My bathroom cabinets desperatly need this haha, your videos always get me in the right "let's clean /de-clutter this baby"-mind set. Thanks, and have a nice weekend, greetings from The Netherlands.
Hey Melissa! Im Justin and just wanted to take the time to thank you for giving me motivation to clean and have a much more cleaner life than i used to have. Your videos are like sugar to me and i really thank you for that keep up the good work!
I feel great..The sun came out over Scotland and after watching your clip I set to work and WOW! The six drawer unit I had in my bathroom has been condensed down to one drawer in a handy unit on my landing. The six drawer unit is out and my bathroom looks so much bigger. Your system worked so well. Great big thanks...Off to sort the cupboard under the stairs (I maybe some time).
And in off to tackle the dreaded bathroom cupboard lol. Loving ur hair Melissa. And thnx fr motivating this tired mother of two with tackling daily chores even on a Saturday night. *SIGH*
Yay, I totally did this when we moved into our current apartment! Our bathroom only has a medicine cabinet (not even under the sink space!) Once everything was gone, it was so easy to keep clean.
So happy you brought this vid to my attention again - I seem to have forgotten some of these great tips - I immediately went running for the ole vinegar bottle and am soaking my toothbrush!
I also store my makeup the same way. I have those mini drawers from Target as well. A tip I have for you is to line them with the no slip grip liner for a neat appearance and you can stack items and they won't slip. Hope that makes sense! Loving your videos! You were mentioned by a viewer on EmilyNoel83 Beauty Broadcast Live on Beauty Vlogcast.
I just love you guys!! I love your videos & your sense of humor & your helpful tips!! Watching your vids always motivates me in cleaning & organizing!! LOVE U & THANK U!!
I have been thinking that I need to clean my personal drawers and cosmetics during the last days and always felt lazy lol.... but your videos motivated me!!! And Im on it!! Thanks, you make the cleaning work more easy :)
Great video! Is there a downloadable or printable PDF of the cosmetics and toiletries expiry guide? I see a long list on your website, but It would be great to print out and paste a page on the inside of the cabinet door! :)
just discovered your channel and believe it or not, I am excited to head home from the office to CLEAN :D thanks for the useful tips and motivating videos that make the dreaded chores less overwhelming :)
I wish I had the time (to wait) to do all the spring cleaning-tasks along with every upload of your videos. I had to go through it all during the week, because I celebrated my birthday this friday. Yet I picked up the "6-months rule" from your How-to Clean a Refrigerator video (which I rewatched again along with many of your other videos, before I started) and applied that when I had to decide what should stay and go from drawers and shelves in the bathroom aswell. It really helped me. I used to keep way too much stuff - just in case I would need it again, lol. Which made me clean and organize some of the same old, useless items over and over even though I would never touch them beside that. I find that it works really great now that I have a specific rule to refer to in my mind when I determine the fate of an item, so I don't even get to think "but what if this and what if that, maybe I'll need it then". This rule, the checklists from your website and all your guides, tricks and How-Tos are brilliant - Internet treasure right there! So thank you so much for all your videos, Melissa :) Oh and I have said it before, but I have to say it again: You are so beautiful and you look so much like Spencer Hastings from Pretty Little Liars :D
I love hearing stories like this, it makes all the difference when you have a bit of guidance and then you get a chance to apply it to your own situation. I am so pleased to hear how this is helping you! Happy belated b day! And thank you for the lovely compliment, I will Google her now LOL!
Hello Melissa, I love all your videos, and I'm starting to maintain a clean space in my bathroom and room. Can you please tell me what kind of fabric or brush should I use to clean wood (is a custom made bookshelf and is a wrinkled and rugous finish which makes most fabric stick to the wood, tear apart or just don't move at all) I also have a porous tiles in my bathroom and they are not one single color, how can I clean them? finally how can a clean the floor tiles in my room, they seem kinda yellow. Thanx!
