There's an incredible amount of fidelity in their expressions. You can see every little twitch and flutter when they talk and emote, it's honestly better than a lot of theatrical feature animation!
A certain character's ugly crying in the rain is a perfect example of what you mean, imo. It just tugs at the heart strings so well by showing the various emotions flowing through them. This is the type of thing you get when a company keeps control of their IP and truly wants to do it justice. Add a story that will always be relevant compared to trying to make it relevant for today and there is a reason for all the hype this show gets.
I hadn't thought about it before, but Jayce's attempt to end himself and Vi's turning herself in are mirrors of each other, and the scenes played back-to-back. Jayce left a written farewell and something important from his childhood, while Vi gave Powder a farewell speech and something important from her childhood, and by placing the scenes together we see Jayce very obviously signaling that he means to end himself, which helps clue the audience in to Vi's more subtle signals. As a bonus, both Jayce and Vi in this episode have a father figure who doesn't want them to pursue the path they are on because the father figure has seen where it goes and fears it. The mirroring is probably intentional since the show likes to play with the duality of the rich/privileged Piltover and the poor/crime-ridden undercity.
Every character is so fascinating and well-written in this series. While the story may revolve around the sisters, almost all these others we meet have their own arcs too and they way it all weaves together is masterful.
I came in knowing nothing about League. The gorgeous animation drew me in (no pun intended), but was really surprised at how much I enjoyed the characters & story. One of my favorite surprise shows last year.
Glad you guys are enjoying this ... the world building is over .. and i am here for it !!!!!!!!! lets go !! Also glad you guys enjoy the "show dont tell" element of the show .. its full of little details and foreshadowing.
Mia Sinclair Jenness(Powder/Young Jinx)mainly did school plays and Disney Junior shows prior to this show. In fact, the most emotional thing she did before this was a school play of "Matilda".
This a show that must be binged in my opinion. This is just an amazing series. I didn’t even know what LoL was/is (I’m old). Knew nothing of the characters or lore. Simply stated, some of the best writing animated or not. Enjoy. Ep 3 will hook you, ep 7 and 9 are jaw dropping.
I think it works equally well if you binge it because you remember details. Or if you watch it weekly so the emotions can seep in. Or if you watch it daily. Or if you watch it how it was intended - as 3 x 3-episode acts. or if you rewatch it, it still works just as well as the first time.
That animation is great I need to check this show out, my sons watch alot of anime I’ll as them about it, the only anime I ever watched was Speed Racer in the 60s as a kid , really loved that show, thanks again!
It's a fairly adult show with production values beyond most anime. Highly recommend if you're a fan of fantastic storytelling in general. It is so passionately and intelligently made.
You dont need to know a single thing about League of Legends to enjoy this show either. The art, direction, story, characters, voice acting, it's great, the production values are absolutely top notch. I dont know how anyone could dislike this show, it's fantastic so much so that it actually digs itself a bit of a hole because I dont know how you follow up this incredible first season. Season two has a hell of an act to follow.
The stone on Jayce's wristband? Pretty sure it's the same one as the depleted power stone the magician dropped into his hand after teleporting him and his mother out of the snow.
yes. Or with Breaking Bad, or with Mr. Robot. Or with first seasons of GoT. It has only 1 season, but i would actually rank it even higher than all of these. (just a little bit) Let's hope it stays consistent during later seasons and other LoL series.
It’s currently my favorite show. I could argue there are dramaticaly “better” shows out there, like Band of Brothers, Oz, Sopranos, but this one is special to me.
How to build a strong female character…. This is how it’s done. Show her struggles and obstacles. The mentorship she receives and her own frailties and fortitude. Chefs kiss.
Yep given the current state of film / tv a side-shaved female protagonist should be the last series I want to see. This is a perfect example of don't judge a book by its cover though.
@Rigrmortis exactly. Nothing was shoved down the throats of the audience. It was played out in a believable and logical way. Seeing her practicing her fighting skills. Take a punch and knowing her background makes it feasible and believable. It shouldn’t be that hard to do, but somehow it seems to be. However, this broke the mold. Kinda what Star Wars (with Rae) wishes it could’ve been. There’s a political intrigue plot-line. A love interest plot-line etc. but it’s BELIEVABLE.
@@danjohnson2986 Those I agree were all very good. Even better though, in my opinion, there is a great father - daughter story, made even better by being an adoptive father, that could have very easily been perverted into something it's not. I really enjoyed Violet's and Vander's relationship through the series.
Magic at this point of the Arcane series are forbidden. Demacia the City of Garen and Lux are full of magic slayers. that is cuz long time ago a magic war between wizards almost destroy everything in runaterra. i hope in Season 2 they show us Demacia and Noxus.
reminder: doesn't make you basic if this is your favorite animated thing of all time.. join us, you'll be converted sooner than later.. sooner being episode 3 specifically.. TEAM VI!
I don't think yyou need to know anything about the game to enjoy the series. Only a small handful of characters from the series are champions in the game. That's the only similarity
I had heard the name League of Legends and vaguely knew it was a game but knew nothing other than that. So I would say you are correct because I enjoyed the hell out of this series.
@@rigrmortis3393 There are over 100 champions you can choose from to play as in the online game. 5 players against 5 opposing team players and the goal is to destroy the opposing teams Nexus base. Only a few of those champions from the game are characters in the show, examples are Vi, Caitlin, Jayce, and Viktor
@@zipzeolocke2 Yeah I looked into it a little and realized it was a MOBA similar to some my nephew played after watching the series. Thanks for the info though.
This IS a great show - even from a non-players point of view, but I'm surprised you guys have never mentioned any of the cinematics this show, & game are connected to - the art style ALONE would impress you, I know it. The ones to checkout that are abstractly connected to this show are named; "Get Jinxed", & "Warriors", just to name 2 - there are soo many You & your wife Samantha could enjoy - Riot games have broadened their horizons of entertainment beyond just video games - music, cinematics & now this epic show; Arcane. Check it out sometime.
Because the animation is so great in this show, the facial expressions of the characters play a huge role. Glad you guys are enjoying it!
yes yes, they use it without saying anything. which is big part of this series..

