I'd say glacio is better for byte farming since it has good resources and gives good bytes and doesn't try kill you every 2 seconds
I went to glacio to do byte farm and installed the system there but it didn't work, bytes don't come no matter how long I wait, I wonder if it is fixed?

You know, I've taken a break from Astroneer for about a year. This idea will make me go back to it to try it out.
Edit: I started the game to play with this passive byte income idea. The last save file was from April 2021.

Does it matter where you set them up? I am reading that sample respawn times are directly? correlated with the amount of bytes they provide. I.e. a 50 byte sample on Sylva takes 15 minutes to respawn a 300 byte Glacio cave sample takes 90 minutes. If that's true, any setup on a 3 sample spot will yield the same amount of 'bpm' on any planet/layer. Thoughts?

That's in creative mode, but you can't really type in what you are looking for, it just means that all items are there
I installed some of these contraptions inside a cave in Glacio, and they don't seem to be working while I'm on Sylva. The ones I installed on Sylva are working OK.
In theory they work even when you are on a different planet, but some pants may need more time to grow ( maybe)
How long does take the plant's grow bsck because every time i try to put the thing near it doesn't grow back

I have the issue that the farms stop producing bytes when i´m not near the construction. Do I have to do any settings?
Additionally, over time some of my roses just dissappeared
The roses disappear when the seed gets out of the auto arms area, because the seed will eventually despawn. You may consider raising the walls or add auto arms. With regard to the contraption stop working when you're not around, that's weird .. is it on PC or console?

I've watched the construction some time and the seed just despawned in front of me. I had 3 roses in the hole, which was by the way deep enough, and after the activation only 2 grew, 2 seeds dropped.
@@Joshua-xv1ec you may consider having two proximity repeaters to extend the range.
But if they fall out, maybe you just need to make thicker walls and more of a slope maybe

If you go to Novus to get fractal roses and build the farm next to it so it harvests and plants them, then you'll have a much better infinite byte farm.

There is also a really easy to make farm that cna also make Infinite bytes and i name it the gas farm just place a machine that collects gas then and put it in repeat get the mechanic arm (or however its named) and put a reaserch chamber next to it so it puts the gas in the research chamber

Hey Kuya game?, for some reason, (one) of 5he recent updates removed the auto arm’s ability to remove items from the infinite byte farm (the complicated version). It has now permanently screwed up my farm I just set up, could you help?

Wow I remember playing astroneer before 1.0 and getting bytes was a pain. Even the auto farms involved needing power and a much more complex setup. Thanks for the easy and simple tutorial!

I've been doing this method for a while. I have around 20, and it makes more than enough bytes for a playthrough. One thing I did however was placing beacons relatively near each one (but not within any proximity repeaters' range) in case of possible lag and therefore necessity to remove them. I've learned since that it causes no substantial lag at all but it's always good to be prepared.

put them on some of the byte plants deep below on atrox caves, i think those are the best byte plants
Don’t they all generate the same about of bytes per minute because the bigger byte samples take a proportional time to respawn? I.e. a 50 byte sample takes 15 minutes, a 300 byte sample takes 90 minutes? Both are ~3.3/bpm by my calculation. Only thing that matters is finding a spot with three samples, doesn’t matter how many bytes it has. Right?

A solid technique for early game, but i like to use research chambers for my fruit-byte auto farm, gives significantly more per fruit, but this is a good starting point from which to set up such a contratption.

wish i saw this earlier because i painfully had to place at least 15 power extenders just to power a byte farm with 1 automated arm or something and a research chamber (sorry if I didn't say the correct names I can't really remember them) btw this will become very useful for me in later game
before the proximity repeater and other sensors was avaiable i made a crazy "research facility" with automatic arm that move rock samples to different reseach chambers xD i still have in my save

There is one problem with the more complex farm that I didn't see a fix on in the latest patch notes. The auto arm does no longer pick up the item from the research chamber. If they have fixed it that's good but building it now is a gamble.

I have a question. For example, those samples that look like flat head screws usually give me 160 to 150 Bytes if I investigate them individually in the research chamber. Couldn't I make an automated farm to collect those samples and automatically take them to the multiple research platforms? Of course I understand that the way you have taught in this video is the easiest and I really want to put it to the test since being an amateur Astroneer player there are many things in the game that are beyond my understanding.

But I’ve been doing to get insane amount of bites is every time I find a tree with a little flower on it. I take the seeds out of it, and I would plant it next to my base and every time I harvest it again and get two seeds I’ll take one of the seeds research it, and then take the other seat and put it in the ground. Eventually, I had a bunch of trees and I had a lot of Bites
I ended up making one with an extra large platform, an atmospheric condenser, and 3 research chambers later in the game which worked quite well

You can get a ton of bytes in mid-game relatively quickly by going to Glacio with a bunch of ammonium, packagers, and a QT-RTG. Go around the planet's surface and open up EXO research aid units and you'll find research items worth 8k bytes in each one. The first time I did that I probably got about 8-12 of those and ended up with almost enough bytes to research everything. A hoverboard really helps with all that because you can just grab your shuttle with all the storage and items you'll need and carry it with you.

The "Best" source of bytes per minute... NanoCarbon Alloy. 1000 bytes each in 2.5 minutes for 400 bpm.
If you stop the research chamber just before it finishes, you can take the NanoCarbon out, put it into a resource canister, which will reset it back to a "New" NanoCarbon, which can then be researched again... infinitely.
With a little automation you can set it up so that all you have to do is take the NanoCarbon out of the research chamber, into a canister then activate a button repeater. The chamber will automatically stop in time.
This easily works with 3 chambers on a Huge platform C. Yielding 1200 bpm, or ~2900 bytes every time you feed it (every 2.5 minutes, or when you walk past it in your base).
I could imagine a person could easily handle 10 banks of 3 chambers at a time, yielding 12,000 bpm or 29,000 bytes each time you feed it.
You can do the same with Astronium for 500 bytes each 2.5 minutes... half of the above numbers, but you are less angry with yourself when you forget to clear the chambers before clicking the button.
Note: Be careful feeding more than 1 research chamber from a canister! If you do not stop the chamber before the research completes, the chambers have a chance to bug out saying they are trying to destroy researched sample... but don't. First time this happened, I had to shred the research chambers. no way to fix them. Second time it happened, I think I was able to suck up part of the sample being destroyed by setting the canister to suck mode. Unfortunately, this then bugged the canister, leaving it with part of a NanoCarbon in it. When I replaced the contents of the canister with something else, I now have 1/10 of a NanoCarbon alloy floating in my base where the canister was. You can feed a single research chamber from a canister no problem. But if there are multiple chambers being fed from 1 canister (any resource, first was astronium, second was NanoCarbon), you MUST stop them before they complete. Test your automated timing well before running it for real the first time, and whatever you do, just shred whatever gets bugged.
