    Interstate 10 is the best, especially from New Mexico to Los Angeles because of the scenery. Jaw dropping/must see views.

      You haven't seen the Eastern side of I-10 from Texas to Florida. Straight, flat, and bordered on both sides by endless pine forests, and the occasional swamp. BORING!!! Such as it is with most coastal Southern Interstates.

    Some anomalies of the interstate highway system. Pierre, SD., Jefferson City, Mo., Carson, Nv., and Dover, De are not served by the IHS. I-95 once had a huge gap between Pa and NY (had to take other routes) but was remedied when flyovers were built near Northportville, Pa, this made I-95 continuous. While the system is "complete", several interstates are still being built, I-49, I-69 are the major ones. Las Vegas and Phoenix, while close together aren't served by an interstate running between the two cities, but this is being filled in with I-11which will eventually go up to Carson, Nv and it will also not fit into the national highway grid plan (the section being built now btn LV and Phoenix is east of I-15. Once I-11 is complete the northern section will fit as it will be west of I-15.

      Before the 2 ramps were constructed to former pa turnpike (I-276) in 2018, you had to take I-295 to I-195, and then go to NJ turnpike. The Somerset freeway was supposed to be constructed, but it was cancelled due to community opposition, which lead to the gap.

    As a Filipina, never been to the US; I have always wondered if interstates are the most complex road systems in the US. And what is the lowest speed m/hr you can drive through interstates? -Sorry for some grammar mistakes.

    • @donaldobama7550
      @donaldobama7550 2 роки тому +6

      It's okay, your grammer was written just fine compared to the slang that other US citizens use. However, the speed limit is on average 65mph.

      the lowest speed you will see on US Interstates is 55 miles per hour, with US Highways (different) having a maximum of 55 miles per hour. When the interstate is in the middle of nowhere, it's simply a divided road. Once it reaches cities, it becomes far more complicated

    Why not just black top every open space for cars, trucks and buses, or wouldn't a better solution be a mass transportation system with a rail system like they have in Europe be a better solution? check out European rail system on UA-cam.

      America isn’t a small country, a nationwide high speed rail network would cost trillions(along the lines of Japan or Germany entire GDP in money). Not to mention because cities are so far spread out planes can make the trip faster and cheaper.
      A euroshuttle like high speed train would be a better idea because you can just drive your car into the train.

    • @luigi5890
      @luigi5890 3 роки тому +2

      @@blackhole9961 If your logic we used 200 years ago, we would still be traveling by horse and buggy. On America not being a small country, have you heard the country by the name of China? Check out the rail system in China. If I want to go from my city to another city 200 miles away, I would have to drive that distance, whereas a inter urban rail system would be more desirable. And of course, flying to that city from mine would be stupid, I would first have to drive to the closes airport which would be the very city I would like to travel to.

      @@luigi5890 200 years ago cars and planes didn't exist, this is a different era. most of chinas high speed rail is only in china proper, and thats where most of the Chinese megacities are(which make nyc look average by comparison)china has 1.4 Billion people, over 4x the US population making it way denser. because chinas population is extremely concentrated in the east so are most of its cities making them way closer. China and the US maybe similar in size but the similarities end there. All you have to do is look up the Heihe Tengchong line of china and see how its demographic are way different.
      In America you still have to Drive to the train station which would be no different than driving to an airport unless you lived right next to the train station, also 200 miles is very much within driving distance with standard American car culture.

    • @luigi5890
      @luigi5890 3 роки тому +2

      @@blackhole9961 You do realize that not everyone drives a car, don't you? There are older citizens that rely on public transportation that don't live in the big cities. Some of us still remember when we had inter urban rail transportation, before the oil and gas corporations ...etc. You really can't put a dollar cost or great profit on everything. Sometimes the needs and convenience for ALL citizens Should play a part in any decision. IN MY HUMBLE OPINION.

    0:12 - "These roads connect every major city in the United States to one another." Um - no. They do not. Cities in Alaska and Hawaii are definitely not connected by freeways to other US cities. In the 48 contiguous states, yes, but there are other states outside of this area.
