Stars of the show! Hollie Doyle and Tom Marquand on their brilliant Champions Day

- Jockeys Hollie Doyle and Tom Marquand won four of the six races on QIPCO British Champions Day, the richest raceday in Britain, at Ascot today.
Doyle, who recently broke her own record for wins in UK a season by a woman jockey, made the early running as she won the first two races - partnering Trueshan to success in the opening G2 QIPCO British Champions Long Distance Cup and then riding Glen Shiel to victory in the G1 QIPCO British Champions Sprint Stakes.
In almost symmetrical fashion, her boyfriend Tom Marquand then went on to ride the last two winners of the day, taking the G1 QIPCO Champion Stakes on Addeybb and the concluding Balmoral Handicap on Njord.
Having won two thirds of the races at Ascot between them plus two second places for Hollie Doyle, the couple have earned just upwards of £60,000 between them today and around £1.5 million for connections of the four horses. Not a bad day at the office one might say.
With no Flat racing taking place in the UK tomorrow, the couple will have Sunday to celebrate before both return to action on Monday.
Speaking together after the last race, today's success had certainly not gone to their heads with Hollie reflecting: "We live a pretty normal lifestyle outside racing, which probably surprises everyone."
Tom concluded the day by saying: "I have booked a place up the road for us for dinner tonight - I hope it's alright!"
Rod Street, Chief Executive of British Champions Series, said: "Once again, QIPCO British Champions Day has served up another afternoon of sensational racing and unforgettable stories.
"To see Hollie Doyle land the first two races and come out as the leading jockey for the day with her two seconds as well was amazing, especially after her record-breaking week. And then for her partner Tom Marquand to land the final two races on the card, including the UK's richest race in the QIPCO Champion Stakes, was brilliant.
"It really couldn't have happened to a nicer pair of people and they are both absolutely brilliant for racing. It was also great to see The Revenant go one better for France this year and continue the country's rich history of success at the meeting and for David Menuisier to land the Ascot winner that had eluded him.
"We would like to thank everyone who has supported the day and all the jockeys, trainers and owners for bringing their horses and creating such a memorable day."

What a great lovely couple, wish them all the best.
Indeed....how was you days punting bud any good ?
@@Selous_Scout Aye mate, I backed Bolger's 2yo at Leoprdstown called Poetic Flare 3/1. He always throws a good one at the dewhurst so when I seen it backed up here quickly after I thought he was worth a bet. Backed Surrounding 5/1 as well at the same meeting after seeing her dropped down into listed company. Had Dermot Welds filly, Search for a Song at Ascot after she was impressive winning the Irish St Ledger but she finished 2nd. I love following Dermot Weld at this time of the year. His horses always comes good at the back end of the season. What about u mate?
Astonishing achievement by an astonishing couple .
As a fan of the racing game it was a privilege to witness their success at the tail end of of an extraordinary season for them both.
Humble, gracious and self deprecating. Modest and generous in their acknowledgment s of the teams that supported them. It made me cry a bit.
My partner and I were talking only a week or so ago about the fact that this is the only sport where men and women compete against eachother on exactly equal terms.
It was a treat to hear Richard Hoiles highlighting this today. Thank you Richard for such an elegant mention of something that's so easily overlooked.
@Martin everything is a serious business. Life is a serious business. Being exceptional at what you do is a serious business. Being uplifted by what extraordinarily driven and gifted people do is a serious business. Celebrating deserved success is also a serious business. Being happy for other people is a serious business ...oh and enjoying anything is a serious business. Sport, film, music, art, comedy, theatre, food, breathing, nature oh...and being alive .
@@annenicholl6256 anne shut up you mug. you dont have a scooby
@Martin it's been an absolute pleasure.
Have a nice day.
@Martin try being polite and respectful of comments and points of view that don't coincide with your particular view of the world..
Have a lovely evening.
The two of them are great for racing. Such a fine crop of super young riders in the UK. Tom and Hollie are wonderful ambassadors for racing. Both were brilliant today!
Love them, honest, trustworthy and talented riders.
Both talented young riders. Future champions
Love, Holllie!!!!! Lots of female jocks in Australia, too....the U.S is so far behind....but I did talk to Sophie Doyle last year during a fund raising telethon for the injured jockey fund...
I miss Sophie being in the UK. Both the girls are great!