***** Thank you so much for answering Melissa. I bought several kinds and sizes of microfiber cloth but although I can clean almost all surfaces, this wood pine bookshelf surface is like sanding paper!!! every fabric sticks to it, even microfiber! I put the cloth on the surfaces and it just doesnt move, or clean for that matter (even using wood furniture cleaner)
For me, all of the disposed medication & cosmetics would have to be carted by me to the local residential special materials and electronics center that collects such things..... But I can see myself combining some product to recycle some of the containers...lotions for instance. Good idea about the one second rule!
another cleaning problem. This comes from my dad. He has waaaay too many clothes hanging in his closet, surprisingly he uses almost everything, the problem is that since I live in a desert there is a tendency to have dust almost everywhere. My dad is asking for a solution to remove dust from clothes and dust stains (you know, from the top area) or actually just protect the clothes. He has no door on his closet.
Hi! I'm not sure if this would be too personal, but it'd be useful for me if you made a video on what products you use to clean yourself, (what's healthy, what strips you of oils, which chemicals are bad for you) since you probably know a lot about this sort of thing. xx
Really nice soft makeup look, Melissa! Question please: i found 3 lipsticks still in their MAC boxes mfg date 2011! As they are unopened can i still use them or have they expired anyway...? Thanks xx
Hi Melissa! I've just started watching your videos and I love them!! You make me wanna clean!;) Could you please give me some advice to clean that brown bottom of the toilet? And also those incrustations on the edeges? Thank you!
I just did this the other day and it feels so good! My make up is all organised and I know I'll use it all, same with my medicines and other personal care items :-) such a nice feeling when it's all done and my friends enjoyed raiding my stash for some freebies, glad stuff thats still fine to use has gone to a good home. Love your videos :-)
Here's an Amazon link - it's $4 cheaper than where I got it! www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0036OQWT0/ref=as_li_qf_sp_asin_il_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=B0036OQWT0&linkCode=as2&tag=clmyspbl-20
Hi Melissa! Great video as always. I followed the link to the Expiry Guide and it is great, but I'm one of those people who functions better when I can see things every day. I wanted to print it and stick it to my vanity to be reminded every now and then, but I don't seem to find a printable version. Is it somewhere, or it just doesn't exist? Thank you!
Great video! Has been on my list of things to do but wasn't sure how to manage. Melissa you mentioned donating product to shelters. Will they only accept new unused product or half empty ones that are not expired? Thanks!
I'd never cleaned my shower liner before watching these videos. (I know, gross.) am now cleaning my bathroom top to bottom and watching these to keep me motivated while I'm waiting for the products to set.
Thankyou it was very helpful :) I really want to clean my purses too and desinfect them in the inside but I dont know what to use that its safe for my purses
I got it at the equivalent of the Container Store here in Canada, called Solutions. But, here it is on Amazon! www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0036OQWT0/ref=as_li_qf_sp_asin_il_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=B0036OQWT0&linkCode=as2&tag=clmyspbl-20
Here's a tip: If let's say your eyeshadow is expired and you REALLY like the color on your skin, you should recycle it by using a bottle of top coat/clear nail polish. Just put in a desirable amount of eyeshadow into the nail polish bottle (depending on how opaque you want it to look) and then stir it with a toothpick. You'll have a brand new nail polish color that you can use!
I love that wall color at the opening of this video! It's perfectly balanced and gorgeous! I know you get tons of comments, but if you ever see this comment and remember what the name of that color/brand is, could you share it? I just bought a house with hideous butterscotch walls EVERYWHERE.
Thank you so much - butterscotch is more orange, this colour is more of a greyish brown. I wish I remembered the colour name because several people have asked!
Oh, I have used your spring cleaning charts...and this task is on my list...argg...so not looking forward to it...I know I'm going to have to purge alot....I don't know how these beauty gurus who have tons and tons of products keep it all for years and years...it's crazy....great tips...thanks Melissa!
