It takes a lot of work and patience to train a police horse, and to actually find/breed them. Not every single horse is suited for such hard work, because it's not just physical training, it's also convincing a very strong animal to trust their riders and go through situations which usually sends them running.
this is how all police officers riding horses should be trained. like I see so many police officers abusing horses because they don't know better. they should be trained as normal equestrians.

The amount of trust that horse has to have. Jumping through paper, through fire, jumping over those jumps with another horse right behind them? I can’t imagine. These riders are incredibly brave. They deserve the olympics for the way they treat their horses, and the absolute skill. It must have taken all of their lives to get where they are. If you have animal planet there is a show dedicated to showing what these people do. This is great demonstration but compared to what they really do... They had a bit of everything, thoroughbreds, drafts, warmbloods, and so on, so I'm not sure what breeds they used here. The show is called the "Mounted Branch," if you want to look it up. PS. What they said down below, mostly Irish drafts or irish draft mixes. The standard they look for, 16.2-17.2 hands, draft type (mostly because of the strong legs which they emphasized a lot), with a good personality that has had a variety of "types" of riders.
