Those black-but-should-be-white flaps on his head are called Wig Wags, the array immediately below them are his Sax Valves. I've been obsessed with Robby since I was a small child and the movie was released the year I was born. I'm 3d printing a full size 2100mm model of him. To my way of thinking there has never been a robot as cool or as fascinating as Robby but that's a personal preference of course.
Use cheap fiberoptics for the mouth and remake the eye brow flippers to clear white ,drill out the eyes run fiberoptics to them and use small coil cables that when it spins it will spin the radar rings on his eyes his eyes could flash ,you could 3d print a crankshaft in the head that would run the sax valves individually like in the movie, and 3d print the gyros to individually spin them.love to hear your feedback.
Sounds great! There was a lot more I would have liked to have done with him. Unfortunately, This was a very last minute Project and I might have to go it back And try some of your suggestions.

That would be cool. Actually, mostly Robby was made from common parts, which you could easily find, with exception to some of the tubing and typewriter parts.
There is 1 other prop that sold at auction for 5 million dollars The Maltese Falcon. And since it was much Cheaper to make than robbie ($200) its considered the most valuable prop due to the higher mark up even if it didnt sell for quite as much. Fun fact: my dad once got to hold one of the falcons. They only made 3- hes not sure which one it was. One was the Hero Prop, one was the scraped one, and one was the original Hero Prop that they had to replace because Boggart dropped it, denting it heavily as it was made of lead. From what I remember 1 of them is lost to time. Another fun fact: i have my own replica of said prop right next to my other replicas and real props