2 fantastic Young jockeys I wish both of them all the best 👍
Never seen an interview with Tom before. Some shoulders on him for a flat jock!
These two 💓
Also the equines. It gives me goosebumps thinking about these elite athletes.
And William and Maureen Haggas and John Gosden. Ballydoyle.
Are they magicians, sorcerers, wizards??
It's an endlessly fascinating mystery.
Oh... And the ITV team that makes this sport accessible in our living rooms.
Huge vote of thanks to them too.
nah they just silver spoon twats
Did you hear Tom say in interview at somepoint they were lucky too have rich parents 😂
@@matthewimhardbrucelee6995 they all cut from the same cloth. thats why its the sport of kings. haggas is a twat.
Yeah I know mate. My young daughter wanted riding lessons have told her to find a different interest 😂. Tom and Hollie are very likeable mind, I think a lot of the trainers/owners are stuck up pricks
@@matthewimhardbrucelee6995 yeh they are. the worst are hugo palmer gosden william knight. my friend was apprentice at knights. he told me he is the biggest cunt of em all.
Their best rides of the day will be tonight🤗
Paul Donohoe 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Holly getting horsed out of it 😂
Both are so talented, both will be stars in the future.
English King doesn't matter now :) congratulations to Tom and Hollie very well deserved successes for them both
Both of them especially Tom has SO much more power than Dettori has or ever had , just watch them he is Super Strong rider and Hollie is not far behind him in strength , both of them have taken their Jockeyship to a whole new level this year and they are World Class up with the very very best
Give your head a wobble, Dettori had 9 G1 wins at Marquands age (22) and in 4 countries. You’ve commented twice on this video (both digs at Dettori) when the main focus should be these guys’ success. Saying that you’re probably one of these ‘the sport will be better once Dettori is retired’ twats. You probably bring up English King every time you see Dettori lose/Marquand win, zzzzzzzzzz
@@TradingGalore What I am saying is what my eyes are seeing Tom Marquand IS a very VERY VERY VERY! Strong and forceful rider watch him closely and compare him to the old has-been over-rated over the hill Italian , Tom will get the better of him in most tight finishes he is simply SUPERB and so is Hollie and both are very tactically aware riders it is not just about brute force with either of them but it is a huge advantage to have over someone like Dettori who is past it now
@@WESSERPARAQUAT past it? One has a 25% strike rate this season while the other is at 15%, I’ll let you figure out which was around it is
@@WESSERPARAQUAT also rewatch the Park Stakes from Doncaster, who beat who by a short head in a ‘tight finish’
@@TradingGalore Dettori is not riding as much missing most of the week so being much more selective less rides but a higher strike rate because of that , Tom is much more busier riding 24/7 everywhere , Dettori is old now and slowing down i.e reduced amount of rides per week he should do us all a favour and retire and let Lester make another comeback would be more entertaining
Ascot, as always, at it's best. Addeybb so convincing.
Addyebb great stayer, see people Aus form 👌🏽👌🏽 10 to 1 absolute beauty
What Superstar's they both are - One or both of them is going to be champion Jockeys!!!
So happy for them and today was amazing, what sort of idiot puts a thumb down? Hayley turner 😏?
Star of the show..
my best two..
nice couple
unfortunately marqund didnt allow Hollie to win last race ( solid stone )
if that was so
i could could have been a milloner..
And u could then afford spelling lessons!,,😉
@@tonymurray814 haha
If you told me they were brother and sister I'd believe it, scary how similar they look. Great jockeys mind.
Bit like Frankel. when this lad goes to stud with Holly think of the super jockey they are going to pruduce
😍😍😍
The future of horse racing is in very good hands! Two fantastic jockeys, two wonderful human beings! Good things do happen to good people, the dedication, hard work, sweat and tears are all worth it. I have followed Hollie's career since I saw her win on Aguerooo at Southwell on New Year's Day 2016. She has just got better and better and the relationship with Tom has meant that I have followed his career too, and he has also just got better and better. I hope that they both stay safe, together and deserve all the good things that will hopefully come their way. A wonderful couple, Hollie is still my favourite! 🍀🤞🥰
Two super🌟 s'!
I am a simple Person , when I see Hollie riding a Horse, I place ew on it.
Marquand should go back to Australia where he could double his income . . . . . so could Hollie.
