I took this to heart and my tone improved drastically. Beats the hell out of playing long tones.
What a great video lesson!
Sounds GREAT, Jody! We should all celebrate the saxophone and its gorgeous sound 🎷!
Timo Besamusca Timo, totally agree with you!
JodyJazz Inc. I recently got the DV CHI and it is a blast to play, plays so versatile! Gives me a lot of freedom in playing.
But now this one... oooh boy, looking forward to Xmas already 🤣
A timeless and beautiful lesson from a beautiful player who has brought us beautiful mouthpieces....who could possibly agree? Just Paul Desmond, Stan Getz, Scott Hamilton, Ben Webster, Gerry Mulligan, Lee Konitz, Benny Carter, Zoot Sims, Al Cohn, Benny Golson, Johnny Hodges, Lester Young, Dexter Gordon....there is no power or passion without quietness and beauty as a contrast. Thank you, Jody. Chuck Currie
Thank you so much Chuck for the kind words!
Great mouthpiece!!
This lesson is way over due. Thank you. I am so bored with fast hard bopping saxophones and guitars. I frequently do not play into the microphone. It's the surest way to moisturize the audience. You know what I'm talking about.
Bill Stotts thank you Bill, more videos to come!
@@jodyjazzofficial I look forward to that, and thank you for products designed for such a beautiful tone. I love switching JJ mouthpieces to work best for individual songs.
Bill Stotts thank you so much Bill!
I love this! I just picked up a Giant 8 mouthpiece and it’s a beautiful piece and I’ve found myself practicing much softer, going for that beautiful tenor sound. I am using the power ring ligature and was blown away how responsive it made everything!
wow so happy to hear you're loving the Giant and the Power Ring!
I play in different venues to different expectations and I have mouthpieces and reed combinations to cover the situation. It is a terrible feeling when one can see the people
wincing from the onslaught of a too loud sound. It´s good you address this Jody, because
it does affect one´s work possibilities.
bob blues Thank you and yes we need to play and march every situation!

Hi Jody! What's that plastic reflector piece called? Where'd you get it? Thanks!! Great vids!
Hey it’s called at Jazzlab Deflector, you can get it at most sax shops!
When we speak, do we yell all the time??? Music is a language in and unto itself...
George H. White, III yes!!
