You review made me think of the Netfix series The Collection... set in Paris 1947 about a designer who's designs look like Dior. Simply made me mad. Why not simply tell the true and much more interesting story of Christian Dior? My first encounter with New Look 1947 was 2012 or early 13' and I was just beginning my journey and studies in fragrance. The experience of my first sniff of New Look 1947 was shocking to me. .As shocking to my nose at Carmel Snow's (Editor of American Vogue) eyes were rocked in their sockets by Dior's 1947 launch from which she coined the moniker "The New Look" And why was I so unsettled and in fact thrilled by this fragrance? Because it was to my nose a throw back to the 1950's. I was locked into my scent memory of the women who swirled around me in my early childhood in just such perfumes. Hypnotic tendrils of perfume wafting from the crinolines and yards of skirts they floated past in. For me it was a beacon of hope. The hope that perfume was beginning to head toward a richer, more classic approach. Leaving the banality of aquatic nothingness behind. Abandoning the carnivalesque cotton candy of the fruity florals that could rot a tooth at first sniff. It is Noir, it is dark and glamorous. It is to me simply mysterious and locked into a destiny of dark wonder and the scent of danger.
Dearest Lanier! WOW! What vision!!! And to think that we both had the same vision!!! INCREDIBLE! To me the noir feel of this fragrance stems from the contarst of light flowers and deep roots mixed with Demachy's obsession for vanilla... To me NEW LOOK 1947 should have been CHANEL's ALLURE... it would all make much more sense to me that way... with a bit less vanilla... On another note, I was thinking, it would be amazing to create a les exclusifs fragrance called "film Noir" or "50's Noir" or "Noir N°50".... ;) Just a thought... coco coco coco
I completely agree that this fragrance jumps around, in the best way! It’s absolutely gorgeous - warm, woody, deep floral, vanilla. My fav fragrance of all time!
Thanks for reviewing this fragrance after you recommended it to me. Loved the review, this one sounds very intriguing. I hope they still sell the smaller samples. I have been spraying fragrances on my wrist and top of hand lately as well. Yes, you have an influence on me, even subconsciously. Hope you are feeling better now! Xoxo!
Hi Dacob, great review! I just discovered New Look 1947 today and I find this chocolatey-spicey-woody accord from Dior Addict here. It also reminds me of Chanel Bois des Iles. So I think there is sandalwood in there. Eva
I love a tuberose fragrance, and I came here to see your thoughts on this. I'm going to be buying Fève soon, and am trying to figure out which 2 fragrances I should sample with the purchase.
When I bought my dior bag they sprayed "colle noire" all over the shopping bag and i fell in love with it omg it's amazing! never have I ever smelled a better floral perfume! literally translated it means black glue which kind of sounds sexy i dont know why, call me crazy haha but it's actually the name of a castle christian dior bought and it's inspired by the flowers he grew there sometimes i feel like it's haunting me i can smell it in my dreams i HAVE to buy it haha you're not a floral person but just test it the next time :)
Hello Dacob! Where did you purchase the 50ml, please? The USA website only lists the 4.25 oz and 8.5 oz sizes. Thanks! I have the huge Leather Oud and Mitzah, but would like to test Cuir Cannage and Feve Delicieuse!
H David. Its not a 50ml. Its a 15ml spray and they always require you to purchase a minimum of 4 (you get to pick which four). Its like the way HERMES sells their 15ml spray bittles of their excusive HERMESSENCE range. You can find them in Dior boutiques and authorized Dior privee perfume counters. The only problem is they do not always stock the entire range. They just stock a selection fo their best sellers... xoxo
As a very broad generalization, I think Dior used to do a very nice job at producing perfume, but lately has fallen a little flat. Don't mis-read that, CD has some stunners in their main and the Privee lines, but the whole house seems to be a half-step back for some reason--maybe it's just me. Perhaps another thing we can blame on IFRA? (Da BASTARDS!) Brilliant review, my dear! Also loving the Adidas jacket, though at first I was thinking "Hmmmm someone needs a back wax!"
Hahah! My muppet jacket needs a back wax! Yep, that it does ;) Yes, Dior is going very flat with its fragrances in my opinion and yes, I too blame a lot of what is going on on IFRA and what appears to be a lobby of connections between them and pharma industries patenting the synthetic versions of natural ingredients! No words really! Devastating! xoxo
Dear Dacob, this is just another amazing video! Before I discovered your channel, I always thought about a fragrances like just... common fragrances, just a things you use and then they're gone. And now, I know they're NOT just some fragrances. I started thinking about them like they're an inspiration, a time machines, and I realized the depth and soul of some of them thanks to YOU! I'm trying to be more creative and change my point of view... Thank you. :] PS: I wrote some lyrics to my /hopefuly ; future :'D/ songs... I'd really like to know your opinion. Would you like to read them? Could I send them to you? :] I know that sounds maybe weird, but I'd like to share it with you and learn some different point of view. :'D /I know, I'm repeating what I wrote already, sorry :'D /

Finally! I've been waiting for this review ❤️ I got a great deal on a 7,5ml sample of this perfume and I can't wait to try it.
Thank you :) I hope you enjoy it! xoxo
Ooh 😲, (I know nothing about parfums😳) Thanks for sharing Dacob 🤗

Thanks dear for the tip! I will try it out for sure! xoxo
Just bought this. On my skin, the dry down of this smells like Jo Malone Myrrh and Tonka less the spice, more on the vanilla sweetness.
Can someone name me a fragrance which resembles in the smell this fragrance?
Always love to hear how u describe the notes in perfume like it's an old past lover. ❤️👍🏻😘😘😘Sandy
Haha! Thank you Sandy dear :) xoxo

Thank you Dacob. I appreciate your knowledge. Cheers!
Thank you for the review. It sounds very enticing. Well worth trying.
Than you Daniel :) xoxo
What's your first language Dacob?
I love it ; its so femenin, elegant , being feminin in a silent way , the elegance for a woman who doesnot need the scream out she is here
I asked the Dior SA here in Hawaii and she said they only come in the big bottles... :(
Thats is strange.. So the boutique you went to does not order them maybe... xoxo
