      I do the same thing this dude does. And I know how tiring it is to clean a sofa. Especially if the cushions come off. It’s so much easier if the sofa doesn’t come apart at all. But at the same times it’s satisfying to see it get clean

      That's probably because most people dont live eat shit and breathe on their sofas. That would be the main reason they dont know how hard it is to clean one. Or the people that do usually dont care about cleaning their sofa.

      You can buy a home shampooer to clean fabric upholstery, and a bar of Dove soap or saddle soap (used to clean leather shoes) works great for leather upholstery. Cars or in the home. It's easier if you don't let it get this dirty before cleaning it.

    You should save your backs by placing the sofa on a raised base. Just my opinion but I've cleaned many a sofa in my day and may back paid a price. Even just putting a 5 inch riser on each leg helps a lot!

      Cleaning upholstery and stairs are the most physically demanding aspect of the job. One of the first things a new trainee learns is to put the furniture ( in this case a sofa ) in a position that minimizes the effort to clean it and maximizes ergonomics and comfort of the cleaner. Once inspected and tested, place the sofa on a tarp. To clean the sofa back, place the sofa on it's front surface. To clean the front, place the sofa on it's back. Obviously, this is not a recommended technique for cleaning sleeper-sofas ( charge more $ for those ). This makes cleaning each of these two surfaces much easier , faster, and effective. Especially if the sofa has a flounce ( skirt ). The sofa body's side have to be done with the sofa resting on it's feet. The same for the top and inside arms. Inside back can be done while the sofa is resting on it's back or on it's feet. The platform can be cleaned with the sofa on it's feet. Using these techniques helps to prevent injury and fatigue. Using "risers" makes little sense in comparison. It just adds clutter to the van and increases the likelihood of losing equipment. KISS. More stuff just complicates the process, wastes time, and ads no value to the process.

      jehovazwetness ~ I never saw her reply until just now. The owners didn’t want to add to the landfill? What lame reasoning is that? It would be thrown into a pile of burnable items. Years ago I was working with a group of children and they were outside. It was hot so I bought a five gallon water jug, filled it with ice and water and went into the building to find cups. I found styrofoam cups and wrote names on them. One of the other adults questioned me on why I was using styrofoam cups, they’re bad for the environment, I should throw them away and get plastic...yes they are, however, I didn’t run out and buy them, they were already there. I tried to explain to her that if I had bought them or not, they still exist and sitting in a shelf or not, they will eventually end up in the trash. I finally had to just walk away.

    • @angelforanimals7809
      @angelforanimals7809 4 роки тому +1

      Pamela Ippel ~ Wow! You learned that much about me from ONE comment? Blessed Easter, Jesus! Here’s one example of how materialistic I am NOT. My husband decided to buy me a new car in 2014. He knew I wanted a Ford Escape. I check the website of our local Ford Dealer. They had many to choose from. I also saw a cute little four door mid sized car, the right color me.
      We went to the lot on the weekend. We found the dealer we have always bought cars from. He showed us the Escapes, I drove the escape that I REALLLLLLY wanted, 2014, 100 something miles on it. It had all the bells and whistles, even one of those screens that shows you what’s behind you when you back up...perfect for me since I hate backing up. It was a great car, did I mention I REALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLY wanted it? Then I saw the mid sized car, I asked to drive it. 2013, 18 miles on it. Not many bells or whistles, but cute. I talked to my husband for a bit. It’s just the two of us at home, he has a bigger car for traveling, or when we used to. We occasionally have two or three great nieces and nephews to haul around. I only needed my car for getting around town, work, the store...nothing major.
      I left the lot in the car...because I am the exact OPPOSITE of materialistic. Sadly, I had the car less than a year before chronic illness made me home bound. It’s got less than 20,000 miles on it and when I became home bound, it had less than 1,800. My husband, nephews and brothers put the rest of the miles on it. One more example...when we went to pick out our wedding rings, he kept heading for all the big diamonds. I’m nit a fan of diamonds to begin with. I looked for smaller stuff. Our rings cost less than $600.00 for all three. People say you’re supposed to spend several months salary on just the engagement ring...who made up THAT stupid rule? Any way...have a blessed Easter, Pamela!! God bless you!!

    From what I understand, microfiber couches were meant to be easy to clean. This was apparently a dog bed so it was pretty funky. Most spots can be cleaned off of them with glass cleaner and a damp rag to keep them spotless. However, it’s completely apparent that this particular sofa definitely needed your version of deep cleaning. Fantastic! I know it has to smell better.
