  • Same engine the last cam that was left in it- cam motion #3 big cam- we decided to put a carb on it to see if there is a big change- still using the efi to drive the coils to keep the same timing curve as the efi set up.

      Carbs are great if you can tune them but they are not as consistent as EFI

      and he even says same timing curve as the injection hes leaving out about 60hp in his timing map. trying to fool people who dont know much into thinking the injection and carb produce the same round about power but nah

    The low end torque was a lot higher plus if that carb had annular boosters fuel consumption an torque would be a lot better if the intake was polished ( Chuck Gulage was a NASCAR Holley tuner lived in Clw Fla he had some very nice tricks for power and fuel economy 85 5.0 400 hp 25 mpg 735 cfm reverse idle circuit 4 point idle Circuit) takes more time to tune a carburetor but vapored fuel is more efficient to get to the power peak

    Would love to see the efi trickflow "Box R" intake on this same engine?

    Love having a new tech channel on here. Would you guys mind showing a bit more of the specs on the cams and motors in the future. Like which pistons your using and the cam. advertised/.050/ LS.IC? those are really interesting to some of us. Really enjoying the format.

      @coasthighperformance  5 років тому +1

      Hi Syz, we will be trying to show as much tech as possible on the dyno and some sop talk but we can't divulge full cam specs as that is what we get paid for. Pistons for the 408W are from Racetec pistons, done for us get get exactly 10.5:1 comp. Next dyno session will be GT40, vs ported GT40 vs Systemax on a 331SBF

    I know this is a Windsor post, but I had a 3-valve Mod motor question. Why can't you use the 3.625 pistons with the 3-valve heads? I'm looking into possibly putting on a Hellion kit for an '08 GT/CS, and I remembered your 5.1L strokers for 2 valves, so, I looked on your site, and the only thing for 3-valve cars is a 3.75 stroker kit or long block with the stock bore. Any particular reason for this? Thanks for helping us mod motor guys out.

    • @coasthighperformance
      @coasthighperformance  5 років тому +1

      You can only bore those blocks so much,, that's the issue.

    • @bryanhallman8183
      @bryanhallman8183 5 років тому +1

      @@coasthighperformance Hmmm.... that sucks. Would an .030 overbore be possible? Combined with your 3.75 crank and rods, that would make a full 302 cubic inches, if my math is right?

    I do like your videos and as you can see the Carburator makes better power than the Injection, now if you only had a really good carburetor, my guess is there is another 20 LB-Ft of TQ and 20 hp also.

    • @superkillr
      @superkillr 5 років тому

      Yeah on that day , in that room under THOSE conditions. You can take the EFI anywhere, anytime, any conditions and it will self tune and self adjust while you're still spinning your weather station and pulling fuel bowls because a cloud appeared.

      Bro efi is vastly superior to carb. These carb lovers are retarded

  • @crgintx
    @crgintx 5 років тому +2

    In other words, you don't know how to tune a carb'd engine No doubt that EFI works very well but it has its weaknesses as well. Number 1 being complexity, more can go wrong with when it fails. This is a toy motor not a daily driver. I'd like to see a comparison of EFi to carb on this same displacement engine with 9:1 compression and 220 degree camshaft, something you can run on 87 octane when towing something.

    • @coasthighperformance
      @coasthighperformance  5 років тому +3

      Before EFI, that’s all we ever tuned- carburetors. We love them just as much as EFI and mechanical injection. We would love to help you out with your comparison, give us a call when you are ready to get the ball rolling!

    need to add a minimum of 10 degrees more advance with that sweet ass carb on there you will pick up Lots of power you should be able to run atleast 34 degrees with the carb your prob around 26 injected Carb for the hp and torque win even with no timing

    • @loganpenland6568
      @loganpenland6568 5 років тому +2

      superkillr He is running less than 10:1 compression you could safely run 38 degrees without spark knocking. I build my own motors have ls swapped two BMWs with carbs bc i grew up building dirt track race cars where we Alwaz run 36 degrees in old school small blocks. you can pull my all aluminum 402 down to 26 degrees and it feels pitiful compared to 34 I have in it. I installed a stock 6.0 in my 85 Chevrolet truck carved but i only run 26 degree in it so I can pump junk 87 ethanol thru it. if you run a carb and 93 octane you can make lots more power with some timing build your own the tell me I don't know wtf I'm talking about.
