Just happened to think of this song after catching, on Facebook, an old class photo this last day or so of a younger sister, who had that forename, of a classmate of mine. It is a very good one from a group for which I have a deal of affection.
One of the best bands of the time. Jeanette is pure class. They never released a bad single and their 3 albums were all brilliant. So much energy, great to dance to. Still play their records and they sound as good today as they did when they came out.
This distinctive tune uses the accordion of Jack Emblow, long associated with BBC Radio 2 Sing Something Simple and a long way from the easy listening style he was known for in the last century Jack Emblow turned 90 of then the day I posted this comment CONGRATULATIONS!
Not only have i loved this song...But it has my name (spelt correctly!) Growing up i never found my name on a keyring etc.. So i was chuffed to bits when "The Beat" sang about "ME"! 👍😂💪
Me too, though I do actually have a 'Jeanette's address book'! In fact it's really not that difficult a name to spell, and I love that there is a great song featuring my name! ❤x
Everyone can spell it but a few can't...Obviously i found the few that couldn't! ...Janette/Jennette/Ginette..Even Janet! So as I've said was so pleased the song was "Jeanette"👍
@@jeanettebale9859 Agreed, which is why I said 'me too'. I've also had 'Genet', 'Jenet', 'Jannet', 'Ginet', etc. I've watched people insert rogue letters while I'm spelling it out! The problem seems to be Jeanette-ic! LOL! So, yes, well done the Beat for spelling our name the way we spell it - & for a great song. Happy New Year, namesakes everywhere - & everyone else. xx
Ahhh, another hidden Ska classic everybody doesn't know about. This song is great. Lyrics, guitar, brass , drums, vocals and tempo are truly incredible.

bloody hell, I forget about this song, now I am dacing at the youthclub aged 15 in the summer again.
Love this song. The album bombed, but mine was worn out.
Special Beat Service.
a beautiful song about Jeanette Krankie. About time too.
Why have i never heard this song before?
Awesome, 2020 and i get to hear a new beat song.
Awesome
I love this song so much. Absolutely bostin.

I know all about it, my mom bought the album back then and this was my favorite song!!!!
And the virtuoso accordion of Jack Emblow 90 today!
Should've been a top ten
Quality.
It's such a shame there singles of 1982 never got on Top of The Pops...always think The Specials splitting a year before was a factor ?
Unreal
Cool.
I really like this. What album is this extended version on? I have the "Special Beat Service" cd that only has the shorter version of Jeanette.
12 inch cool
All set luncheonette
Kitchenette to let
I bet I get hamburgerette again
We met in a launderette and kissed beneath the air jet
No sweat no threat
Another one in the back of the net
When I met Jeanette
Substitute Ronette
She said, will you remember
I said, I could never forget her
Au naturalette
Her moms a millionette
So we shared one last cigarette and swapped false addresses
Jeanette
Jeanette
Dangerous
She’s like damp dynamite
Oh boy, enjoy, have a nice night
Won’t you promise to write me whenever you can
Make sure that you earn me if you’re coming to Birmingham
I get Jeanette
Substitute Ronette
She said, will you remember
I said, I could never forget her
Jeanette
No, no, no I’ll never forget you
Touching your skin has proved one thing
That loves still exciting
We’re getting there
We’re nearly there
Just one final fling
Pushing into a new love steady deep and strong
Steady on
You know we shouldn’t talk like this
I met Jeanette
Substitute Ronette
She said, will you remember
Said, I could never forget you
Au naturalette
Her moms a millionette
So we shared one last cigarette and swapped false addresses
Jeanette
No, no, no I’ll never forget you
Jeanette
No, no, no I’ll never forget you
Shared one last cigarette and swapped false addresses
Jeanette
No, no, no I’ll never forget you
Jeanette
No, no, no I’ll never forget you
Jeanette
No, no, no I’ll never forget you
Shared one last cigarette and swapped false addresses
Bostin.
