Just joined beer league as a beginner and I hope it this isn’t the usual. So far everyone has been incredibly nice in every way on both sides. I’m playing hockey to get away from negativity, not to get in fights with grown ass men.
I think it'll definitely depend on where you live more than anything, and how well the league actually stays on top of stuff like shit. Some leagues just seem to be run by people who don't care at all, and can't be bothered to deal with anything. But a lot of the time, people at worst get a little feisty and shove each other in front of the net. I've only been playing for around 3 years now, but I've yet to see any actual fighting. The worst has been some guys getting a little pissy with each other and shoving each other in front of the net until they both fall down and get tossed in the box.
Wow. Kudos to the ref for laying down the law. Seriously. No million dollar contracts or the Cup (or even just a minor league trophy) are on the line here... calm the f down. ROFL. I don't think the swearing is the problem, it's the swearing directly at someone. In a no checking league it can get out of hand fast as there's no way to release the pressure.
Beer League Hockey, or begginer beer league hockey. I find it funny when dudes that can barely skate take this shit so seriously, and want to fight. I played Beer league hockey for 15 years, starting at this level. There were always that 1 guy like that on every team I was on.
Why is it always the worst skaters who think they are playing in the Stanley Cup Finals. These guys are terrible. Just enjoy your time on the ice and stop being idiots.
Game got much better once the ref left and cussing was allowed again in a "men's league". lol. That ref needs some thicker skin or else he won't last very long.
It's always the bender that thinks they're a tough guy and have to enforce shit on the ice (Green team). Love the lecture and life lesson from stripes! lol

They have beer league for pretty much all levels of play. Why make fun of guys just starting out or maybe played house league? Why are they not able to enjoy the game?

The clock keeps ticking during these long ... drawn out conversations. We pay for 45min to 1hr of ice; quit giving the refs a hard time and PLAY!!!

im joining my dads work teams beer league and our first game is tmw(im 19) this is gonna be so fun lol
First lesson noobs, respect the refs in mens league or you won't have any. Second lesson learn how to skate before trying to get tough out there.
While I have an extensive vulgarcabulary, I've found you can make people way more angry by laughing and using toddler insults.
