Hello, i am from Russia and spent a shitload of watching videos on the 12 and the 12R as one of these is going to be my next phone. I gotta say, you take so many aspects others did not even dream about; the 'stuff inside the box' for example and how you compare it to other brands out there. Please keep on making such great videos, you have gained yourself a new Subscriber for sure. One thing I wonder about, not sure if you did mention it, but does it get hot/warm when watching UA-cam? Or streaming in general? All in one, again, a extremely good review. The english you speak also is by worlds more understanable than, for example, the Indian videos. I did not even need subtitles to actually understand something, that's gotta mean something! Thank you for this gem of a video!
I have the 12, it stays chilly during any regular phone task, streaming is like a walk in the park for it, barely consumes any power while streaming too. The only time it will get hot is when playing genshin impact or some other heavy game at max graphics and fps, to that end you can enable frame generation, which will make genshin for example run at 40 fps and generate frames to make it feel even better than regular 60, while drawing less power which means less heat as well. Not to mention that it cools down super fast once you are done pushing it.
Your comment means a lot to me Makes my effort totally worth it when I am able to help someone make a decision on a device The 12 does not get warm/hot at all while watching UA-cam or streaming The 12R is a great device as well
Just here to say my 12 never gets hot, even when charging. If anything it gets slightly warm but it's not just in one spot like all previous phones I've had, it disperses the heat all around so you hardly notice it.
The OP 12 has a Vapour Chamber to handle the heat and claims to be the biggest one compared to any other device and so far I haven't seen any heating issues with mine 😊
Yeah it's lame Sadly not much we can do because we all pretty much need a phone nowadays The phrase "vote with your wallet" gets thrown around but people still be buying Samsung, Google, and Apple and none of them have a charging brick in the box
if the charging speed didn't improve with every generation it would be fine, but one of the advertised things is 'hey the new phone charges faster', for which you need the new charger
@@aonodensetsu Exactly! And we want the faster charging and for the prices we pay for the devices we deserve the charging brick included in the box!! Do you know some manufacturers put the bricks in the box when selling to another region but not when selling in the US/North America region because they consider us "suckers" for putting up with it. Unfortunately we don't have as many choices for smartphones that work here either so it has become harder to "speak with our wallets". I bet if we boycotted upgrading one year, magically the big three (Apple, Samsung & Google) would put chargers back in the boxes.
Random thing I discovered, if you go into developer settings, you can make every animation faster than default and it makes the phone feel even faster.
Oh yes I've known this for a long time You can set them all to 0.5x I've found that doing this fan sometimes create slight stutters in the animations though
I can't believe we're paying over $1000 for a flagship but most nowadays are doing just that and people wonder why companies continue to raise their prices and we get lesser and lesser in the box pretty soon there will be no box just a phone delivery in a plastic sleeve and hand you the phone in store when you purchasing. Sam's will slowly upgrade things like charging speed to 60 watts maybe 2 or 3 years from now and charge $100 more 1399.99 s26 ultra
Demand. Other brands are smart and if you're not you will be replaced by the competitor. Products can get out of hand when they're needed and a convenience. Apple done this to this market. Samsung is fair in my opinion giving back to the customer and their product tree is massive and growing. Oneplus is less now, but what do you think will happen once the demand shifts to iphone or galaxy level. This is what we have to monitor. Other brands have several dedicated features and hardware, what does oneplus have. They are a decently priced, acceptable for many alternative for now, not a replacement for true galaxy ultra users. Too many things missing. The list is longer than you think, devices have the ability to provide mobile convenience and satisfaction at the highest level. Cross Compatibility, exclusive features, long term support, and essential function are the standards. Galaxy provides the best option, iphone provides the most popular, pixel provides the stock experience. Who can force their way in without looking like a limited clone.
@@TheMrreese24 Yea I been looking at cheaper flagship that offer more for your money like under $800. Eventually flagships will be for rich and dumb people who keep up with names
I would say One Plus 12 between price and product is shaking up the system you talk about. BTW OP12 rivals or bears the phones you talk about and anyone except fanboys know it. It has the same chip as the Samsung Ultra 24, except Samsung has a custom variant with a slight faster clock...put both phones under load and they both are throttled so they perform about equal on average. I could go in about the technicals but I will not bother. You can buy two OP12 with easily available discounts for the same price as certain flagships and you will get two free chargers and cables to boot. I am curious what the final sales figures are going to look like. We will see...have a good one. Remember you can bootload on OP...not on Samsung cause they take your money and say no.
I'm not much into taking pictures or videos (other than making videos on YT) so I can't really speak on that What I may do is make a short comparing video on my iPhone to the OnePlus, maybe even throw in the ZFlip5

