We interrupt your regularly scheduled rotation of The Super Mario Bros. Super Show!, Totally Spies!, Johnny Test, and Grojband to bring you my first ever DVD Overview video of a theatrical movie from Disney! Read below to find out why I'm doing this ahead of when I was originally planning to.
Today is the 21st birthday of my amazing romantic partner Sam (pronouns: they/him), which is also the first of their birthdays that I get to celebrate, having just gotten together with them last month. In honor of this joyous occasion, I’m showcasing the original DVD release of Sam’s all-time favorite Disney movie, The Emperor’s New Groove!
On the date listed above, the movie all about Kuzco was released on both VHS and DVD, with the latter format’s copies of the film coming in two flavors - a single-disc standard edition, and “The Ultimate Groove”, a pricey 2-disc Collector’s Edition set bundling that same standard DVD (just now sporting a different label) with an exclusive Bonus Features disc. Later on October 18, 2005, the standard DVD was reissued on its own with updated Sneak Peeks and a couple of new special features as “The New Groove Edition”, which sadly caused the 2-disc set to go out-of-print. It’s not too hard to find for a good price used on Amazon, though.
I own The Ultimate Groove Edition, but we’ll just be taking a look at Disc 1 of that set as if it’s the 1-disc standard release of the film (it IS the exact same disc, after all), since my PC simply refused to load Disc 2, and I currently find a way to resolve the issue while also allowing myself to get the video out on time for Sam’s birthday. Sigh. Oh well, maybe Disc 2 can be covered on its own when Sam turns 22.
Sammy, if you’re watching the video and reading this description, I just want to say “Thank you” for being such a positive influence on my life. You help me stay in check whenever one of my hairbrained antics causes trouble for others. In others, you’re the Malina to my Kuzco. As the movie featured on the DVD showcased in this video would say, “HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY, FROM ALL OF US TO YOU! WE WISH IT WAS OUR BIRTHDAY, SO WE COULD PARTY, TOO! HEY!”

This is actually a different disc than the standalone 2001 disc, which added 3 featurettes, a deleted scene, and another music video (all of which are on Disc 2 of the 2-disc edition)
The standalone version was released in 2005
@@itsjayden8002 This walkthrough is for disc 1 of the 2-disc edition; the thumbnail uses the cover of the 2001 standalone edition, which is a different disc from the other editions.

The 2-Disc Collectors Edition
and the
2005 Single Disc Edition
