That finale has to be the most hands-down depressing-ass finale I have ever watched. Why couldn't we have a bit of happiness? Why did Dean have to die? Why couldn't we see Cas in the kitchen baking cookies for Sam's little boy as Dean comes in, winks at him & steal a cookie? Sam holding up the little boy (who would NOT be named Dean) & smiling widely at him. Meanwhile, Eileen comes in while holding up a positive pregnancy test. Another Winchester on the way.....I will imagine this scene repeatedly in my mind to numb the pain.

@@chircuaurelia4346 well yeah, I understand they wanted a quick "ha ha, die already, geez" for a character that has been going through literal hell for 15 years but they basically destroyed the character growth and ignored 15 seasons and the fact that Dean had already stopped seeing himself as a killing machine and that he had more value, he was free for the first time... only to be killed like nothing ever happened between 1x01 and 15x20 I'm sorry, I'm still mad

I believe that Sam's off-screen wife was intended to be Eileen (or maybe that's just me hoping) and her actress just couldn't make it to film. However, it would NOT be hard to photoshop her into some wedding pictures to put on the mantle. Or show Sam trying to teach his son how to sign. Or literally ANYTHING in addition to that over the shoulder glance to a blurred out woman. Thank you for coming to my TEDTalk.
Honestly they could’ve just said her name earlier in the episode and that’d make it plausible. I really don’t understand what their thought process was lol
Or show her walking in and out of the living room while Sam and the son are doing homework. And show them signing to her or something while her back was to the camera.
What pisses me off most about the finale is that they did EVERYBODY dirty. Sam started out in season one wanting an apple pie life while Dean was a hunter. He always was a hunter, he was convinced that he would always be a hunter. That was what he thought of as his job, his destiny, his life. Deans whole life has been filled with hunting and violence over violence while all he really wanted to do was have a normal life. If you look at season one and two, Dean is the one constantly trying to get Sam and their dad to reason with each other. He basically always looked up to them in a way, because while Dean mirrors Mary, the hunter who just wants a normal life, Sam mirrors John. Where Dean is fire, Sam is ice. In the later seasons Sam started to get treated like an idiot who was overly clumsy and got knocked out every two episodes for comedy. Dean started to get across as this overly manly man when in reality this guy just wants peace. Thats all he ever wanted. He just wanted Sam and John to be peaceful the entire time, which didnt work because Sam and John are too alike. After Dean died in season three, Sam didn't settle down and get a girlfriend. No, he kept hunting, he started to train for killing Lilith with Ruby. Dean always gets labeled as 'daddys little soldier' because he saw his dad and Sam as the bigger people while he was just the peacekeeper. He always put Sam before him, he sacrificed himself for him. From season 1-5, both Sam and Dean had complete character arcs. They were complex and stunning and wonderful. And now, after fifteen freaking years of fighting that he didnt even want, Dean didn't even get the chance to try and do what he always wanted to do. He didn't get a chance at a normal life, at nurturing and growing and loving, no, he died exactly like he always believed he deserved to, in a quick violent act that didnt even affect Sam, who lived an apple pie life with blurryface wife and a son, which makes no sense for his leading character at all. My boys deserved better. I could've SWORN we were promised peace when we were done, but clearly we're not done yet.
It ended as it should have IMO. The brothers together in heaven after spending years struggling against the world and beyond. Demons and angels and God himself. . They found peace after suffering. How would You have ended it?
@@jaylenbrownfan2112 i don't really know what i would've done, but i know that I would have tried my best not to have the Destiel shit censored. ik america and stupid companies but like, the ship has been going on for a decade. come on. and dean and sam's stuff was just so dissatisfying. dean died from glorified nail. sam was like "ah, okay" threw all the dumb shit of "yeah doing everything I can for my brother" out the series' finale window and just let him kick it. which i don't mind, it was just the execution of it. they could've done better and they should have for a show that's been on for a decade and a half. i don't mind them both in heaven, that part is fine. but they skipped over s o m u c h . which is what irritates the fuck out of me. but i mean, cant fix it I suppose. ending a show in a satisfying way is super difficult, ex: game of thrones. i feel like they should have elongated the last two episodes or whatever to give us something that is good, instead of haphazardly shoving stuff in a box with "ending" plastered on it and shipping it even though it obviously isn't what the customers' wanted.