I still have Oneplus 7 Pro, don’t feel like need to upgrade at all. Screen is amazing, battery is not top notch but it’s okay enough and is charging really fast. Very fast phone in its operation. I use this phone for work a lot for years now. It’s not missing a beat.
That's good to hear that OnePlus is reliable like that If a device is getting the job done in a timely manner then yeah no real need to upgrade I don't upgrade my phones because I need to it's more of an enthusiast hobby haha

@@hectorvelez79 Arrangement of what though? I don't know what you mean when you say "tiles." Are you talking about the apps on the home screen? Or the notification drawer?
That's a good question, I saw a video from a couple years ago where Gary explains demonstrated how OnePlus was much more aggressive in shutting stuff down in the background than Samsung and some others. But that must have been all the way back with like the OnePlus 9 or 10. Since then, there's now just more RAM. At least in some models, like the 12R has 16 GB of RAM for like a $30 upsell.
@@anthonytech yeah that is true, it looks to be a problem to get a decent 1 for this phone it’s about time with the technology we have they could make better curved screen protectors
There are two batteries and they charge in parallel. Only the OnePlus cables works in this mode. Also there is a conversion in the charger that on all other phones happens in the phone. This conversion keeps that extra heat in the charger instead of the phone. That helps preserve the battery. Heat is the enemy of batteries. Keeping that heat in the charger has been happening since the 3t and the double battery started around the 8t. Buy oneplus cables to use with oneplus chargers.
Yeah my OP12 doesn't get very warm while charging which I really like (excessive heat is bad) It's a bit of a bummer that you have to use OnePlus charger and cable in order to get the fast charging speeds without all the heat
@@anthonytech put it this way.... It gets the same amount of heat as other phones when hooked up to a standard high output power delivery USB C to USB c charger. It won't be full 80 watts (in the US) but rather half that, which is still faster than almost all phones. So in short, it has better than normal charging abilities with non OnePlus charger+cables, and ABNORMALLY faster+cooler abilities using the right charger+cable. It's a win/win. You CAN use cheaper gear and you CAN choose to reap the extra extra benefits of using their better, though more expensive stuff. You extend the battery life by using their lower heat system AND get a huge speed boost. The battery will last longer due to heat savings AND you will be quicker out the door with a full day's charge by simply charging as you brush your teeth and gather your stuff to leave (a ten or fifteen minute boost charge). I place my charger centrally in my house and plug in as I walk by sometime when I'm eating. That gives me a full charge, and if I missed a chance to charge, I do that last minute boost charge going out the door and I'll never run out of charge. I have the earlier OnePlus charger from my 3t days which does the in charger conversion but not double speed parallel battery charging.... But I stopped even using any car charging cuz it simply isn't needed to last the rest of the day. The OnePlus charging system is a game changer. It's not really a bummer. It can't change physics with non OnePlus gear, but it CAN do doubly clever stuff to give huge benefits. It's good both ways. I've only fully quick charged about 3 or 4 times using non OnePlus gear, but I plan a little and position my charger wisely to make using their system absolutely painless. And my battery will last longer than other phones simply by the heat savings. I'm cool with that. It's a bummerless phone! :-;
