on my hip not in my pocket
I didn't know there was several variations of the Swiss Champ, so thanks for sharing and teaching me something new. 🤔👍 Take care my friend and Cheers!
Glad you enjoyed!
The Champion Plus is my favorite model.
Awesome
Some really interesting information! That SAK is definitely rockin and a great one in your collection! Thank you and I hope you have a great weekend!
Thanks for watching!
Very cool! Thanks or taking us through the tools on this model!
Any time!
Very cool piece! Thanks for the look at it, buddy!
No problem 👍
Cool knife and a very interesting history lesson on the evolution of it. Thanks for sharing and have a great day.
Thank you Stan
Very cool one, great video as well!! love you brother!
Thank you kindly, love you
I love your content!!! I wanted to point out that the A/B denotation on the Champion is not one of generation. It is in regards to if the knife had the cork screw or the Philips driver on the back. The Champion C was named as such because it incorporated the inline Philips meaning that there was no longer a need for two variants and thus no need to denote accordingly. I'm not one to usually make corrections but this misconception is somewhat pervasive.
Appreciate it brother
I had the one with the bale back in the 70s. It fell out of my pocket in the the woods and couldn't find it. I was gutted !
I'd also be gutted 😔
Cool.
Thank you
Lord have mercy, that is sweet you have sum beauty's forsure, always love watching your tutorials on SAK's, I would take sum 3000 grit paper and sand out the scratches on the saw with out getting the teeth, always informative brother 🇺🇲🙏😎
Thank you so much!
This model is cool. Do you have Bantam alox?
I do, it's awesome
Thannks for showing- I have a Victorinox cybertool with transparent red plus scales- I have had it for a long time and am trying to determin the age
What is on the tang stamps Kathleen?
@@SlipjointSawyer Victorinox Switzetland Stainless Rostfei and +(UMbrella symbol) Officer Suisse
@@kathleensmith370 is the V in Victorinox the same size as all the letters? And does the + touch the symbol?
@@SlipjointSawyer V is slightly larger- + sign does not touch but I had to get a magnifieir to check that- it is very close. I dont think they sell this model any more
@@kathleensmith370 model is discontinued, yours is dated '86-'92
I have 2 of them
Awesome
The Champion was my very first model back in 85! I was un decided on it for weeks but finally got it! About three months later the Swisschamp came out so i then ended up getting one of them as well! This all leads to the purchase addiction of swiss knives ?
Good choice!
That was the second SAK I ever bought, back in the early 1980’s, I bought it used at a flea market at the time I was thrilled with
the magnifying glass. That version is 8x magnification, the current version is 6x and there was a in between version with
a plastic lens that was 5x (per SAKWIKI) The plastic lens version had problems with the lens falling out and it scratched
very easily. For a long time I would not buy a knife if it had the clear housing because it's hard to tell if you are getting
the one with the plastic lens.
Amazing, thank you for watching
Great video. I have one of these with red covers. Never could find any info on it or exactly what model it was. Belonged to my grandfather. 👍
Glad I could help
I bought this exact version in red in ~86, not as snappy as yours 😀 like corkscrew needs to be pushed back etc. but everything works ok. Just got plus scales with tools and replaced scissors spring, good to go, next 30-40 years maintenance done😊
Thanks for the info!
The gray plastic magnifyer is 8 times magnification, it's the new clear plastic magnifyer that is 6 times. That model doesn't have a chisel it is a small flathead screwdriver for deeper reach than the one on the can opener.
Thank you 😊
magnifying glass and inline phillips were added in 73. That model looks like 80 to 85 to me because of the way the saw tip has the protector and that came out in 80. Flitz all the implements and that will look almost new. It's crazy how cheap you can get that era Champion's for because there were so many of them. I see them for $50 to $60 frequently. The black with black tweezers and toothpick looks sexy. Black scales look great with black scale tools. I wish they made black tipped pen and black mini screwdriver. The the black ball straight pins are great and I keep one in my black Compact and it's now the only 91mm Cellidor SAK I own and my other 91mm is an old Hardwood Spartan that has scale tools but no straight pin hole. Kind of in love with the old Hardwood Spartan with scale tools and I didn't think I was going to like it that much but it looks so good and it's a touch lighter and thinner than my Compact and I don't need scissors since my SwissCard Lite has the scissors the pen and straight pin in it.
Fountain of knowledge as always, appreciate it brother
Thanks Slippy, one of Victorinox greatest designs in my opinion. I have the same or similar model received as a birthday present from my mother in 1976, have carried it every day since. It is now well worn but still fully functional. Had to glue the scales back on a few times after multiple drops. I have the current Champ also but much prefer the older model being a little smaller, l wish they would reintroduce it as for me it has the perfect combination of useful tools. So much so that I've never needed to move to a multi tool although I have a few leatherman tools, they just aren't as everyday useful as the old Champion. A negative I've noticed on the new SAKS is they grind too much off the point of the Philips screw driver making it far less versatile, compare your old one to the new one and you will see what I mean. I notice you always refer to the notch on the bottle opener as a wire bender, I believe it is a wire stripper and I think I have seen Victorinox refer to it as such. You simply nick the wires plastic covering with a blade then then hook the notch on to it against your thumb and strip the plastic off. I've stripped thousands of wires with mine when rewiring or replacing plugs etc. Thanks again for a great review of Victorinox greatest knife!
Amazing, thank you brother
In my collection as well 😊
So cool!
Sweeeeeeeeeet 🍬🍫🍭 #BBQRando loved it! 🚀🧨🔥
Thank you
The curate borrowed mine, then moved and never returned it😢Miss it a lot as the new one is far too big and expensive. 😭
Boo! Nooooo 😔
Didn’t watch.
Won’t watch.
Didn’t even see that in-line phillips or that magnifying glass.
Large file… ppphhhffft.
Demonic knives from hell.
I hate them.
I guess it’s ok if you like SAKs, so good job Slippy👊🏻
I'm reeling you in Tim 😂👀🙏🏻