I want to say thank you for making your channel. It's like watching a movie with friends, which some of us don't always have.
That's a sweet comment. I agree, they have such a fun and warm channel 🥰
Beautifully said, I relate a little too hard to that. 🥺

Easily my favorite show of the year. So glad you guys are watching this, had to subscribe after this! You'll be blown away, especially episode 3.

Love watching this again with you two. Each episode gets better.
Really appreciate a reaction where one person has some idea of what’s going on but doesn’t spoil everything for the newcomer.
Buckle up. The Story build up is done lol. This is a perfect series of show don't tell writing done expertly.

It is absolutely the same stone.
This is up there with True Detective season 1, Fargo season 1 as a perfect season of television.
Great taste! I'd add leftovers season 1 too

In addition to everything else, this show demonstrates a true mastery of exposition.
All them times I requested some animation on the channel are coming home to roost. XD
Thank God you're still watching this show!
I love your reaction.
Im liking this... lets gooooo!! first timer, like WTF is champions??? 🤣🤣🤣👊🏻.. pleasant little gem here.. no pun intended 🫠
So after this series we have to get them to watch "The Legend of VOX MACHINA"
edited for full show name ... just in case
HELL! YESSS!!!!!!😎😆😍
Oh yes! That’s a good tv show too!
Everyone is like: can’t wait til next episode 😬
Lol The problem with that feeling is you get it after every episode because the series is just so good. I really hope season 2 doesn't disappoint.
I was expecting strong fight scenes because of the game but I didn't expect them to make a stronger drama with its writing and dialogues
I love victors character

Can we do invincible next?
If you do another animated series, do Castlevania first. Then maybe do Kengan Ashura, it's so wild.
Hey guys the editing was spot on!
Ep 3 👀

Thanks for the video!! See you later!! Stay safe.😁
NO one Please mention any hints or what to expect for future episodes please . It looses true reaction expectations.
That would be nice but there always seems to be that one guy.
When are you going to watch "Interstellar"? You really should run a Christopher Nolan marathon!!
Good work keeping a straight face, TBR, so not to spoil anything for Samantha.
Next episode is the best episode in the season!
Hi ✋✋love from Iraq ❤❤❤❤
watch Attack On Titan