@@wote2760 if you have any 10 foot cables, use a program like Ampere to measure how much current us actually getting through. (There are no apps like that for iOS). I've used that app to check which cables work with which batteries and or chargers. You'll be surprised. Longer cables simply don't have enough metal in them to carry the current. There is a reason a cable that carries two times 50 watts is short. Since this system charges so incredibly fast you sort of don't need to install yourself somewhere comfortable with a long cable. Put a simple extension cord near where you charge most and use the OnePlus cables and charge for a very short time. Today I did it when I ate a quick lunch. I was suddenly at 100 percent. Then unplug. The goal is to get AWAY from having a plugged in phone. Believe me. This OnePlus super quick charging is a way to get freedom from cables.
Personally I wouldn't I'm not the biggest fan of OneUI but I do like it. OneUI definitely has OxygenOS beat in terms of customization. If you are curious what OxygenOS is like I would suggest just ordering one and seeing what you think. You have 2 weeks to return it
@@anthonytechI traded my 256gb s24 ultra for a 512gb one plus 12 and a one plus watch 2 and I love them. Other than the curved screen I have no complaints.
I just bought the Oneplus 12. Think ill keep it. Was debating between it and the s24. Im in the US. Wish there was more AI. Haven't gotten a new phone for a few years though so this is quite an upgrade for me. Bought the wireless charger. Didn't come w a brick only cable. Annoying for the price but what can you do. The phine came w the brick and cable. But i can't keep and extra charger in another location.
Yeah I heard OnePlus is working on AI Probably won't be as good as Samsung or Google You might have to buy another brick from OnePlus At least they include one in the box which is more than most phone makers do
I actually have the S24+ and just got the OnePlus 12 and I'll say the OP12's battery life is TOP NOTCH... I've transferred my info to the OP12 not to take anything away from the S24+ but the OnePlus I'm comfortable with the battery life is I don't have my charger on me
I am in your situation and after researching both excellent phones I agree with one reviewer that said the price of the OP 12 is so close in USAbto the OP12R that if you can afford it.. buy the OP12. If you live outside USA than that may change things. Here, you can get a OP12R base 8/128 for near low $300 with student discount stacked with other discounts.
Hello, I am very interested in this cell phone, but looking at the video I think your personal phone is a Samsung? why? I am very worried about switching to oxygen os
I've been dailying the OnePlus since my unboxing video a few weeks ago Samsung does have more customization overall, but OxygenOS is a great balance of feeling like near-stock android and incorporating a good amount of customization out of the box I think most people will really like OxygenOS
Exactly! Most people it seems do not understand that. Samsung makes you pay big bucks to own a phone and then tells you that you can not bootload...that ranks right up there with paying $1200 and getting no charger. OnePlus even shows how to do bootload... I have had Samsung and the more I study One Plus 12...I am impressed. I will have OP 12 or OP13 soon enough.
Hey man, a very thorough review great job maybe the best review I’ve seen of this phone on UA-cam .My only complaint or maybe criticism is the background and the view of the phone as you’re reviewing it . your content is really good but your presentation of it … it’s what’s keeping your channel from getting more viewers that part you need to work on. I just wanna repeat great job on the Content, but your delivery needs a bit more work.
