Texas Tech was down 14 in 4th and Taj Brooks was going for the Tech career rushing record. He had 35 yards in the first half. A lot of those yards were 15 yard rushes when they were down 14 well into the 4th, it was a lighter box and CU was letting the underneath passes (and rushes) go to keep the clock rolling. When Tech got the ball back down 7, they were at their own 7 with like 1:08 left in the game...hence the easy fumble return by Shilo. Joe has the context of what happened down much better than Blake.

I’ve watched Devin Neal for 4 years and I’ve never seen any team “lock him down”. This feels very similar to what I was trying to tell CU fans about Giddens before the KSU game and Neal is better then Giddens and KU’s offense is a lot harder to prepare for. Tons of motions and misdirections.

If you want to accuse the Buffs in the Tech game of playing an abysmally stupid 4th quarter (from a penalty and lack of focus standpoint) I’m with you. But there’s no way you can draw a conclusion from that fourth quarter where they had three or four chunk yardage plays when they were clearly burning up their own clock, I think that’s a bit of a stretch. Especially when CU absolutely stuffed them at fourth and goal from the 3 yard line. I think with CU, it’s more about preventing the big play than it is about stopping the run. Because they can absolutely be stout when they want to be.

Kansas will beat Colorado because they have the athletes at the skill positions to match up with Colorado. Texas Tech tried to play run and gun with Colorado and didn’t have the athletes at the skill positions to match up. UCF, and Utah also didn’t have the players to keep up or come from behind.

Blake every team that has tried to win time of possession and run the ball against Colorado has found them selfs in a situation where they are behind two TDs be half time. And then fall further behind. Because each time Colorado has shut out the run and even started slow in some of those games they go up in scores and then the offense gets heated up and they take off. So if Kansas goes the ground game and gets stuffed they lose. And remember Colorado has been able to shut teams down for at the least two quarters. If that occurs then it’s a L for Kansas. And if they wind up having to throw often then Kansas might as well hang they hat because they QB is not a thrower
Kansas’ passing attack is nothing special so CU can play man, which they prefer, on the WRs, then stack the box against the run. CU put a 40-piece on the best defense in the Big-12, they won’t have a problem with the Kansas defense. Kansas won’t catch CU slipping.

I’ve watched Devin Neal for 4 years and I’ve never seen any team “lock him down”. This feels very similar to what I was trying to tell CU fans about Giddens before the KSU game and Neal is better then Giddens and KU’s offense is a lot harder to prepare for. Tons of motions and misdirections.
I agree with most of this take. However CU has gotten better since the KState game. They’re getting better defensively each week but I will also agree with you that Kansas offense is very tuff with how the motion and having a dual threat and top10 rb to go along with 3 very talented WRs but the Qb is very inconsistent and this game will fall on him

Skinner has emerged as a serious deep threat for him as well while Grimm eats in the short and medium range. Look at Daniels numbers the last two years and the last 5 games of this season the kid is a stud he was just rusty coming back from a serious back injury.

The best QB performance against CU this season I believe was the Cincy QB Sorsby. He was efficient and didn't make mistakes, which definitely kept them in the game, but CU prevailed because it could get a few more stops than Cincy could.
Unless KU's running game ball hogs possession away from CU - like what KS did to CU - I don't see it's defense generating enough stops to hold CU back. And heaven forbid if KU gets infected with the turnover pandemic LOL 🤣

🤣🤣🤣 This was awesome to watch. After UCF, I thought the run defense was moving in the right direction until DJ Giddeons trampled all over CU. I don't see that happening again but you never know. What I do know is if CU is clicking on offense, they can beat almost anybody with how their defense has been playing. Also, something to look out for this game will be Micah Welch the freshman rb who is coming back from an injury, and I feel had the most success up until this point

What Joe is missing in this video is that Colorado is NOT playing Kansas' average for the season. They are playing the Kansas team as it is RIGHT NOW. That means, look only at the last four games. Ignore the first six. Also, as for Kansas having a poor defense, that's true for the first part of the season. But look at what is being said about Kansas defense as it is now and as it was against Iowa State. And against Kansas State where KU lost in the last seconds of the game to a 51-yard field goal after fumbling the ball. THAT is the team Colorado is playing. Will Kansas win? Possibly. Will Colorado win? Possibly. This should be a very good game for us fans to watch. Woe to those who underrate Kansas. Just ask the last three ranked teams who played Kansas. KSU, ISU, BYU. I just went back and watched kansas games from this year, and this game is not going to be an easy game. If colorado stop that run game and control and stop their offense then they should win, but dont expect kansas to fall down and roll over. If you want to accuse the Buffs in the Tech game of playing an abysmally stupid 4th quarter (from a penalty and lack of focus standpoint) I’m with you. But there’s no way you can draw a conclusion from that fourth quarter where they had three or four chunk yardage plays when they were clearly burning up their own clock, I think that’s a bit of a stretch. Especially when CU absolutely stuffed them at fourth and goal from the 3 yard line. I think with CU, it’s more about preventing the big play than it is about stopping the run. Because they can absolutely be stout when they want to be.

BYU went down to the wire with the same Utah team that just got Blurred by CU. Utah had the best defense going into the game so 50 hung on them isn't something to ingnore
@@lucrativevision3946 look at the end of the day we have one common opponent at this point which is KSU. Colorado lost by 3 and Kansas lost by 2 by every metric this should be a close game. Both have great offenses and playmakers on defense. Both teams have good coaching staffs the game could go either way but I don’t see either team dropping 50+.

CU is very physical defensively, this is not the same team that played the beginning of the season. I expect a close game but CU wins
Kansas will beat Colorado because they have the athletes at the skill positions to match up with Colorado. Texas Tech tried to play run and gun with Colorado and didn’t have the athletes at the skill positions to match up. UCF, and Utah also didn’t have the players to keep up or come from behind.

Yes, Colorado is 57th in Rush defense which a large portion of that came from when DJ Giddens went off and K-State rushed for 300 somethin yards. However, Colorado is also tied for 11th in the country in tackles for loss. Their run defense is crazy legit. He's jus focused on the negative rankings/stats. Blake every team that has tried to win time of possession and run the ball against Colorado has found them selfs in a situation where they are behind two TDs be half time. And then fall further behind. Because each time Colorado has shut out the run and even started slow in some of those games they go up in scores and then the offense gets heated up and they take off. So if Kansas goes the ground game and gets stuffed they lose. And remember Colorado has been able to shut teams down for at the least two quarters. If that occurs then it’s a L for Kansas. And if they wind up having to throw often then Kansas might as well hang they hat because they QB is not a thrower