@@cameron-cr8lo Well said. I enjoyed the ending to the second to last episode. When they shows images of Sam and Dean at different points in the show. That could have been the ending. No need to kill Dean. Maybe the fans would have been a bit happier. At least they didn't end up listening to Journey and the episode cuts to black to end things.
It was a masterpiece! In the way that it was the exact opposite of what would actually have made sense and would be fulfilling. it's like a negative of the finale we deserved in every way possible and that in itself is truly astounding!
Honestly the end is just so weird and out of character that so far I’ve been having an okay time considering it non canon. I’m rewatching the show and it’s been really fun!
I understand completely. It's so bizarre and undermines the characters' growth and leaves me with a bad taste. It's like they took away my comfort show
yea like a lot of other people said, just try to decide that this ending isn’t canon, and then rewatch the show up to 15x18 or 15x19 (or whatever episode you feel gives the best ending) and then decide that episode is the finale.
@@veradoll22 exactly One episode, Dean: I’m sick of hunting! Gets a whole episode pep talk. Next episode, Dean back to hunting again. This finale shows the problem of the show in general. No character development just some occasional pep talk episodes that will then get forgotten in the next episode
I've come to the executive decision that the show ended with 15x19. There was no 15x20. They gave us an ambiguous ending to do with how we see fit. Enjoy!
Wow this finale sucked! I'm so sad because of all the wasted potential 😭 Btw, I saw a theory that this ending was the ending of the Sam and Dean from another Earth, and that the Sam and Dean from our Earth are with Eileen, Cas and Jack ❤ So I'm adopting this as canon bye
If you like the finale that’s great! This is just me making jokes about something that didn’t sit right with me. But me not liking something you love is NOT and excuse to throw personal attacks at me or my work. Don’t be that guy. Memes are for laughs, so if you can’t laugh about it please just move on. Before you comment, please self-reflect 💙
You're right, people should be able to state whether or not they liked the finale without being attacked for it. Personally I hate that Dean was killed, but because of it we got that beautiful emotional scene. However they could just as easily let him live and had some kind of scene like that anyway.
From his groveling position, Chuck peeked cautiously upwards to make sure the coast was clear. Then he stood up slowly, dusting himself off with a smug grin. "I can't believe they bought that!" Chuck had fooled them all. He was still in control, & was about to unleash his best & most malicious twist yet.. x.x
It’s been nearly 2 weeks and I still haven’t recovered from Sam’s party city wig. Please, TELL ME WHO looked at Jared and said, “yes, perfect.” BECAUSE I WANNA KNOW.
they could have made a scene with Dean’s funeral... with all of their friends Garth, Jody and other hunters to pay respect to the BEST hunter ever and tell storys about all of the times he save the world. But no... it was just sam and the dog
they cant really do that because covid. they would have to ask all the actors to come and shoot for like a couple days but they have to go through 2 weeks of quarantine first. they kind of rushed the episode because of covid but at the same time they didn't want to wait to long
@@AlexanderK1224 yeah, except J2 have said that that part of the script remained unchanged. The only place they were going to have additional people brought in was at The Roadhouse in Heaven, NOT at Dean's funeral.
I don't even go here and this is the funniest thing I've ever seen, I am DYING (ha) at Dean and Sam having a whole ass conversation while Dean's impaled by the rusty nail :'D
I'm nixed on this finale, though a while back, Ackles stated that if down the line SPN ever reboots, he would be down to reprising, or at least, maybe the finale might've had an open ending so if they would, create a continuing story of an alt contunity where the brothers live on, or something for the afterlife, but doesn't get crazy like in seasons past.