Question: we just moved into a new (to us) house. The shower is textured fiberglass on the bottom. It has either soap scum or is stained. I've tried many cleaners + elbow grease, and nothing is working. It's driving me crazy! I want a clean, sparkly white shower. Help please!! :)
This is EXACTLY what I wanted to do next! I've been trying to go room by room cleaning everything out after we emptied out our kitchen of *everything* but the sink and furniture. I'm making sure everything gets but away neatly and everything's cleaned beforehand... which hasn't been done since before I was born! (I'm 24). It's a bit of a slow process because all of the pots and pans in the living room are overwhelming and anything I want to toss has to go by my parents first. I think it would be awkward if I started throwing away their stuff. But she put back half of the expired spices into the cabinet after I took them out!
Oh I need to go through my cosmetics and toiletries. I already went through the nail polish and have a bunch to donate that no longer suit my taste. Love your videos
LOVE your videos! This one was a little too blurry at times though. Still, great tips! Before giving away cosmetics it might be wise to wipe down pressed eyeshadows and powders with a paper towel, soaked in a mix of water and hydrogen peroxide. It keeps any germs from spreading to your friends. Personally, I don't use my makeup when I'm sick, but I can't see myself using someone else's. Too much risk of getting pink eye!
It's up to each person who watches how long they want to keep their medications for - because I put this video up for the whole world to see, I will always go by the books, but individuals can choose to keep things for as long as they feel comfortable with :)
I don't use a 6-month rule for everything; if I did, I would be throwing out an awful lot of body wash and other things that are usually fine past 6 months. I decided to institute a buying freeze. I only buy things I need and/or will use up within months. Also, if I find something I know I like for a ridiculously low price, I will purchase it then...because I can't afford to pay full price for everything...it's just too expensive to live that way. I also use my old nail polishes to color-code things, like keys. My house key looks like another key on my key ring, so I painted the top portion of my house key pink, and the other key that looks like it blue. I've also used it to color-code cords for electronics. It's easier to re-assemble your home entertainment system or desktop computer and accessories when you have a metallic purple stripe/dot on a cord AND next to the connection it plugs into. (Many of the electronic things I own are old, and not as user-friendly as newer items.) I also try to re-purpose things as much as I can...hand cream I don't like becomes foot cream...shampoo I don't like becomes liquid hand soap, etc. It saves me money, and I'm not throwing away a bunch of stuff that can actually be used for something. In other words...I take more than a second to decide whether or not to toss something. However, I am part of a web community where I go, and I list my "dead bottles." The philosophy is that we aim to stop over-purchasing, and we celebrate the small victories each time empty bottles or compacts leave our homes, or each time we gift things. For me, it's more of a process...because I've built up a "stash" that I created when I was focused on acquiring things. Now I'm focused on other things, like saving money, eating healthy, etc. I've learned that a lot of the things I might've thrown away without thinking about it can be used for other purposes. There are a lot of videos on repurposing common household items here on UA-cam, and it's become a way of saving money for me, as well as an inexpensive hobby.
maybe i'm a freak but i do this every two months because i feel everything (even if it's in a drawer or cabinet) gets really dusty. and my makeup and creams etc. will stock really quickly when i'm not giving away some items in a regulary base.
I work as a lab tech and the pharmacists say that 3 months after the expiry date is ok, but no later than that. Plus, if the medication is not in it's original packaging (prescription drugs!), you do not have the real expiration date (it's on the big bottles behind the counter) and it's exposed to light, heat, humidity, etc so they're not good as long.
Yes, our current walls are a hideous butterscotch, and you're right..it is orangey. Yuck! That is why I liked your wall color and why I was asking. Thanks anyways :-)
We're spring cleaning our cosmetics and toiletries this week!

