Being a scientist is one thing but being able to communicate science (in my opinion) is much more impressive and important! Your ability to translate verbiage at the professional research level and explain it to thousands of people who have little to no background knowledge in this area is super awesome!
you can try watching with a scalp massager or watching « unintentional » asmr ! that’s what works best for me. alternatively, watching it in a library.
I’ve never subscribed to a channel so fast. I’m currently an undergrad but planning to get my PhD. I recently did a brief study on the effects of ASMR meditations for my research methods class and the article you’re reading is actually one I used for my background info section so this is crazy to me
this video was extremely interesting! i could listen to you talk about any research article. i feel like im sleeping and learning at the same time and actually getting tingles
I was just recommended your channel, major congratulations on completing your PHD!! I'm currently too sleepy to fully enjoy the science behind this video, but I am very excited to come back to it when I'm more awake. For now I'll just enjoy the relaxation 😴💖 thank you for this, my friend. Sweet dreams 🌺
As a psychology major, thank you. This is the type of content i appreciate and btw you’re a role model! i hope to make it as far as you when it comes to education. Congrats Dr. on the PhD 🎉
I’ve been listening to asmr since I discovered it years ago and it’s so refreshing knowing exactly ‘what’ asmr is! Thank you for teaching me that it’s more then just “tingles” and your inaudible voice is great please do more of that :)
omg?!!! congrats on ur finishing ur phd thats incredible this is the first video of urs ive seen but im so happy for u!! good luck with everything gorgeous 🖤
I've been looking forward to this video since that first bit you shared. I find this subject super interesting, and the tingly whispers make it even better!
Absolutely love this! I am highly considering doing my phd in research and experimental psychology- ASMR and aphantasia are both super fascinating to me; this was such an interesting and captivating experience! Thank you for sharing this with us all, and I wish you so much luck in the future!!
@@poppyrackley874 dude yes!! I was always sooooo confused by meditations and manifestation audios being like "picture having the thing you want"- like girl I cannot do that, if I could I would probably be unstoppable.
just come across your channel, your whisper is perfect!! i only really get tingles from up close whispers or soft speaking, so this was great for me. and congrats on your phd!! ☺️
This is so interesting! Also, I find the ASMR online community, the absolute best! My CNS was totally fried for many years, but ASMR has helped me manage it. I use both music and frisson, and ASMR , instead of chemical medications to regulate, and its so much more effective! Thank you for this video and congratulations to your PhD!!!
That was very interesting 😍. Also I've been watching asmr for a bit over 10 years now and your whispering has to be the nicest ive heard!! Congrats on the PhD!🎉 Id love more videos explaining things or reading research those are my favourite (dislike roleplays) but not many of them have a whispering voice and type I like if that makes sense.
1st time watcher & subbed! Congrats🎉I find this topic fascinating. I use ASMR to ease anxiety, depression, trauma, and even to get through migraines! Couldn’t recommend it enough ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This video showed up on my feed and I’m so interested in this topic but I also find your voice so relaxing I’m fighting sleep a couple minutes in 🤣 so definitely subbing! 💖 well done on your phd and thank you for sharing something educational AND relaxing with us 😍 happy holidays!!
I’ve been looking for someone who does educational ASMR for SOO long!! Thank u sm for making this I was wondering if you could make a future video on wellness facts similar to what the huberman lab teaches or maybe tell a story of someone successful for motivation for the new year Excited to see all the growth u have on this Chanel :)))
I would definitely watch more videos where you read articles! sometimes I get a little bored watching usual asmr and end up distracted but this was really interesting and super tingly!
Great video! Was very hard watching all of it without falling asleep 😂😂 I wonder if there is any research on why we can stop feeling tingles, like when I started watching asmr i had tingles but its like they're gone and i think thats a common experience in the asmr community
i’m no scientist but i would imagine it’s similar to how you stop noticing certain smells after a while.when ur exposed to something over and over u aren’t as sensitive to it anymore
I am doing my bachelors in chemistry and this was such a learning experience for me. I really enjoyed it and you should def do more ASMR videos about research even if it is not about ASMR itself.
i love this, this is so interesting! and congrats on your phd!!! I just wish you had set your mic down, the moving of the mic is a little distracting sound wise.
I “noticed” ASMR when I was in 2nd grade. Obviously 21 years ago, we knew nothing about it. But I would always watch my teachers mouth while they read to us, and even a Peer’s when she read to herself. What’s funny is that I HATE mouth sounds when they’re at full volume and not in an ASMR context, which I also find intriguing. I hope somebody finds out the reason for that.
I wonder if it’s related to some kind of hyper sensitivity, because some are so sensitive to these sounds, they may be more likely to enjoy it in an asmr context, but overwhelmed but it at a “full volume” ? just a guess
@GabrieleDoesASMRI definitely experience misophonia, to the point where it affects my daily life and my relationships with certain people because of the way they speak. I wish I didn’t. It’s such a curse
@@carleigh.charltonmaybe, its such a hard thing to pinpoint the exact reason why. I’ve never been officially evaluated but I do believe I fall somewhere on the spectrum, as it is very prevalent in my family. I can’t tolerate loud noises of any kind.
Very curious to see if anyone does find if experiencing ASMR relies on the element of interpersonal behavior or not as well as any association with oxytocin production!
The ASMR “tingle” is often described as a goosebump/static feeling, usually on the scalp, neck, and shoulders, in response to triggering stimuli 🙂 it’s not so easy to define, but there are notable differences between ASMR “tingles” and chills from music. The definition is yet to be clarified actually, that’s how early the research is!
Not quite, but that’s a creative way to think about it! ASMR causing a skin conductance increase doesn’t necessarily mean less sweating, it’s more about how your body reacts to stimuli. Skin conductance reflects the activity of your sweat glands, which are controlled by your nervous system. Even though ASMR relaxes you (as shown by a decrease in heart rate), the tingling sensations might temporarily increase skin conductance due to mild arousal or excitement. So, ASMR is more like a unique mix of relaxation and engagement, rather than the opposite of sweat!
a few months old : listens to someone humming falls asleep. 37 year old me now : appreciates being lonely most of his life but prefers asmr to fall asleep with;people keep telling me to touch grass i prefer Not to be in a relationship;therefore loneliness ensues, but apparently there’s a new definition now. I ask myself this one question when i want the asmr i want to listen; who else is going to fall asleep for me? who is going to find that sleep that works with my lifestyle: me or oneself
asmr it just helps me fall asleep when chemicals cant…the heath insurance method didnt work out for me, find something that works out for you don’t forget about consistency
I would like to know if there are any gender differences in people experiencing ASMR. Most videos seem to be produced by women. A very interesting presentation though different from the others as I try to stay awake to hear the content rather than feel able to doze off.

I’ve been watching asmr for years and I’ve never experienced “tingles” but it does relax me a lot which is close enough 😭
I suggest that when you watch it try to move your head as little as possible that's what helps me
you can try watching with a scalp massager or watching « unintentional » asmr ! that’s what works best for me. alternatively, watching it in a library.

So interesting! Aversion to sounds is called misophonia. It’s not unusual to experience both ASMR and misophonia 🙂

This is great and ironic at the same time, as there are 6 mid-roll ads that interrupt this otherwise perfect asmr.

Hi from Northern Ireland.
Hi 👋🏻
Hi super random but what headphones are you wearing in this vid?
Sony WH1000XM5 🙂

8:30 so does that mean tingles are like the antithesis of sweat? 😮
