As a devotee of God, we should remain equipoised in joy and sorrow, as well as pleasure and pain. Every circumstance has been placed by God to elevate our soul. Finally, we should remain free from unfavorable associations. We should always be in an environment that will take our mind to God.
Don't cripple yourself in complaining God for what you are not given. Align your desires with the desire of God. Don't listen to everyone. Try to put in your best efforts by using your intellect and leave the rest in the hands of God.
