I'm back here after 8 months, and my stand still doesn't change. Jimin uses too much falsetto (I'm worried about his vocal capacity because falsetto strains too much). SM artists such as Chen and Baekhyun were given the opportunity to know how to use their voice effectively, giving them the ability to sustain powerful chest voice, supported voice and falsettos. They know how to control their voices, but they need to lessen the chest/throat voice use because it really strains. They use their head voice very well though, which helps in vocal control. Similar to Jimin's style, Taeil also uses falsetto which strains a lot (but I have to see more of Block B's performances before I judge). Of course, Eunkwang knows his thing, but he should know his limits. Whenever he sings Tears, he strains his vocals too much which may not help in the long run. They just need to know their limits. However, without being biased, I would say that SM artists are very well-versed in terms of vocal technique and control since they are taught well as a requirement. So I vote for SM artists with the exception of INFINITE, BTOB and VIXX because those groups sound the best live, and you'll notice how they use vocal techniques well. I'm just a choir member and band vocalist btw. No one special. ☺

I’m not trying to argue with your opinion but yes I do agree that sometimes they need to tell Jimin to stop straining his voice but his falsetto also works very well. I am a choir soprano singer myself so I know. This utterly my option and I am not biased.

A Soprano 1 to be exact~ Our mentor does not recommend us to use falsetto in the higher range (From the 5th octave and so forth) because it would cause our throat to feel a "scratch" and go either sharp or flat after doing a high key, deeming it risky. Head voice is recommended along with lifting the soft palette for a more supported and resonant sound. Anyways, I got your point, but Jimin has keep the use of falsetto on reaching notes out of his comfort zone in a minimum. ☺
You gotta check out WINNER's vocals, esp. *Seungyoon* ,the maknae-leader who became the main vocalist after Nam Taehyun left. They are especially best live performers too

I've read lots of discussions about Jimin here so let me tell you something: In science, the human vocal range consists of different forms, based on the method you're using; these forms are whistle, falsetto, normal and some kind of growling. For singers, only falsetto and normal singing are considered a part of their vocal range. Vocal range is "the notes that can be reached and are still usefull for singing". Normal singing goes from low notes to high notes, falsetto goes from middle notes to extremely high notes, based on the talent/skill of the person. If a singer can't reach a high note with his/her normal voice he/she can use falsetto to reach that desired note. Falsetto is thus considered as a part of their vocal range. So people, stop going around saying Jimin's high notes aren't "real" or they "aren't even considered as high notes" cause that's bullshit. The definition of "high note" has nothing to do with how the note was produced, it's basically saying that the sound was high. If someone sings a high note with their normal voice and someone else sings the exact same note in falsetto it's still the same *high* *note*. There is no such thing as a "real high note". please use logic people. It's either a high note or a low note or something in the middle range. It's true that most of the other singers in this video are more skilled than jimin, but that doesn't change the fact that Jimin is indeed singing high notes, falsetto or not.

I'm back here after 8 months, and my stand still doesn't change. Jimin uses too much falsetto (I'm worried about his vocal capacity because falsetto strains too much). SM artists such as Chen and Baekhyun were given the opportunity to know how to use their voice effectively, giving them the ability to sustain powerful chest voice, supported voice and falsettos. They know how to control their voices, but they need to lessen the chest/throat voice use because it really strains. They use their head voice very well though, which helps in vocal control. Similar to Jimin's style, Taeil also uses falsetto which strains a lot (but I have to see more of Block B's performances before I judge). Of course, Eunkwang knows his thing, but he should know his limits. Whenever he sings Tears, he strains his vocals too much which may not help in the long run.
They just need to know their limits. However, without being biased, I would say that SM artists are very well-versed in terms of vocal technique and control since they are taught well as a requirement. So I vote for SM artists with the exception of INFINITE, BTOB and VIXX because those groups sound the best live, and you'll notice how they use vocal techniques well.

I’m not trying to argue with your opinion but yes I do agree that sometimes they need to tell Jimin to stop straining his voice but his falsetto also works very well. I am a choir soprano singer myself so I know. This utterly my option and I am not biased.

A Soprano 1 to be exact~ Our mentor does not recommend us to use falsetto in the higher range (From the 5th octave and so forth) because it would cause our throat to feel a "scratch" and go either sharp or flat after doing a high key, deeming it risky. Head voice is recommended along with lifting the soft palette for a more supported and resonant sound. Anyways, I got your point, but Jimin has keep the use of falsetto on reaching notes out of his comfort zone in a minimum. ☺

Chen's high note is more stable than Jimin. Moreover, Jimin uses a lot of his falsetto voice. Singing those notes resulted him to strain his voice on that part and actually be breathy. On Chen's side, he can actually sing those notes and be well supported, which is a good thing. Chen's high notes are going loud opposite to what is happening to Jimin. I still love them both, Jimin and Jin is my bias in BTS and Chen is not my bias, but PCY... so love to multifandom people here!

I've read lots of discussions about Jimin here so let me tell you something:
In science, the human vocal range consists of different forms, based on the method you're using; these forms are whistle, falsetto, normal and some kind of growling.
For singers, only falsetto and normal singing are considered a part of their vocal range. Vocal range is "the notes that can be reached and are still usefull for singing". Normal singing goes from low notes to high notes, falsetto goes from middle notes to extremely high notes, based on the talent/skill of the person.
If a singer can't reach a high note with his/her normal voice he/she can use falsetto to reach that desired note. Falsetto is thus considered as a part of their vocal range.
So people, stop going around saying Jimin's high notes aren't "real" or they "aren't even considered as high notes" cause that's bullshit. The definition of "high note" has nothing to do with how the note was produced, it's basically saying that the sound was high.
If someone sings a high note with their normal voice and someone else sings the exact same note in falsetto it's still the same *high* *note*. There is no such thing as a "real high note". please use logic people. It's either a high note or a low note or something in the middle range.
It's true that most of the other singers in this video are more skilled than jimin, but that doesn't change the fact that Jimin is indeed singing high notes, falsetto or not.

But arent we hit the high notes easier with falsetto rather than the normal voice? I can hit some of Ailee songs with falsetto but cant with normal voice. But if song like Taeyeon which some of her songs a lil' but lower than Ailee, i can hit with my normal voice. And you said "what's the point when you can reach the normal vocal high notes with falsetto" well it's equal "i can reach Ailee's normal high note with falsetto" that doesnt mean my and Ailee's vocal range is the same. Falsetto is an alternative to hit high notes.
Well for Jimin's case of course it's not a fake high notes. But i think you are wrong to put "falsetto's high notes=normal voice high notes". It's very wrong.
Just Because you totally missed my point. Yes, it's easier to hit a specific note with falsetto rather than normal voice. But there are notes that are so high, you can't reach them with a normal voice, you just have to use falsetto. Jimin's high falsetto notes, for example the one in Let Me Know, are extreeemely high, even for a falsetto! Most people can't reach that high, no matter how they produce that sound. Falsetto IS part of the vocal range. Period.
I'm not saying that falsetto high notes equal normal high notes in terms of difficulty. I'm just saying that, scientifically, the tone is exactly the same! If Ailee sings a C in her normal voice,and I sing a C in falsetto, it's the same damn note!
