    I didn't understand why he didn't just set the 2nd measure to 5/4 ?

    • @udderhippo
      @udderhippo 6 років тому +23

      sxdrujandis they’re different things. A bar of 5/4 takes more time than a bar of 4/4. Whereas a bar of quintuplets takes exactly the same amount of time as a bar of 4/4.

      Exactly

      @@udderhippo yeah, to get the same effect, you'd have to do a lot of maths and set the tempo differently.

    Here's an easier method to get the n-tuplet:
    1. Create a midi part with n notes of the same length
    2. Use the time stretching tool to stretch the part to exactly fit into one bar (turn on snap to grid for that ;))

      This is much easier and straight-forward than the video. Thank you Flying Squirrel!

    Really interesting -- had no idea this could be done. Cool....

    Nice workaround. It would have been nice if it could be done through the quantize panel directly but since it's not super common to most user not sure how much are you going to prioritize it
    EDIT: just noticed it's actually possible. There's a "tuplet" setting in the quantize panel. Not sure what the point of the video is then.

  • @arvfur
    @arvfur 6 років тому +12

    I think it's quicker to set grid to 1/1 in the quantize panel and "Tuplet" to 5 and quantize. No need to change the meter.

    • @OceillTV
      @OceillTV 6 років тому +1

      Arve Furset Yeah. This was overly complicated. It takes way less steps to just set the quantize panel from the start.

      Where is the "Tuplet" setting?

    • @OceillTV
      @OceillTV 6 років тому +3

      You can see it at the bottom left side of the quantize panel at 2:47 :)

    When you have a large amount of Quantize presets, is it possible to put them into subfolders?

    Hi, vocal and guitar off tempo doesn't get warped automatically using tempo detection and notes warp method, how can a various instruments which are off beats can be arranged on time signature automatically.. pls suggest, because making every track on time, is very taught process..

    Well you guys think 1/64 triplet and 1/64 dotted is more usefull then 5lets and 7lets? Just put some tuplets in the value editor please. It doesnt make any sense making a composer searching the net for an hour just to make a flute run.

    How would this work if one wanted Quintuplets on just one beat of a measure in 4/4?

    Very useful and expert advice, but what an absurdly elaborate and unintuitive way of obtaining n-tuplets Cubase provides.

    im still confused how to add 2 triplets and 1 quintuplet within 1 bar

  • @grproteus

    ...And what is now apparent, is that the quantize panel should be upgraded with a "divide measure by " setting, because the entire metronome> render clicks is a bs hack.

  • @warmth_97

    There's no apostrophe in 'tuplets'. The tuplets don't own anything, do they?

  • @benedictnichols1539
    @benedictnichols1539 6 років тому

    Too complicated for what should be straight forward. What if I want to program a string run, a quintuplet followed by a septuplet over beats 3 and 4 of a 4/4 bar? (its happening frequently atm). Am I to make a 4/4 bar with 28 clicks in? Then do it again with 20?! Seems messy. here's hoping for a better system in cubase 10.

      There are many ways to achieve something. The video demonstrates a very complicated one. Check Arve Furset easier solution on the comment section of this video.

    It's sure a good feature for some people. I simply play all parts live into Cubase. So I have the human touch I want or the swing and whatever and annoying editing is kept on a minimum level. Only fine tuning needed in the end.
    So my advice is to practice keyboard playing more. It's essential to not sound like a machine or a generic machinery based editor :0)

  • @sleepyd1231
    @sleepyd1231 4 роки тому

    Honestly, it seems like a unnecessaryly tedious method of doing it. It seems like something could be relatively easy programmed feature added to cubase.

    wtf doesn't he go into the quantize menu and set the grid to 1/1 and tuplets to 5!?? .......this is so stupid
