the fade on the snare on trackcomp it's more pronounced than the others however that's something that can be bad on a full track as it takes more space than the others comps.. but in some case it can help fill the spaces if the tracks has few elements. i personally love LBUS as is one of the most authentic and usable in a real world nebula compressor
DMG TRACKCOMP 2 is honestly one of the most authentic sound of analog emulation. I've got a tons of hardwares in my studios, AB them, hoping to have a plugin that can replace all of them, there're so very god****am expensive & i'am so tired of bulky hardware , the maintenance... but Now atlast... God has send me an answer... Nothing can replace the hardware???? maybe not 100% now.... but hey... it is already started... your grandson's grandson's generation might not be able to see analog hardware comp in the future.... he he he
In order of quality: 1. L-Bus (Smooth dimension, with pillowy punch - expensive sounding) 2. Acustica Sand 3 (Very close to L-Bus in depth/quality) 3. TrackComp sounded the worst (only by comparison to the above two) -Trackcomp is very flat, hard sounding and 2 dimensional, just like *most* algorithm-based compressors. It takes a trained ear to hear why one sounds "better" than another - most will just choose the one that sounds the loudest!
Agreed, amazing that so many people are saying the TrackComp sounds best, to me it had a much more harsher snare sound whereas the L-Bus and Sand had a much more smoother analog sound. L-Bus beat the Sand purely in the way it retains the kick better
Listen to the initial attack of the kick, this is where nebula compressors fail. Nebula is great for everything else. 1176 are famed for the bite of it's transients and how it adds impact to material that goes through it. That's why recording studio's use them on drum buses and also a combination of an La2a to level and 1176 for in your face vocals.
I gotta admit I was completely tricked by this but the 3rd one is louder on my headphones. From the first part the characteristics I heard in Trackcomp translated in what I then heard in Sand, less squash and smaller kick, that’s strange...
Trackcomp sounds the best , It behaves like a hardware 1176 on a drum bus. Trackcomp v2 is a weapon, the most underrated collection of emulated hardware comps on the market and that's because of the basic gui. The usual u-tube reviewers have bypassed this gem, shame on them.
I disagree. Trackcomp completely kills the low end of the kick. Listen to the others in comparison, Sand and L-Bus retain the low end just like hardware. And the attack you like sounds very "plasticky" to me in comparison to actual hardware, and plasticky in comparison to Sand and L-Bus too. That said, L-Bus and Sand are not perfect. They don't sound *exactly* like hardware either, the attack sounds a little bit like someone manually "turns up" the volume each time, a general tendency with Nebula. But that has the unintended advantage that it actually makes it sound much more lively and organic within a mix, instead of that thinner, much more plasticky squash that algo plugins do for SOME reason.
L-Bus to me. Sand has no dimension and Trackcomp is harsh and pointy (like a transient shaper was added after the compression). Without L-Bus I would go for Trackcomp nonetheless. Missing The Glue on the shootout.
Why are those highs being attenuated on the Sand comp. Is it the flavour of the emulated hardware or code? Maybe I would like that effect on a bright source but for the most part, a compressor by virtue of function brings up low level detail, particularly a VCA.
I got the Blind test right easily. Sand is very bland, barely colours the sound compared to the original. L-Bus in this example is completely destroying the transients, the snare sounds a mess. TrackComp is keeping the drum sounds intact, keeping transients strong, and keeping the sounds levelled like hardware does, none of that fluctuation like software. As far as that hardware trait, DMG TrackComp is the only software compressor i know of that achieves that. I think this test was done with DMG TrackComp version 1 ? Version 2 has alot of improvement. What we need to hear is TrackComp 2 vs the hardware equivalent so we can hear if TrackComp gets the colour and envelope of the hardware.
Wound up loving TrackComp

L Bus and Trackcomp. I like both.
L bus sounds exciting, dynamic. Pumpy? Maybe but in a pleasing way. Trackcomp sounds in your face, more levelled. Both I enjoyed a lot

sand is the winner for me, more clean. L-bus a bit pump to my ear. Sounds like the attack and release time are different
L bus sounds more , punchy / more bassy and more ... expensive , luxury , hardware like
Ha ha))) nice joke

@@TheManick Same. Plugins cannot get rid of their genetically transmitted harshness.
AA has very bad saturation!! This not hardware! This expensive crap!

This is nothing to do with the 1176.. it's an SSL gbus comp

L-bus !!!
liked L-Bus, in a blind test guessed it

To me Sand was the best 🤷🏾♂️
Track comp sounds better than the other
It's louder.

It depends on the pre selected. They each have a different curve, some roll off the high end others don't.
It's between TrackComp and Sand3. I can't decide

L Bus blew them away
L Bus
AA Lime2 Comp...best SSL comps
What model did you use on TrackComp tho it has like 11 different compressors
i would assume the ssl
I chose 1. Sand, 2. trackcomp 3.L-bus
release different
Вот вы говорите, что ТрекКомп хуже всех, однако на шитконтроле в виде телефона он звучит лучше остальных. Л-Бас - хуже всех
я прослушал на телефоне - l bus вне конкуренции.
