Magda Lovei shines a light on African drylands

On Wednesday, October 8th, 2014, Magda Lovei was a studio guest on Voice of America’s Straight Talk Africa program to discuss this week’s topic: “what policies would you like to see African governments adopt to prevent or reverse dry lands/desertification on the African continent?”
Drylands in Sub-Saharan Africa account for 43% of land area, 50% of population - about 325 million people and 75% of agriculture lands. By 2030, 40 to 100 million more people could be sensitive to shocks in the drylands of East and West Africa and drylands could expand by up to 15% in the next few decades.
