I’ve got the 6k version but wanted to know if you still use it? What cine glass do you recommend? I know you e used the DZO but thought by now maybe you have used some others. Is Raw worth it? As I was thinking of getting more glass and don’t have budget for everything. Any other advice or tips would be appreciated. The performance of DJI Ronin 4D 8K is simply mind-blowing, and it's no surprise that it's quickly becoming the go-to choice for filmmakers and videographers everywhere. If you're serious about your craft, this is a tool you simply can't afford to ignore!
great video! I received my 8k ronin 4d combo here in the UK just before christmas with the native DL zoom lens included (17-28mm), SSD came already attached and includes prores raw codec! question : how do I get into S&Q mode ?
Thank you for your video, but the following aspects are important: The 6K costs almost half as much. The 6K performs better in dynamic range without the boost of the 8K. The 6K has better low light performance and better base ISO. Additionally, the 6K is better for those who work with Resolve. Personally, I don't see any reason to opt for the 8K version.
@ChrisFranklinJr Wow, great review, Sir!! I appreciate your approach to break down all the specs and technical aspects of the Ronin 4D 8K. When I get my grown man resources together, and I can afford to get this type of equipment, I can start using it without being blind to certain things. Much appreciated!!!!
Even with 70+ TB raid, having 30 mins of footage consume a TB of storage is still a lot. A couple projects could fill that up. What about backups and long term storage?
Man... This video is very helpful for me because I am thoroughly looking into the 8k version now, since it has improvements in basically all the things I was missing in the 6k and because it is only slightly more expensive to get this one than to get the 6k with a few accessories that come with the 8k anyways! I am still super hesitant though for one reason... File size! Other than that I am 100% convinced, that this is the camera for me... Even though it seems very overpowered for the jobs that I am currently doing. The thing though is... from my calculations, the 4k 24/25p is still quite huge and barely 3 hours of footage would still fill 1 TB of disk space, which is way more than footage from an FX6 e.g. Do you have any thoughts on that? I do not have the money to invest in the 4D + a big NAS/RAID system for storage at the moment so I'm wondering, if I would still be ok with shooting mostly 4k and having the option of 5.5 and 8k for bigger jobs. Any thoughts are appreciated man!
Hello Chris, many thanks for your communication. I've just bought the Ronin 4D 8k and I'm hesitating between DZO Vespid Prime and de Nisi Athena lenses. I would prefer DZO Vespid like you but I'm a bit worried of the weight that might interfer with the usage of the gimbal with Z-axis. Could you tell me if the Vespid are usable on the Ronin 4D with the gimbal fully on ? I'd be curious of your honest answer. Pierre from Belgium
Hello! I am currently in possession of both lens sets. I personally own the DZO, and they have been working perfectly fine on my 4D once you tighten the 4th axis. The NiSi are smaller so they work easier but both are fine! I love my DZO'a.

if you buy the full 8k kit, the license for ProRes RAW is included. If you buy just the gimbal head, the license is separate. To convert it to Cinema DNG, you need to buy a converting software such as Assimiliate ($99). The 8k does film 4K @ 60FPS.
I told a videographer today that I was thinking to get this because I'm getting into film work and he laughed and said that it makes no sense because unless using DJI lenses, the gimbal doesn't work, he's like all other functions work but not the gimbal
Hi there! How did you get your Sony to work well? My GM Sony Lenses are not working well on Ronin 4D - I updated all firmware today to the latest update on both my 4D Body + the E lens Mount. Then I tried the different focus modes: spot, smart, and wide + high, medium, low focus settings on 4 different Sony GM lenses - and the video always 'lags' behind. I used the Sony GM 24-70mm mk ii, 35mm, 50mm, 90mm - all approved compatible lenses. I tried NA and Calibrated on each lens - it didn't fix anything. I tried a blend of higher and lower f-stops - both produced below-average results. I ensured my lidar was in the right spot + clean from dust or fingerprints and so I'm not sure what else to do or try. I've seen manual lenses with better autofocus on the 4D than my Sony glass... which is a huge bummer 😕 Is the only best solution to just buy the DJI lenses for the best autofocus? Thanks in advance!
Amazing video & you continue to inspire me dude. Quick question, do you have to convert RAW footage in resolve for every camera or just the Ronin? I was going to get a lumix that can shoot pro res but want to know everything to prepare for lol.
@@ChrisFranklinJr you're very welcome & please keep the great content coming😁 Thank you very much for the codec info!!! I'm still trying learn when it's best to use which one😅
8K Ronin4d is so interesting. Will vesfid lenses fit on the Ronin4d? The weight must be higher than the allowable payload, so I'm curious as to how it was raised and whether there is any vibration.
I use Vespid primes with the counter weight, however the 4th axis is not enabled! You can still get some really smooth shots with just the 3 axis of stabilisation. If you want to see the ronin with the vespids in use, check out my music video 'NZ ft Blu1print - NFT'
@@jorjA.F exactly! Though it might depend on which mount. I use E mount with EF vespids + adapter, but PL is heavier. Also it is not as smooth as a smaller lens. But they can work great with a ninja walk
I've been using Final Cut Pro as my main editing software. Do you know if there's any issues with editing files from the Ronin 4D? and is the back focusing auto focus issue resolved? I've heard about that back focus issue. One UA-camr said if you don't calibrate it like the 17-28 Lens, you won't experience autofocus issues like zooming in and out. Whereas if you do calibrate it there's focus issues. Ant information helps thanks an advance.
Hey Chris, do all the DZO Vespid primes work with your 4D? I currently have a set of DZO Vespid primes but am afraid that the 4d cant handle the weight? Can you still use the gimbal?

SAME!!
This looks great. They gotta put these sensors in a mirrorless body with lidar for us.
That would actually be fire! A compact version with this sensor would go crazy!
You really explained things in great detail! Every aspect is exactly what I wanted to know! I agree with your viewpoint: This 8K camera is insane!

Wait wait wait, you said you can INSTALL the LPF on the 6k version ??? I didn't know that ! Could you tell me more about it ?
When I looked it up it was said that's it's a special service that you have to directly contact DJI for!
My question, is the Ronin 4D 8K like "up to date" or should we wait for the next generation, but idk when that will be…
def need info about this raw in davinci

How did you find balancing the Vespids on the Ronin? I have them with my Komodo and love them, but worried they’re too heavy for the 4D?
No problems at all! They don't balance perfectly but they work on the camera once the motors kick in!
I only want davinci to make prores raw compatible :(
