What makes this soundtrack even more impressive is the fact it is using the Sega Genesis GEMS Sound driver. The GEMS sound driver was known not to have very good instrument synths. The music used for this though takes full advantage of the GEMS Sound driver and shows what it is really capable of.
Sounds heavily inspired by Pink Floyd's "On the Run." Whether or not it was, this is one of the best tracks ever done on Genesis hardware. Sam Powell used it to its full extent in this EXTREMELY diverse and extremely long track.
The mixes in the prototype versions of this have The T-rex and Raptor Roars in them instead of the explosions. They also use the main menu music at the start. I've been meaning to upload them for some time but keep forgetting to do it. Oh and you are welcome.
the old jp games were great , somone needs to make a new one lol. or a game that at least takes the ideas and atmosphere and puts them into a platformer a bit more polished and rich , you would have a sick game lol
I've never heard the quality of sound of this soundtrack except on a box TV from the 90's. I'm listening with Dre beats and it's something else entirely.
thank you so much...nothing like dropping into the interior at 2 mins in, some of the sickest video game music ever. Love the synth bass with the low pass filter that just blooms with its cut off freq..2:54 is so excellent as well. Whole thing is genius really. The title music and a couple other tracks were really sick like this. If you've got more gems from this game, post please!
I love how a lot of the percussion and beats in this song is just using the gunshot and explosion noises from the game. Fuck, this song is awesome. Thanks for uploading!
The Roms were released as part of the hidden-palace(dot) org February 23rd, 2008 release. Over 1000 Sega Genesis/Mega Drive game beta roms were leaked onto the internet. The 0630 beta is the oldest build that works. However, there are two older builds dated, 0620 and 0622. The numbers are the dates the builds were compiled.
My God, I was just thinking of this. Amazing, how these things stick with you.. This was my favorite game when I was young, even though I really enjoyed the first genesis JP game, this was so much better. Thank you so very much for posting this. I will look into your other videos as well.
Indeed I do. I aquired a few Jurassic Park Rampage Edition beta builds. There are a few tracks that are different. The game has an ending theme rather than just a repeat of the title theme. It sounds entirely different and unique. The ending images are also unique. Depending upon the age of the beta build you are playing, there are two beta mixes of the main theme that follow the same idea but have a beginning that starts off by playing the main menu music. They also have raptor and t-rex roars.
Been +20 years since I played this game, but oddly I always think of the first part of this OST every time I'm either working or driving outside in the rain.
Sorry for like.... two years of not replying but I just now saw this comment. You're not missing much. The ending is about the same as Grant's except no speed boat riding off into the sunset. Instead, you just get a stationary cargo ship on the same screen. Not really any animation at all except for the Pteranodon flying iirc. (actually, I'm not even sure that's on the raptor's win screen.) I did a playthrough of the whole game ages ago. The Red Raptor's easy to beat. You just flip jump back and forth over the box in the middle of the room. For a Raptor, the Red Raptor's AI isn't very smart.
I last owned this game in '96 and lost it during a move. Didn't play it again until I discovered emulators in 2003. I went all those years hearing this "song" in my head and it drove me crazy that I couldn't listen to it 😅
How did they get that stereo/mono thing going on? It's very interesting, especially for such a dated piece. I didn't know you could do that with old consoles. Thought it was all mono. Whoever composed this was really on it!
NES and master system are mono. Amiga has this thing where two channels are fixed left and two are fixed right. This (Megadrive/Genesis) has every channel (both FM, PSG and PCM) in mono itself as with most things can be played either centre, hard left, or hard right. Lots of Mega drive games use stereo a lot but of course there are also quite a few that neglect it. However a lot of people would only experience the machines in mono. Model 1 Mega Drives have only mono out through both video ports (S video and the other one used for the RF cable) but have stereo out through the 3.5 mm headphone jack on the front of the machine which is what I love to use with headphones and occasional with external loudspeakers. Model 2s do not have headphone jacks but this time they have stereo out with the video ports, though of course anyone playing with RF as was the standard connection method provided for at least here in Europe, would still be stuck with mono unless they got a separately sold better cable (and in some cases a new TV).
Err...O_O ....... Sega was Stereo sound to begin with! But you had to use not the mono channel from the back jack, but connect the 3.5 mm stereo aux plug into FRONT headphones jack, where it output high quality stereo sound! Back in 90's in Russia I had Sega Megadrive model 1, and a beefy Sony Technics sound rig that had AUX 3.5 mm input. It gave a chance to enjoy the true power of sound quality and especially the powerful bass Sega had.
I think one of my other videos might have the updated link for it. check. I actually completely rerecorded the whole thing for better quality. (along with the soundtrack for the first game) if you can't find it on any of my other JPRE soundtrack videos, let me know.
glitchhunter09 Me again. Just checked the other JPRE videos and couldn't find a working link. And it only took me 3 months! Would you re-upload the whole OST now?: )
listen to this ost when its going to rain at night
It’s 2022 and whenever there is a thunderstorm rolling through, this track comes to mind. Suddenly, I’m a badass

no music on the genesis was as impressive
Contra Hard Corps had amazing composition @@davechen9792