I guess Im kinda randomly asking but do anybody know of a good site to stream new tv shows online ?
@Andrew Zeke Lately I have been using Flixzone. You can find it by googling =)
@Andrew Zeke i would suggest flixzone. You can find it by googling :)
I just did this yesterday! it was very cleaning of the soul.
Amazing to hear!
For me, all of the disposed medication & cosmetics would have to be carted by me to the local residential special materials and electronics center that collects such things..... But I can see myself combining some product to recycle some of the containers...lotions for instance. Good idea about the one second rule!
Thanks - yeah I think it helped me a lot!
This is absolutely my #1 need-to-do. Glad to see I'm not the only one. :)
You are definitely not! Did you do it yet?
Melissa can you do a video on how to clean and tidy your table, from paints and food stains?

Thanks for watching and commenting :)
Great video! I would love help with cleaning toddler bath toys (like inside rubber ducks and also foam toys that stick to the inside of your bath)
We've been asked that several times. We're trying to figure out how to do this (seeing as we don't have kids)!
Hi Melissa! I've just started watching your videos and I love them!! You make me wanna clean!;) Could you please give me some advice to clean that brown bottom of the toilet? And also those incrustations on the edeges? Thank you!

Thank you!
can you do a video on the silica gel packets?
It's on our list of upcoming videos - so, stay tuned!
Thanks for watching Lauren O :)
Great video! Has been on my list of things to do but wasn't sure how to manage. Melissa you mentioned donating product to shelters. Will they only accept new unused product or half empty ones that are not expired?
Thanks!
I think it varies from place to place...you can inquire at a local one!
I'd never cleaned my shower liner before watching these videos. (I know, gross.) am now cleaning my bathroom top to bottom and watching these to keep me motivated while I'm waiting for the products to set.
Another great video. Thanks
Thanks, leoric21 - much appreciated!
Thankyou it was very helpful :) I really want to clean my purses too and desinfect them in the inside but I dont know what to use that its safe for my purses
Good question - I've been toying with the purse idea for a while now. Let's see what I come up with!
Lovely video! I was cleaning while listening to this :)
Great! Glad this kept you on the right track!

Here's a tip:

Just did this a couple weeks ago. I have way more space now. Thanks for expiration list, wish I had it then. Lol
Argh! Ok - you have it for next year!
I loveeeee ur videos!!!
Thanks Dvorah ;)!
Hi, where did you get your make up drawers from please?
Wal Mart or Target - Sterilite!
For many areas shampoo, mouth wash and medicine bottles can be recycled :D (1, 2, 4, 5)
I check your site but can someone tell me when earring cleaner expires? Please answer. Thank you
LOVE your videos!
It's always good to do some spring cleaning, but from my experience medications don't really expire.
It's up to each person who watches how long they want to keep their medications for - because I put this video up for the whole world to see, I will always go by the books, but individuals can choose to keep things for as long as they feel comfortable with :)

You're always on the ball with cleaning - you're not a freak!! You seem to be very dedicated to keeping a clean space :)
Where did you buy that small lazy Susan ?
Monica would be SO happy! :P
Ha! Yes she would be! I love Friends! :)
I really needed this thanks xoxoxo
can you do one for kids toys and other items
Great request - I'll add that to our list!
and a T-shirt with a motivational quote...
I do love that teeshirt!
I'm surprised your hair styling tools aren't more organized: the cords with Bombino or cable turtles and in a standing container.
I like the idea of having drawers and a double lazy susan under the sink.
It's really fantastic, I quite enjoy mine!
Thaks, great reminder and now finished that project. Took 10 minutes and a good tip is to not buy so many cosmetics
Exactly, the less you buy, the less you have to worry about getting rid of!
The one second rule is great. It gets at my weekness.

So, Im like the only (kindda) neat freak in my family, so I do all the organization in my house!!!!
And keep your bed made
Can you please numbered this series of videos, thanks!
did you know that medicine should be kept in the kitchen not the bathroom due to the moisture of the shower that can ruin the medicine.
Are you allowed to film in Walmart??
I like ur videos
Thanks Laura Renteria !
Medicines are still effective, even after the expiration date!
I work as a lab tech and the pharmacists say that 3 months after the
expiry date is ok, but no later than that. Plus, if the medication is
not in it's original packaging (prescription drugs!), you do not have
the real expiration date (it's on the big bottles behind the counter)
and it's exposed to light, heat, humidity, etc so they're not good as
long.
Yes, our current walls are a hideous butterscotch, and you're right..it is orangey. Yuck! That is why I liked your wall color and why I was asking. Thanks anyways :-)
Come clean my bathroom!!!
LOL - you can do it yourself ;)
I like your videos! Process is ˈpräˌses 😀
I know this is irrelevant but your hair looks nice! haha
Aww, thank you!
