«Киев» - тяжёлый авианесущий крейсер (ТАКР) Северного флота Военно-Морского Флота СССР (ВМФ СССР; г. Североморск). Головной корабль проекта 1143.
В июле-августе 1976 г. ТАКР Киев с пятью боевыми Як-З6М и одним учебным Як-З6МУ совершил переход к месту своего базирования на Северном флоте. В Средиземном море состоялись первые за пределами СССР полеты Як-З6М. На Севере в августе-декабре 1976 г. были проведены госиспытания второго этапа - ударного ракетного комплекса «Базальт», комплексные испытания радиоэлектронного вооружения в составе корабельной группы, групповые полеты ЛАк, а также мореходные испытания корабля. Постановлением Правительства в феврале 1977 г. ТАКР «Киев» приняли на вооружение ВМФ.
The Kiev-class aircraft carriers (also known as Project 1143 or as the Krechyet (Gyrfalcon) class) were the first class of fixed-wing aircraft carriers built in the Soviet Union.Unlike American or British carriers, the Kiev class is a combination of a cruiser and a carrier. In the Soviet Navy this class of ships was specifically designated as a heavy aviation cruiser rather than just an aircraft carrier. Although the ships were designed with an island superstructure to starboard, with a 2/3 length angled flight deck, the foredeck was taken up with the heavy missile armament. The intended mission of the Kiev class was support for strategic missile submarines, other surface ships and naval aviation; it was capable of engaging in anti-aircraft, anti-submarine and surface warfare.A total of four Kiev class carriers were built and commissioned, serving in the Soviet and then Russian Navy. The first three were decommissioned, of which, one was scrapped and two were sold as recreational pieces to China. The fourth ship, Admiral Gorshkov, was sold to the Indian Navy in 2004, and after years of extensive modifications and refurbishment, is currently in active service.

Эти съёмки корабля были в 1984 году после выхода с Черноморского судостроительного завода, это был средний ремонт. На борту заводской номер - 121, голос командира - Ясницкого Геннадия Павловича, царство ему небесное. Стрельба из РБУ- 6000, кнопку «залп» нажимает командир БЧ - 3 Москалёв Сан Саныч. Отличные годы службы!
Да, очень жаль Геннадия Павловича, кэп был прекрасный, экипаж очень уважал его.

В те 70-е годы какие были красавцы корабли. В основном строилось в Украине городе Николаев. Как сейчас помню когда " КИЕВ " прибыл в базу город Севастополь. Тот кто служил на этот красавце в/часть 30920. Лично я на нём не служил, но имел косвенно отношение .
В 70-е годы не было никакой уркаины. Память отшибло или деменция настигла? 🤣🤣🤣
Служил на"КИЕВЕ"с 91по93, хочется вновь посмотреть на свой корабль.
Там же, но в 1989 - начале 1990. Потом - Такр Тбилиси

Like a 'Kara' class cruiser with a flight deck. Looked impressive, the little Yak-38s looked good too, but not sure how effective they were.
The Yak-38 wasn't designed with fighting other fighters in mind... it was just meant to give the fleet some means of concealing itself from marauding reconnaissance aircraft. Vs. a P-3 or Nimrod? The Yak was likely effective enough. Vs. an F-14? Not so much. The Sea Harrier was developed with the same idea in mind except that it then-proved successful beyond expectations versus the higher performance land-based aircraft of Argentina.

My six-year-old son loved the video and stayed in front of the screen for at least 20 minutes.

Anyone know what those rods are for on the side of the ship? I see them on alot of soviet ships, sometimes they are straight out the side and other times they are retracted up. I have no idea what they are for
If you're talking about what I think you are, those are rows of self-inflating, canister-stored life rafts (as opposed to old fashioned life boats).

@CAG Hotshot POS Su-33 otherwise known as the most capable fleet defense fighter in service with any navy today. Sorry to burst your bubble with a dose of inconvenient reality but the F/A-18E is primarily a bomb truck ... the retired F/A-18C had superior air combat maneuvering capability.
A warship of limited value, with crappy planes. Only the missiles and the ASW-helos were of any value, but those could have been fitted on several smaller vessels for a far cheaper price and lower cost of maintenance. Perhaps would the Yak-141 have made a difference or a rebuild of the ship as was done to the now Indian ship.
I think your missing the point of this ship. It’s meant to be an aviation capable cruiser, that’s what the Soviets themselves called it. It carried planes merely for reconnaissance purposes

Ivan don't take this the wrong way, but this ship is a floating shit wagon, the sailor's who sailed with that ship should thank God every single day before they fall off to sleep. Thank him every single day that this antiquated rust bucket never went amino-amino against a US carrier task force, because it it had, they would be sharing a final resting place with the aircraft carriers and men of the WWII Japanese Imperial Navy.
This ship could easily destroy entire us carrying buckets force. Kiev balltecruiser carried first supersonic anti-ship missiles in the in the world and US navy didn't have anything that could protect against Kiev's missiles attack. In the same time Kiev had multi-level anti-aircraft protection and could easily neutralize any danger from the air. Usually , when Kiev was sailing in the oceans, American Navy ships tried to keep distance around 500 miles from her. American carries would have follow example of Japanese carriers, because they ignored new era of missiles and satellites. USA still does not have any supersonic anti ship missiles while Russian Navy already arms its ships by hypersonic missiles.