Technically it's actually two tracks. I just put them in one video because they're both for the same level.
í honestly don't hear any influence from "on the run"... totally different in pretty much every way
Grant is a bad ass
Loved this level, and the music is awesome. Been playing this game since I was 4
+Jordin Orr You look a lot like somebody I know whose last name is also Orr. I can't help but wonder if you're related.
Who might that be?
Jordin Orr Her name's Maggie
drums sounds like the shotgun in game
They probably are
they both are based on what is called a "White Noise Generator" in sound synthesis
Other percussion in the song sounds like the machinegun
love this OST. the composer really did an amazing job
1:23 - 1:30 THOSE 64TH NOTES.
Those are 16th notes
First two results for, "Jurassic Park Rampage Edition Music," were both the Cargo Ship. UA-cam knows what the score is...

Best map
Best theme
Best game
🥴🥴
Good memories. We played this non-stop for the whole summer. This soundtrack reminds of X-men for Genesis.
This was the best fucking level in the game. Kicking down doors to shoot raptors in the face with a shotgun.
Boat/Ship Themed sound are always my fav and this one really get into it.Love thoses notes and atmosphere.

JWE was just kinda a remake of JPOG (which was good) that sadly was worse than it in ways. We need a new game of this atmosphere.
Lol the original game is quite enjoyable but is the definition of unpolished.
20+ years glued to the Damn screen. the left n right audio fade dope af. Around 2:00 it's start getting real, that ship start to sink
CLASSIC MUSIC for a CLASSIC LEVEL!!
I've never heard the quality of sound of this soundtrack except on a box TV from the 90's. I'm listening with Dre beats and it's something else entirely.
very cool composition for a genesis game. techno ambient

1:23 to 1:37 and 3:17 BADASS!
At 1:23 that's most definitely a guitar.
long live this game, brings back so many great memories, a great feeling comes back:)
Same, this is one of my favorite games of all time.

It was amazing back than and its still amazing today.

It's actually nice to see you uploading a OST form a video game. The JP:RE sound track is Cool. Nice :).
Killing dinos and getting funky at the same time.
I used to love this game When i was a Kid :,D
Been +20 years since I played this game, but oddly I always think of the first part of this OST every time I'm either working or driving outside in the rain.
Main menu music haunts me to this day
The best song of the game
00:41 onward awoken something primal in me that has laid dormant for many, many years. Goddamn this is so good.
Finally! Both parts of the music in one nice package. Thanks!
Very good!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks!!
i never did beat the final red raptor in this (playing as raptor). dang...im probably missing out on some sweet end game thanks-for-playing text

😊😊😊😊😊
This song is so tits lol I used to press up and down on the controller as a kid and make the raptor/grant headbang
Good times.
Dude, just listen to those synths! They're fuckin' awesome, i love this! :D
Anyone else still randomly hear thunderclaps in their mind while listening to this music?
You forgot the cargo ship sinking music when playing as Dr. Grant.
That's mostly because it's just a beeping sound with a droning one note beat. I don't really consider it a true music track.
@TwinsanityUniverse It's actually from 1994, still though, this is probably my favorite track in the game.
If you put the playback speed at 0.75x the song sounds like a Jurassic sneaking mission
Or a pitch shifted version of the PAL version though still a bit slower.
I last owned this game in '96 and lost it during a move. Didn't play it again until I discovered emulators in 2003. I went all those years hearing this "song" in my head and it drove me crazy that I couldn't listen to it 😅
Wow this is fucking brilliant!!!

And how about uploading raw VGM's ? Thanks!
Can someone upload an extended version of this without the ship interior part?
Can you post an extended version of the first part minus the ship interior music?

PAL 50hz . Set playback speed to 85%
84% ideally but I can only have 75% here on the UA-cam android app. UA-cam tries to pitch shift to keep original pitches, doesn't it?
Could you re-up the OST? The file is no longer available on mediafire. :(
