No, infact it can get worse if the condition it's being kept in isn't changed. It will likely only get better if you keep it in the correct conditions aka heros get mycosis because they are being kept too wet, heros need it 100% bone dry except a light misting once every 1-2 months, with a water dish always offered every day.
Do you know any treatments for impactions? I don't wanna jump the gun here because I'm not out of the water yet, but one of my smaller plings had a pretty severe case of impaction and I just tried massaging the affected area, I gave it water, and then fed it a small wax worm and this has made the obstruction dislodge for the most part. There is still a lighter color bruise in the area but the rest of the pede is evenly thicc now and not emaciated. Before the pede was dangerously thin. I don't know if you have any experience with this and most cases of impaction are a death sentence within a few days but this little dude is doing great and is fairly active again 3 weeks later. It has also eaten a second wax worm since then too.
Well it takes a molt or 2 to fully go away after successful treatment. The matter of too much humidity really depends on the species you are working with. For instance, cherry reds can be kept really wet, as long as ventilation is super high and conditions clean, no issue will occur. If you have an S. Sp. White leg in high humidity for just a week even with adequate ventilation it can get mycosis just like heros. Species like heros and white leg almost always die after contracting even small bits of Mycosis. Mycosis attacks dry species like aztecorum/heros/white leg/Rio grande internally, in their spiricels and quickly overwhelms them, ending almost always in death no matter if you fix the issues fast.
HELLO I NEED HELP i think my Centipede is sick and i need advise i have a Scolopendra suspines and his back gets a bit white dusty idk if he is sick or something can i send you a picture?
Fungus is often adversely affected by salts and various other minerals, so I tried it years back and it worked wonders. However, DONT mix salt with substrates or ever use sand sourced at the beach side for substrates as heavy salinity in substrate can also kill the pede. I use sand with seasalt mixed in it for crabs but I've found it will quickly kill centipedes.
Lol. I don't get your notifications on my main account, but my business account, here you are somehow. Time to thin the sub list... PS for those curious. Humans get this too, and it is disgusting.
Humans can get a form of mycosis yes, it often effects under toe nails and places fungus can get stuck and happily grown. It is disgusting, typically people get it for the same reason pedes do, too high foot humidity, low ventilation and dirty conditions.
Just wanted to comment and say your videos are great and I love that you’re in the comments helping others with pedes! You rock!
Awesome video with great information
Ever in my life i thought watching a centipede get a belly rub treatment would be relaxing to watch
I wasn't aware about the difference in severity between desert and tropical pedes. Though it makes sense. Awesome video keep it up!
My scolopendra galapagoensis has mycosis and is pretty lethargic, is it too late for treatment?
7:12 looks like youre givin the fella a cute lil belly rub
I have a baby S. heros arizonensis that has some mycosis on his legs. should I worry about it or will it go away when it molts?

Mycosis is fatal to S. heros in most cases, even minor mycosis.

How did you anesthetize the scolopendra? They didn't just put him in the cold water, he would drown
Wow very intresting and good to know! nice video! Is it pretty hard for the mycosis to fully go away? And what causes this is it too much humidity?

How did you discover rock salt helps against the infected areas?

Does the high humidity only apply to overtime? I can one heavy misting cause it?
Is the knocking out method safe for millipedes as well?
I've never needed to knock a millipede out, they are easy to sex visually so I really couldn't tell you.
👍🏻
