Interviews with an actor who also plays video games really hits different. A bit of 'one of us!' feeling. Understanding the replayability, the different permutations.
Isobel is a character both noble and charming. Her kindness and compassion shine through as she consistently supports the weak. She’s incredibly brave and determined yet very cute when with Aylin. Mia brings every aspect of this character to life with perfection. Thank you.
In terms of favorite lines of Isobel's I also really love the conversation you can have as the Durge where spoilers: She immediately clocks that there's some part of you that's absolutely drooling to kill her and calmly says she can see you fighting it and that it isn't you, you're more than that urge. She then talks you back into control of yourself if you let her, without any hint of moral judgement of you for having the urge, and tells you it's good to see the real you assert themselves again. The conversation hasn't been about her trying to save herself, it's been her trying to help you. You can see how she's not just blessed with divine power, she's legitimately wise and insightful.
Very insightful interview from a true real gamer, a treat! Would actually love to see her stream, Mia strikes me as very intelligent with tons of game knowledge. She is great as Isobel.
I do love that Mia is one of the only people I've seen that plays games like I do, estimated play time needs doubled because I feel the need to talk to every npc, pick up every item, 100% complete everything. Nice to feel seen in that way. I also have bags placed all over my camp to hold every book, note, misc item, painting, etc. My one complaint about BG3 is Larian seemed to want to hurt people like me with the base inventory management. So many hours consumed.
Good to see interviews with the rest of the cast. One of my friends plays a pair of twins in Hitman, she's just lovely and completely ruined my ability to go on a murderous rampage on a North Atlantic island.
Mia is one of the most talented actors and I wish so badly that it was more playtime with Isobel. She is doing it brilliant and brought Isobel to life, def a favorite of mine and after 700 hours of gameplay I STILL CAN'T kill Isobel. Hahah XD She is too darn lovable. Also about the how Isobel died, it's a lot about well she died it was all dark. My theory is that Shar is the culprint from the beginning
Isobel was wonderful, sweet and emotionally powerful. Great character alone and then especially great with her relationship with Ketheric and Dame Aylin. So well portrayed. OMG the idea of Isobel as a companion is wonderful, but then we need Dame Aylin as a companion too - them in the party together would be amazing. Its not that far fetched actually as an Act 3 option given we get Jeheira and Minsc so late in the game, if they let us have them too as party members not just camp friends. Gods that would be cool.
Mia plays the game exactly the same way I do! I have the same full collection of books in a chest, no duplicates, and I'm trying to find every one! Mia sounds like an absolutely magnificent woman!
Now this here is a guest of exquisite taste and refinement. Now I wish I had asked questions, I didn't know we had a real and true gamer for once. Not saying it is bad that so many of the actors weren't familiar with the scene as it were, it just feels like something extra special to have someone who was a massive fan of DOS/DOS2 (Just as an example) involved. It also sort of means she gets *us* in a way that is hard to if you didn't grow up and experience games as a culture, especially its expansion and meaning. So yeah, amazing as always. Mia is fabulous. I'm really similar when it comes to the extreme empathy, which is so sweet and amazing but can really be a curse sometimes too. Hope she keeps an eye on mental health and remembers to take care when she needs to!
When Isobel showed up, I immediately thought - I hope she'll be a recruitable companion! Sadly turned out she's not, I can understand that since we already has Shadow-babe as a cleric companion... but hopefully in future DLC (if there ever will be a DLC for BG3 since that's not what Larian normally do), or Mods??? Hopefully?
This was a lovely interview, Dan and Mia. Had a lot of laughs. "Every day is a new chance for you to screw up again." I can see Isobel lobbing this particular bit of vicious mockery square at a poor battered and bruised Shadowheart. Much luck to Mia in her future endeavors. Fingers crossed she gets to play a gloriously funny rat in a game soon.
52:34 You know what? I was playing the Baldur's Gate 3 yesterday and my nephew was like: - What do you need a dead man in your backpack for? O.o and I responded: - I don't know... That's the first mfker I found in the beginning of the game. I thought he might me important to the story. 😆 I can't play an A/CRPG like a normal person, I HAVE TO collect EVERYTHING! Every jug, mug, a plate any tiny box or stone... Most of that Mia is saying is so relatable for some reason. Mia is so charming! P.S.: My nephew completed the game a few times at this point. Now he's trying different ideas and builds he's my local expert. :) P.P.S: Thank you for your effort, Dan! Your channel is a masterclass on how to make people comfortable speaking their minds out. Love your content, keep it up! 🖖
02:40 I so relate to that. Remember my first playthrough. I did not want it to end. 05:43 - 05:58 : As an Elder Scrolls lore lover and fanatic, I can so relate to that state of mind. :-D 54:57 : Oh my...I can so relate to that too ! 😀
this interview made me google screaming squirrels and wow! Great interview, I love how Dan keeps pulling a Nardwuar making Mia go "how did you know?" and Mia is very sweet and interesting person overall with a bunch of cool hobbies - definitely the kinda person I love to be friends with. Hopefully she streams some BG3 and DOS2 in the future.
Hello Dan, i follow your channel since the beginning and you are one of the best interviewers. You make good questions, wait for them to answer and are you too charismatic of course. Charism 20! Happy holidays! You are interviewing everyone, this guy cant bem stopped lol.
I'd recruit isobel if i could...you can recruit Jaheira and Halsin who are both Druids with similar skillset. I wanted to know more of Isobel's story like how she died and what the consequences of her unconventional resurrection are is her life span affected or reset to what it was before she died. would also have been interesting if it was a side quest to go with Isobel and Aylin to the Selunite enclave. this is my 1st game like this and i've never played D&D so it is fascinating
Can I just say the first time I played the game I was told to kill her character and I could get a awesome reward and the slayer transformation is awesome but the second time I played the game and I decided to do a normal run and not be a bad guy and I got to know her character and immediately I felt so freaking guilty for killing her. I am so very sorry the Butler made me do it 😢😭😭😭
@@MeanJelly I know I felt so guilty I have not been able to make a evil character since and normally I do a standard good guy run but since I had no idea what I was doing I thought doing a evil play though would be a good idea just so I could learn how the game works
I’m still on my first play through, but I have watched dark urge runs on UA-cam. When I met the mage in sorcerers sundry . I hated him because what he did to Isobel from the videos I had watched . I basically killed him in my first encounter with him.
VAs wanting to be rats just validates my MUST HAVE Eldritch Invocation: Speak With Animals (and BG3 already gives you so much more for having that option open)
Glad to see the voice actress get a highlight. One of Isobel's most criminal problems is just the lack of act 2 involvement. I wish she was a recruitable character. At least she has a lot of more interactions with the Dark Urge and Shadowheart.

Mia's portrayal of Isobel was beyond elite. Her voice is smooth like butter 😍😊 I hope she streams her playthrough!

Wow, playing both DOS games every holiday season is dedication, those games are really long!
"We must take succor in one another's bodies..."
"AYELINE!"
This is definitely the best line
"Begone, friend, I have a darling to adore!"
*Isobel whispers "(sorry)" as they turn back to their intense eye contact session.*

Isobel is such a fantastic character and it's great seeing the actors for other characters getting love. 😄
Mia seems absolutely lovely 😺

Props to larian casting directors for finding such amazing actors ! Mia is delightful

killing isobel was the hardest Dark Urge quest. i just thought "Noooooo! you can't be serious!" 😅

Totally get the losing track of time when I game and suddenly realizing it is 4 am. Happens when I read books I like as well.

"No"
"Then fuck off"