I legit couldn't tell if the title was sarcasm but decided hey I'll give it a chance and I have never been happier. The finale was such a massive disappointment and so radically out of character! I spent more than half the episode staring in disbelief and wanting to punch a wall, what the crap CW?!?!?!?! Just WHAT???????
ffehjflskdjf the fast forwarding thru the death scene oml can we talk about how the average response time for an ambulance is 8 minutes and that speech was .... about 8 minutes ???
It all depends on where you are, tbh. A friend of my family had an accident with an excavator. Both his legs were crushed, and it took a half hour for the ambulance to get there, and another 45 minutes to get him to a hospital. The barn is out in a deserted, creepy area, probably very rural, so I'd say 8 minutes would have to involve a teleporter.
@@MulberrySeason It's taken me over a week to get to the point where I can watch clips of it. He's always been my favorite character. (And I'm pretty sure he was sick of being resurrected too. I mean, he's lost so many good friends at this point. Sam's close to the only one he has left.) Also glad that someone else is acknowledging that it's a piece of rebar. Y'know, the stuff they use to *re-enforce concrete*. But it wasn't just being stabbed-- I do research on stuff like that for writing purposes and acting purposes (No google, I'm not murdering people)-- It's the inch diameter, the angle, and the force. And importantly, where it entered. He's pretty centered on that beam for the entire last speech. So are hooks on beams, so they're most useful, and can support more weight. Personal theory: It went through his spine, up through his diaphragm, and the point was resting just below his heart. No blood in his mouth-- probably didn't puncture a lung-- or he wasn't able to expel the blood. He wasn't using his legs /at all/ in that last part of the fight-- just flailing at the vamp-- even though normally fight or flight would override pain in order to get at least one more blow in. He kept touching the xiphoid process-- you know the piece of bone/cartilage that gets broken sometimes during CPR-- like there's something pressing on it. Said something about it 'ripping him apart'-- yeah, fragile body tissue vs. steel rebar + body weight not being supported by legs-- he was bleeding, and it was pressing closer and closer to his heart in those 8 minutes. He's strong, so yeah, he used those last 8 minutes to talk (Losing Cas /did/ affect him-- he knew that he had to tell Sam these things, Give him something to help him move on.) The first aid for a wound like this includes keeping the object unmoved inside the person until they get to the hospital. Sam would have had to cut down the support to the beam without jostling it too much-- but he also would've had to hide the bodies of the vamps. And if by some miracle, he succeeded in all of that, and Dean /didn't/ die anyway,.. they would have had to retrofit the bunker with ramps, because Dean wouldn't be walking anywhere. Ever. No miracles, no healers (The only non-fake that they ever found was Emanuel/Castiel, and Sister Jo, who is in the wind and probably wouldn't anyway.) I wouldn't see him taking any of that well. He died an ordinary Hunter's death, not the one that Chuck had in mind. It's also been floated around that this was not taking place /right/ after the last episode. The routine that they had going on is one that you develop over months and years. The liquor bottles are gone, only beer in Dean's room. Job application. The weapon collection is no longer above his bed, just those guns on the wall. I think they lightened up on the makeup for this episode, because they look a bit more worn than usual-- older. (And as you get older, you start losing some of your strength, flexibility, and reflexes. Yes, you can hone them, but do you seriously see Dean doing any of that on his own?) Yes, I'm sad to see Dean go, to see the show go, but the last scene highlighted how much they've changed. They're able to let go of each other when it's time, even without the promise of seeing one another on the other side. Anyway. I'm going to probably go back to watching happyish vids, writing/reading fanfic for a while, because I'm still not quite over it yet. :)
@@MulberrySeason Dean's always been a teeny bit suicidal. Losses like his would drive most people into depression to begin with. (And for a Hunter, he might be considered edging into 'old' territory.) He gets reckless, and has actually said he was tired of living before, so yeah. He was ready. I would have enjoyed seeing him be rewarded with a good life in the end, but my tendency towards happy endings can't dictate someone else's story. (And rusty nail. Have you seen the picture of Jensen with the rebar hook? That thing is massive.) My friend is doing well. Multiple surgeries, months in the hospital-- where even his wife wasn't allowed to visit due to Covid. Aside from the monumental hospital bill that insurance is fighting him on, he's making a good recovery. He's also one of the kindest people that I know, helps people anonymously, ect. And people have been donating to a gofundme page for him to cover most of the bill. Pretty sure I wouldn't have handled it well at all.
@@MulberrySeason He is, and I'm glad he is as well. Yeah, I know there were some things that were loose ends, and yeah, there were things that could've been done better in the episode, but honestly, I was okay with it. @@MulberrySeason Yeah Dean was always going to die, they set it up from season 8 that he was not going to survive the end of the season. It definitely seemed that they were trying to mirror Sam's season 2 death and also have him die on his feet - which I get it, but I feel like if they wanted to go that way then why not have Dean get stabbed protecting Sam? He dies as he lives, ya know?

