DCS 2.7: Enigma's Cold War Server CSAR

- Hey guys today we are looking at the new helicopter update that came out for Enigma's Cold War server. The update adds the ability to transport troops as well as conduct CSAR to recover friendly and enemy downed pilots. If you have not tried it out already, I highly recommend it!
In this video we'll be flying in the UH-1H Huey by Belsimtek (really Eagle Dynamics). First run into the front we drop off some troops then attack some fortifications. Next we attempt to run back into the front but end up picking up a nearby downed pilot. The third run into the front is quite busy. We come across an enemy Mi-8 who attempts to pick up one of our downed pilots, we pick up an enemy pilot ourselves, and we drop more troops off behind enemy lines. It really was a blast! - Ігри

This video just popped into my recommended and I loved it. I had no idea that online play had such cool features. I mainly play offline campaigns but this has just convinced me to try out the ECW server. I hope you've made more videos like this. Just subscribed and gonna check out your channel
I'd really like to see an proper period Cobra made for this kind of server. I'm a little surprised it hasn't already happened.
Yeah I think everyone wants a Cobra for ECW. I would love that as an official module. Unfortunately even if the Cobra mod turned out to be really good, being a G model would not help blue out that much. I hope one day ED or a 3rd party makes a TOW capable cobra. Right now they are using the apache on the server and it just seems out of place.

Thank you! This particular one was very old. It’s very different now in V2. At the moment CSAR is no longer implemented. I believe they are reworking the mechanic for the V2 version of the server.

Great video. Do you have a recommended video or channel where I can learn more how these DCS servers work? I guess I'm struggling to put it together--they are MMO-style always-on servers? They have dynamically auto-generated objectives for all airframes/helis? Or is it just an open world and players PVP their way around organically? Or do groups of players create custom objectives?
Judging by what you say at ~5 minutes, it sounds like these missions are auto-generated CSAR missions when a friendly plane goes down, but are there other objective types? Troop transport missions? Logistics/hauling missions? Scouting? Etc?
This is a very old video so things have changed. If you look at my latest videos you can see how it’s changed. You can do troop drops, recon drops, SOF drops on larger targets like factories or ships all in a giant pvp side vs side environment.

Here’s an invite link to my discord there are a lot of folks that can tell you how this particular server works. Ever server is different so you’re likely not going to find a video that overviews all of them. I can definitely help you with this particular one though. I’m mostly only flying on it.

Just been doing CSAR on here and had a lot of fun. I noticed you don't get any points for doing it though.
How do you get great the great shots from your sorties on the server?
Thank you! You need to change the .trk file to a .miz file then in the mission editor change the mission option to allow or exterior views. re-save it as a trk file and you can open in the replay mode and use external views.

You need to convert the track file to a .miz file then open it in the mission editor. Change the rules to see external views then re-save it as a .trk file. You can then open that .trk file in the replay viewer and use external views.
After a squad has destroyed two units, will they go on to destroy another two or do you have to extract them?
This is the old way. Infantry kill 1 for 1 now so if you have 12 like you can carry in the hip, you will kill up to twelve enemy units if they are 4km of a drop zone. You will need to pick them up after the assault is compete and re drop them somewhere else.
@@ryu1940 so picking them up again will replenish them, allowing them to be dropped off elsewhere and destroy more targets?
@@Rabies4818 yes. As long as they don’t get killed by enemy fire or by you accidentally colliding with them you can pick them up and do multiple drops. My latest video called 4 drops shows this in practice

I can try maybe next campaign. The new campaign started so this time around I’ll be flying the Hind. I’ll definitely have to relearn the Gazelle if I end up flying it because I haven’t touched it in a couple years!
