Morley Dr and Beechboro Rd intersection will need an upgrade due to all the extra vehicles that cannot access Tonkin Highway from Benera Rd anymore. The same might apply for Morley Dr and Crimea Street intersection.
No they don’t need to because that intersection was never that busy anyway. It was busy though because it is a black spot program so crashes would happen over there regularly
I drove up and down on my truck on tonkin highway for over ten years and I hated it. If I could I'd drive on the Roe high just to dodge less more lights. When they upgraded from the Roe highway onto Tonkin up to Collier Road It was like you come from the Flintstone era to bang smack into the Jetsons future highway. Our base was Coles on Horrie Miller Drive. Right snack in the heart the Perths industrial nightmare
Has the road been built with the future installation of a rail line in the middle (similar to Kwinana or Mitchell) as one of the design considerations ?
I see that there is going to be a pretty good Cycle Way put in place. But where does it connect to the cycle network. It does not show where it connects to Redcliffe bridge cycleway at the south end or where it connects to the cycleway at the corner of Reid Hwy and Camboon Road in the north. Or is this going to be one of those cycleways where it starts from nowhere and ends in nowhere so it will hardly get used, meaning a waste of money. For this to be successful it must connect to these two points as well as the cycleway that runs along the rail line.
well looks like I wont be using the Benara road Bridge at all - no way of getting on and off there so have to travel all around the world to get around the area pitty as it would be a great location but someone has forgotten the little people in the area its a bad plan leaving it with no on and off ramps (there is plenty of room to make them)
I want to know this too, the build up at those lights is going to be huge. All the flyovers and underpasses won't be useful if you're gonna sit at those lights for 10 minutes.
Yes Kamal, this will be a full systems interchange with free flow movements in all directions. www.mainroads.wa.gov.au/Documents/Northlink%20WA%20-%20April%202015%20Newsletter%20-%20Amended%20October%202015.RCN-D15%5E23673217.PDF
going by the answer you were given it sounds like a no. by looking at the animation it looks like there has to be a set of lights. it would be nice to have a straight answer yes or no.
Yes there will one set of traffic lights - this is called a single point diamond interchange (similar to what we have at Leach - Abernethy). en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Single-point_urban_interchange
As james said there will be a SPUI (traffic lights) on collier road, but rest assured these intersections flow fairly well. I have used the SPUI at abernethy and leach for the past year and it works very well, going to work i use the left turn merge and going home i get the green arrow 50% of the time so 75% of the time i never have to stop :)
Hi Abbas. NorthLink WA is being built in three stages. Please refer to our Central Section video for information on Tonkin Highway and Reid Highway ua-cam.com/video/0ra_qZtaxyo/v-deo.html
You have replied to the question about the Tonkin/ Reid Intersection with a link that states this is the most dangerous corner in WA. So wouldn't you think you put this as priority over the other intersections, that have been completed and this one has not even been started yet.
I also want to know WHY your not addressing the BENARA Road issue - there is plenty of room to make on and off ramps on BOTH Sides --- so WHY IS THIS NOT HAPPENING
Dj Dennis if benara road had ramps, they would be too close to the Reid/Tonkin interchange. More info here: en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grade_separation#Weaving

Great development which will cut times for all intersections and making Tonkin a freeway will be great too

Nice job! How do you created the threes models? Are they randomly placed?
so there is no upgrade for tonkin and reid highway intersection?? there will be still traffic lights??

Does this mean there will still be traffic lights for traffic to get from Collier Rd to Tonkin Hway?
+Bev Johnson Collier Road will be realigned and raised to go over Tonkin Highway, with on and off ramps connecting the two roads

this is missing the railway line
the Ellenbrook line wasn't even proposed when this proposal came out
Mine glad I don't live on Morley drive and Crimea street all the extra traffic from stopping people turning left or right on benara road
very sad...
this is another poor planning for Perth and Main Roads, no interchange for Tonkin/Reid Highways. whats going wrong here?