That finale has to be the most hands-down depressing-ass finale I have ever watched. Why couldn't we have a bit of happiness? Why did Dean have to die? Why couldn't we see Cas in the kitchen baking cookies for Sam's little boy as Dean comes in, winks at him & steal a cookie? Sam holding up the little boy (who would NOT be named Dean) & smiling widely at him. Meanwhile, Eileen comes in while holding up a positive pregnancy test. Another Winchester on the way.....I will imagine this scene repeatedly in my mind to numb the pain.

@@chircuaurelia4346 well yeah, I understand they wanted a quick "ha ha, die already, geez" for a character that has been going through literal hell for 15 years but they basically destroyed the character growth and ignored 15 seasons and the fact that Dean had already stopped seeing himself as a killing machine and that he had more value, he was free for the first time... only to be killed like nothing ever happened between 1x01 and 15x20

That last part pisses me off because Sam definitely could've gotten that ambulance with how much Dean was talking.
Like, he could have called the heading thing on his *CELL PHONE* right there, Dean could have said his speech, and then they filled have shown up and at least freaking *tried.*
Tbh, when he said that he will call an ambulance I was just thinking in the corpses and the blood everywhere

So true 😂
1:15 I can actually hear Misha screaming KGKA
They chose violence
What a perfect way to say this.
actors are good as always but the show seems to underdeliver 'cause of their great performances.
and i'm just salty cause what was this finale.
It ended as it should have IMO. The brothers together in heaven after spending years struggling against the world and beyond. Demons and angels and God himself. . They found peace after suffering. How would You have ended it?

and dean and sam's stuff was just so dissatisfying. dean died from glorified nail. sam was like "ah, okay" threw all the dumb shit of "yeah doing everything I can for my brother" out the series' finale window and just let him kick it. which i don't mind, it was just the execution of it. they could've done better and they should have for a show that's been on for a decade and a half.
i don't mind them both in heaven, that part is fine. but they skipped over s o m u c h . which is what irritates the fuck out of me.
but i mean, cant fix it I suppose. ending a show in a satisfying way is super difficult, ex: game of thrones. i feel like they should have elongated the last two episodes or whatever to give us something that is good, instead of haphazardly shoving stuff in a box with "ending" plastered on it and shipping it even though it obviously isn't what the customers' wanted.

You're right, people should be able to state whether or not they liked the finale without being attacked for it. they cant really do that because covid. they would have to ask all the actors to come and shoot for like a couple days but they have to go through 2 weeks of quarantine first. they kind of rushed the episode because of covid but at the same time they didn't want to wait to long

I'm nixed on this finale, though a while back, Ackles stated that if down the line SPN ever reboots, he would be down to reprising, or at least, maybe the finale might've had an open ending so if they would, create a continuing story of an alt contunity where the brothers live on, or something for the afterlife, but doesn't get crazy like in seasons past.

can we talk about how the average response time for an ambulance is 8 minutes and that speech was .... about 8 minutes ???
Sam's close to the only one he has left.)
Also glad that someone else is acknowledging that it's a piece of rebar.
He's strong, so yeah, he used those last 8 minutes to talk (Losing Cas /did/ affect him-- he knew that he had to tell Sam these things, Give him something to help him move on.)
The first aid for a wound like this includes keeping the object unmoved inside the person until they get to the hospital.
Yes, you can hone them, but do you seriously see Dean doing any of that on his own?)
Yes, I'm sad to see Dean go, to see the show go, but the last scene highlighted how much they've changed.
That thing is massive.)
My friend is doing well.
Cried like a baby through it, and for the next week and a half, but it wasn't my least favorite episode.
