This is the best mix ever. I buy it by the 20lb bag every time I go to Texas. I've been using it for 20 yrs and my tortillas come out the same every time.
Sir, first off, THANK YOUUUUUUUU FOR having a video that makes it from tortilla mix! And.................using the kitchenaid! Dude, my momma' use to make homemade tortillas from scratch. I never got to learn her recipe. But I *did* watch her make them a lot when growing up as well as 8 months before she passed away. I am forever grateful that I got to visit her prior to her passing. I live in TX, had to go see her. I felt my calling to go see her and I'm so glad I did. While I was there, she made homemade green chili with stew meat (WISH I HAD HER RECIPE!!!!! And I'm still trying to find a homemade red chili recipe using stew meat as well...) but she made me 2 dozen to bring back home to TX. When I got onto the bus to come back home, the driver asked if he could have some. I had to kindly decline and say no because it might've been the very last time I ever got to eat my momma's homemade tortillas. Unfortunately, I was correct. I've been trying to find a good recipe with JUST the tortilla mix like what you're using and good gravy, THANK YOU for having your video! It'll be my first time I'm making them (Once I find my dough hook again) and I can not wait! THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU! And I LOVE HEB!!
No problem. I hate traveling and going to mexican restaurants and they have packaged tortillas. This is my way of sharing the better tortillas anywhere.
Go boy! Make them torts!!! My mom can make any masa taste good but she PREFERS this brand which I love! Thanks for this video sir! So glad I clicked your video! 🤟🏼 San Antonio tx/ somerset tx checking in!
It’s 6:33am and I’m watching this video in my kitchen with Paloma right in front me because I’m 4hrs south of San Antonio literally by the border and I must be the only Mexican who can’t make tortillas. But I’m about to try! I’ll let you know how they come out. 🤣
💕 Thank you. I kind of needed to see how they cooked, honestly. I made some from scratch that called for oil, baking powder, salt & water (and flour of course) & they came out soft and yummy. I also made some from a recipe on UA-cam with butter and the same other ingredients as the first one I did. They came out harder & very bland. (I thought the butter would make them heavenly !) I only used a tiny bit of flour to roll them in both recipes. Although a lot of the 'cooks' I saw say not to use oil, I found it makes the best flour tortillas. That's the recipe I'll be using from now on ! 😊👋🏼
You're welcome. I enjoy making them but I enjoy eating them more. Haha. Nothing better than freshly made torts... and butter dripping down your arm as you eat them. As far as the oil additive, I believe my "abuelita" used to use vegetable shortening instead of oil. Maybe try that next time. Good luck
@@texmexgod4002 haha I know ! I'm starting to wonder now if I really needed that perfect tortilla recipe ! I find I'm munching 3 or 4 a day ! (The first time I made the yummy recipe I swear I must've eaten at least 6 throughout the day ! They kept calling to me !! 😂) Thanks again ! 👍🏼👋🏼
honestly... i have made them from scratch... remembering me as a kid watching my grandma.... she did not use oil.. she used Mrs Tuckers vegetable shortening. I do like making them that way, but on a weekend for breakfast, the above video comes close enough for me and saves me lots of time.
Once you knead the dough(use warm water). Let it rest for about 15min. Then make the little balls and let them rest covered about another 10-15 or so before you roll them out. I get perfect tortillas every time.
Girl, after mixing ingediants mine did not want to be sticky looking 😫 i dont know what i did. It kept falling apart as i tried to make it have texture. My grandma is ashamed of me lol
@@tamtam8499 sorry for the late reply but all i can say is when mine are made, they come out good. also, you can add a tablespoon of vegetable shortening for it to come out softer, dont add too much.. just a little will go a long way.
@@texmexgod4002 thank you! I was craving these and you had the same bag I was using so I clicked on your video. I will use more water next time. They looked good but tasted like flour lol
My tortillas do not come out as good as before. I called them and I was told they removed something from the mix.....just awful the flour had a yellow look to it and the flour is not as fine as before they just SCREWED it up....
Walmart sells great value tortilla mix, I suggest the flour/dough not to be sticky when mixed. Form then to balls and cover and let it sit 15/20 mins. Throw oil drops of oil wherever you flatten out tortilla

You can tell he’s from San Anto cause he’s real short with it and to the point lol

Wow thanks for sharing Will try them now 👍🏼
I bought this by accident. Thought it was regular flour. I will give it a try.
Yeah that’s All purpose flour.
You GO boy!
Very helpful
You must have clean hands! To mix dough. or all the axle grease with come off into the flour
just adds more flavor. lol
@@texmexgod4002 Not those flavors 🤪🤪
No matter what I do my tortillas come out hard. What could I be doing wrong ?
just add a bit more hot water
“Go by feel” means, listen to your ancestors 😆
Muy bonitas
Okay what am I doing wrong if my tortillas are coming out hard? after sitting for a couple minutes

Use hot water when combining. Let the dough rest...
After cooking place in a air tight Tupperware/Rubbermade container and a kitchen towel

How hot does the water have to be? Mine temped at 140 and it came out out all crumbly?
Add more water
Add water until its almost sticky... it will be stretchy.

Bro they still good lol mines vome out fluffy every time
@@ayyye9459 mine too... but the stickier they are... the better they roll out, just dust the outside of them and the counter and the roller...
Here a man who don't like his hands in the dough he heee What he don't realize is? When it comes togather its easy to get off your hands
Stop using the white wings flour because they change the texture and ingredients of the flour than it was in the 80s.
What are you using now?
Y como las mejoras, tiempo perdido dedícate a otra cosa.
Que ridiculo para q son las manos 😂
So this video is usless
maybe i should remake the video with the full recipe from scratch. would be titled "Just like Grandma Made, just takes me longer!!"