I noticed something. It's been 4-5 days since I got my OnePlus 12 512gb and since day one I feel like the battery isn't as long lasting as I thought. I actually saw a video about a guy talking about different features and tips for this phone for 20 minutes and the battery didn't drop from 100%, it started with 100% and at the end it was still at 100%. But my phone after I fully charged it, and after about a few minutes and I wasn't even using the phone, it went down by 1% and I know that's not a huge deal maybe but I did notice this. Did I maybe received a bad unit? Or maybe OnePlus sends different units to the reviewers then what the customers get. But I have noticed that the battery drains a little bit faster then I expected or atleast what I saw from reviewers.
Continue using the phone how you normally would. I would maybe drain the battery down to 10% once or twice to let the phone have a near full charge cycle and to learn your usage Also make sure High performance mode isn't enabled. It could be draining your battery. Also check that your refresh rate is set to Auto. And lastly, make sure your screen resolution is set to 1080p unless you need it at 1440p. Let me know if this helps
I did drain the battery till shut down right after I charged it to 100% for the first time. And then I charged it to 100% . After that is when I noticed the power drop from 100% to 99%(the first comment is me talking about this particular experience) and I hadn't changed any settings. Then after using it for a while and downloading app, then I changed the settings, I only changed the refresh rate from 60hz to 120hz. I didn't change the resolution or any other settings Edit: I'll still change the refresh rate to auto and see If that works
Same here .am getting just 5 to 6 Hr SOT. With UA-cam usage. I have uninstalled a lot of apps as well to avoid battery consumption but I still face the same issue
@@anthonytech I tried draining the battery to 10% and then charging it. This Time I also waited for 2 minutes charging after the phone reached 100% and IT WORKED this time my phone didn't go down to 99% after a few minutes. I'll see if my phone has better battery life now. Though there's a new issue, I just installed a uv screen protector (the one with the glue) and I noticed that when I game, my phone gets hotter then it used to when I didn't have any kind of screen protector. I'm pretty sure that the heat dissipated through the screen and having a screen protector makes it harder for the phone to cool down, though I maybe be wrong on this
It depends on how much customization you like to do If you want to customize literally every aspect of your phone, go with Samsung If you want to save quite a bit of money while still getting a powerhouse device with some good customizations and features get the OnePlus
I agree with your assessment that the software is somwhere in the middle of Pixel stock "boring" UI (which I like) and Samsung's evermore complicated massively customizable OneUI. I'd say OnePlus is closer to Pixel than Samsung. Since when do we need a separate app Goodlock to do customizations in Samsung, just freaking nuts imo... Oxygen OS is not as good as it was in Carl Pei's days @ OnePlus for sure! But it's not bad. Thanks for the thorough review.
All phones have bugs. Updates and work around fix that. You can bootload with OnePlus and they will show you how. Try that with Samsung for example and they will say no.
Except for thezoom and the curved screen it beats thr s24u hands down I went from a oneplus 9 to a s24 ultra the Sot is 7 hours max not good for the price you pay
Yeah the curved display hasn't been an issue for me I do prefer flat displays like most people do though Definitely ticks a lot of boxes while undercutting other phones in price
Nice review. It is still hard for me to decide between the S24 Ultra and the OnePlus 12. Do you know of any custom ROMs for the OP12 that are good and will likely provide many years of Android updates?
If you have money go buy Samsung I am using op 12 and it's an amazing device right now only 2 roms are being developed only available for the testers not for normal users .

It is a great phone. Flagship phone at a midrange phone price. One thing I really like is that with the 8Gen3 chip and 12 GB of RAM, none of the apps I use lag at all. No freezing up. One of my older phones had reached the point where even simple ordinary apps were causing it to lag and freeze up. But not with this OnePlus 12 phone. Any app I throw at it works fine.
Speakers on OP12 have better tone but OP12R is louder. It will fill a room and how often do I need to do that. For the price of Apple I could buy two OP and play both at same time 😂😂 double volume and double speakers.
Ever since I got a Garmin smartwatch I've kept my OnePlus 9 Pro in vibrate mode, and even prior to that I rarely used the alert slider. I think its value is overrated
OnePlus 12 also doesn't come with the charger brick in the box Mine didn't come with one and its box was thinner than in the unboxing videos all over UA-cam Even though i got it from an official seller Found that to be a bit weird and disappointing
Did you purchase direct from OnePlus? It's suppose to come with a charger in the box If the box you received was thin and didn't include a charger I would be suspicious if it's a genuine device and if the seller is legitimate

I think on one carrier the China version does not have 5mmvw wave. If you got that version..you know this stuff already more than likely. Is it the white 1Tb.?
The idea behind Europe's push for devices without chargers in the box was that the life expectancy of a charger surpasses the life expectancy of a phone. Including a charger with every device is a waste and unnecessary cost.
I can understand that. Still though it's lame that phone manufacturers are taking away but still charging the same prices. Are we just going to excuse them when all we get is a device in an "eco friendly" envelope and not even a box anymore? Where do we draw the line, ya'know?
Yup, bet the phone manufacturers had lobbiest pushing that story. Do you realize how much they make selling folks chargers and do you think many people are using their old chargers on the new phones? Most old chargers are low wattage too. It is about the $$$$

Now keep mind the 65 watt charger is a bit of a perfect storm high point for chargers. For example it works fine computers charging at full speed including using on non OnePlus cables. But the new charger for the OnePlus 12 doesn't charge computers at even 65 watts. My wife's computer reports that it is low power. I also ordered the double port OnePlus charger and it isn't working as well using the mix of oneplus cables I've got. OnePlus sort of crossed a line with the new 100 watt chargers (I'm in Europe) they work correctly with OnePlus but might work with other devices, too. The 65 watt seemed to have fewer problems and it just worked. 13:50 that is because the USB A standard doesn't include more then 5 or maybe 10 watts... USBC on the other hand with Qualcom quick charge and/or power delivery can communicate with the "to be charged device" and agree on higher wattages and most importantly higher voltages keeping the hard to transmit current down ... Back in the day ONEPLUS used their own charging protocol. The gimmick there was that the phone wasn't heating up as much as others, because all the controlling the voltage for the battery happened in the brick... I don't know what the oppo charger does now though. But they ever since they also supported Qualcom quick charge and power delivery... Do your research my dude 😅 still nice video
Imo smaller box better. More eco friendly. Most phones don't have 80w charging just standard pd 3 or something like that so additional charger is not needed
Charger is definitely needed. Electronic devices require it to work. It is not the consumer's responsibility to purchase something that a device requires to work. You are a part of the problem.
It's true that people may not need a charger. But company's should include a charger with flagship phones. I think it's absolutely ridiculous that Samsung doesn't include chargers with the latest S series, they haven't for a long time. Yes most phones don't support 80w charging but the OnePlus does. And to my knowledge OnePlus phones are the fastest charging devices you can buy here in the US directly from the company and not have to import. Samsung, Google, and Apple all need faster charging. The OnsPlus charging has fundamentally changed my relationship with a smartphone.
I understand not giving a charger when a company buys in bulk for employees. Nobody's really going to care they didn't get a charger with a company iPhone SE or a cheap android phone. But not putting a charger in the box for a $1300 phone? Now that's a joke.

Going back and forth with Indians isn't fun when I can't understand them and once they made it official that the parcel was lost, they didn't do anything for my inconvenience.

I'm not 100% sure but I do know it keeps apps open in RAM very well and battery life is superb

@@Antsummerfield83 Yeah… I guess that’s a bit of a negative for the OP12
There are two batteries and they charge in parallel. Only the OnePlus cables works in this mode. Also there is a conversion in the charger that on all other phones happens in the phone. This conversion keeps that extra heat in the charger instead of the phone. That helps preserve the battery. Heat is the enemy of batteries. Keeping that heat in the charger has been happening since the 3t and the double battery started around the 8t.
Buy oneplus cables to use with oneplus chargers.
Yeah my OP12 doesn't get very warm while charging which I really like (excessive heat is bad)
It's a bit of a bummer that you have to use OnePlus charger and cable in order to get the fast charging speeds without all the heat
@@anthonytech put it this way.... It gets the same amount of heat as other phones when hooked up to a standard high output power delivery USB C to USB c charger. It won't be full 80 watts (in the US) but rather half that, which is still faster than almost all phones. So in short, it has better than normal charging abilities with non OnePlus charger+cables, and ABNORMALLY faster+cooler abilities using the right charger+cable. It's a win/win. You CAN use cheaper gear and you CAN choose to reap the extra extra benefits of using their better, though more expensive stuff. You extend the battery life by using their lower heat system AND get a huge speed boost. The battery will last longer due to heat savings AND you will be quicker out the door with a full day's charge by simply charging as you brush your teeth and gather your stuff to leave (a ten or fifteen minute boost charge).
I place my charger centrally in my house and plug in as I walk by sometime when I'm eating. That gives me a full charge, and if I missed a chance to charge, I do that last minute boost charge going out the door and I'll never run out of charge.
I have the earlier OnePlus charger from my 3t days which does the in charger conversion but not double speed parallel battery charging.... But I stopped even using any car charging cuz it simply isn't needed to last the rest of the day. The
OnePlus charging system is a game changer. It's not really a bummer. It can't change physics with non OnePlus gear, but it CAN do doubly clever stuff to give huge benefits. It's good both ways.
I've only fully quick charged about 3 or 4 times using non OnePlus gear, but I plan a little and position my charger wisely to make using their system absolutely painless. And my battery will last longer than other phones simply by the heat savings.
I'm cool with that.
It's a bummerless phone! :-;
It's free, included with the phone @@anthonytech
Wish they made longer cables like 10 ft
21:35 i think thats just an option for one handed use because its a big screen
Yeah I guess that makes a little more sense if you have app icons higher up the screen than I do

I have watched about every video about OP 12 and 12R and I like yours the best. If you had a hot stripper dancing it might spice things up Lol.
I would maybe drain the battery down to 10% once or twice to let the phone have a near full charge cycle and to learn your usage
Also make sure High performance mode isn't enabled.
I didn't change the resolution or any other settings
Edit: I'll still change the refresh rate to auto and see If that works
@@amitabhmallick1661 Let me know your screen on time when your battery gets down near 30%
You can find in Settings>Battery

Been rocking it since I made the initial unboxing

What better s23U vs OP12??
It depends on how much customization you like to do
If you want to customize literally every aspect of your phone, go with Samsung
If you want to save quite a bit of money while still getting a powerhouse device with some good customizations and features get the OnePlus

But that's how I wanted to present it
As if I were just talking to a friend and discussing the phone
Joe dirt do you even know what you're talking about
I know exactly what I'm talking about
Maybe you don't know what I'm talking about lol
Imo smaller box better. More eco friendly. Most phones don't have 80w charging just standard pd 3 or something like that so additional charger is not needed
Charger is definitely needed. Electronic devices require it to work. It is not the consumer's responsibility to purchase something that a device requires to work. You are a part of the problem.
@@mjjones1045 I don't need charger with every phone? I have like 10 spare chargers at home. Another one is just garbage that I pay for
It's true that people may not need a charger.
He's probably Indian too @@mjjones1045
I understand not giving a charger when a company buys in bulk for employees. Nobody's really going to care they didn't get a charger with a company iPhone SE or a cheap android phone. But not putting a charger in the box for a $1300 phone? Now that's a joke.
Ordered one was excited, even still have the case and screen protector but they fucking lost it. Going back and forth with Indians isn't fun when I can't understand them and once they made it official that the parcel was lost, they didn't do anything for my inconvenience. They just asked if I wanted another or refund. They didn't even try to convince me with fast shipping or something (first time buying OP). Never again. They got cool phones but ima stick to my new Sammy S24+
Dang.. that's a real bummer
It sucks when customers have a first time experience like that because it usually sways people away from a company, understandably
S24 plus is amazing
@renaldofriloux495 I wouldn't say amazing but I like it a lot more than my previous S22. That one sucked so much.
